To be honest, I don’t think he’s the type of player we need?

We’re crying out for a CDM and a CM, Paterson isn’t either.

I suspect @Saddlebrains and @GIMOC are correct on this.

Paterson would not be training with us if both parties did not have some genuine interest and some basic contract principals had not been discussed.

Paterson is not an ex City legend or ex colleague of Franks, this wont be us doing him a favour to get fit.

The extent to which this is a done deal; may have been misinterpreted.

The fact that Paterson as the creative 10 is such a downgrade on COH / Palmer is principally down to the fact that’s we lost the 2 of them for circa £1m. COH walking away for free shafted the club. It was his right to do so, just as its my right to lose a bit of love for him for doing it.

This is why you just can’t take the risk of Sheaf following the same Bosman path. It just leaves with you with noi funds to replace.

It happens all the time to make up numbers, like Lampard alluded to

That's not what was said though. Both ITK's stated medical today.

Ffs he is an experienced midfielder in this division, and is without a club.
He is a local lad and is training at his local club. Lampard has probably had a chat and liked what he heard.
So the logical thing is,get him training and see if he is anywhere near fit.
Has he still got a turn of pace over 10 yards, and will he last 60 minutes.
If the answer to them questions is yes, then offer him a cheap deal till the end of the season.
Whats the problem?

Frank can’t say we haven’t decided yet whether to sign him or not but by the way he’s done his medical and the contract is agreed. Once they decided Frank would dead bat the main question the rest of the questions had to fall in line too.

Wouldn't be so sure on this point. Frank does keep saying about having more bodies for training?

Paterson got as many goal contributions last season as O'Hare did in his best, and double what Palmer has ever managed. lol.

Yes my apologies. Paterson is a comparable if not better player which is why he is without a club, whilst the other 2 have signed lucrative contracts in the championship. Jeez.

Paterson isn't gonna be starting every week is he though. Just pointing out he's not the dross everyone seems to be making him out to be.

Also I'd take him in my squad over Palmer.

He's a better player than Palmer has ever been, also doesn't seem too much of a stretch to think he could still contribute at a decent level considering he was decent enough last season. If they are happy with what they've seen in training then its a decent option.
