The 98 squad was bizzare

Dion should have been there, as should have Gazza albeit he gave Hoddle every excuse to not take him

Also, as much as he is known for being a tin foil hat wearing lunatic these days, so should have Le Tiss - The most criminally under-utilised England player of his generation for me

Disagree on Le Tissier, he was ok for a struggling Southampton where the expectations were not high.

Scholes, Ince and Batty formed England's midfield in the first game.

Would you really have him in ahead of Paul Scholes? A genuinely world class player. Beckham came into the side later, another genuinely world class player. Even Ince in his prime was TBF. Le Tissier just a big fish in a small pond.

He was exceptional for Southampton, but they played everything through him. They also compensated for the fact that he wasn't going to offer the defensive side by making sure that they had players who would cover for it.

Le Tissier is one of the best, and most exciting, players I have seen play football (certainly in the flesh), but you had to build the team around him, and accept their would be things he wouldn't be able to do, so I don't think he would have worked as just another cog in a team.
