Bryan Richardson would probably say he was unlucky we got relegated as he hadn't planned on that as it had never happened before!

Wrong? Don't see what you are driving at ? I'm aware 9 points were deducted in the premier league but what has that got to do with it?
It's 9 in the prem because they play fewer games by the way. As for the 18 month rule that IS correct. The discretionary rule IS also correct.
i doubt any further points will be deducted. However Burbageskyblues comments are very interesting.

I don't understand if there is an extra points deduction for the time period then why were Rotherham only deducted 10 points for going into administration in March 2008 when they had already entered administration in May 2006. Both they and Rotherham then incurred additional 17 point penalties for failing to exit administration properly and on time - whatever that means. Other than them only Leeds and Luton have ever been deducted more than 10 points. Leeds for going into administration without going through the formal CVA procedure (i.e. half time on the penultimate game of the season) and poor old Luton who had 10 points in one season 20 in another and a further 10 for misconduct.
Three threads cover this topic now. We have a lifeline and that is enough for me. Praying that they get more and more points deducted sounds desperate. As for their supporters being outraged what do you all expect? I hardly think we would be thrilled or objective about it either. They are good old-fashioned club with a long heritage and it's sad really. Ultimately I can see no way out for them other than liquidation and reforming or the albatross of debt will be over them for ever.

They named only 3 subs and none of the academy players were involved.

Loans still incur agents fees

Portsmouth may not have enough money to finish season

Portsmouth administrator Trevor Birch has admitted the club may not have enough money to see out the season.
Birch addressed fans for an hour at Fratton Park on Wednesday, a day when 33 members of staff were made redundant.
However, he says he was left with little choice but to make cuts as he tries to ensure the club's remaining money lasts as long as possible.
"We are struggling to make the end of the season," Birch told BBC Solent.
Portsmouth entered administration last week for the second time in three years, for which they were docked 10 points by the Football League to leave them in the Championship relegation zone.
Players and staff have not been paid since December, and chief executive David Lampitt was made redundant on Wednesday along with other senior members of staff.
Birch also revealed that he will meet with a players' representative on Thursday and the squad will be asked to defer some of their wages until the end of the season.
Trevor Birch meets Pompey fans - key points

  • The club are struggling to have enough money to make it to the end of the season
  • Chief executive David Lampitt was let go for financial reasons (as with the 33 other redundancies)
  • Trevor Birch not expect to make any more redundancies.
  • The Football League will not let them bring in any more players in unless they go down to 14 fit players
  • A players' representative will meet with Birch on Thursday where Birch will ask them to defer some wages until end of season
  • Birch will decide who the club is sold to and not creditor Balram Chainrai
  • Administrators are open to the idea of a supporters trust buying the club.

Birch also told fans Pompey's administrator also told fans he will make the decision over whom the club is sold to - rather than major creditor Balram Chainrai, who is owed £17m.
He hopes Wednesday's redundancies will be the last at the club.
"It was a purely economic decision that we had to make," Birch said.
"We have a very small amount of money that we have to stretch out for the rest of the season and David and his fellow directors have joined with other redundancies that we have had to make.
"I feel sorry for them as they have all worked so hard over the past few months in difficult circumstances, but we have to try and get to the end of the season.
"That's it now in terms of the redundancies. We don't expect any more; we do it in one foul swoop and hopefully that will take us through to the end of the season."
Pompey's squad is thinning by the week with injuries also limiting manager Michael Appleton's options, and Birch revealed that the Football League will not allow them to bring new players in.
"The cash available is worse than we first feared," said Birch.
"Some of the bits of assumptions that were made in terms of income to take us forward we've now taken a more conservative view on that. We've got to conserve the cash to make sure it takes us through to the end of the season.
"The Football League will not let us bring any players in and they don't want us to have a competitive advantage when we still owe clubs money.
"If we have less than 14 fit players then they will allow us to bring someone in."
Birch is open to the idea of a fans consortium buying the stricken club, adding: "We won't rule out at all a supporters trust buying the club if that is the best game in town and certainly we will look at it. They can bid on their own or along with another interested party."

What is the definition of a player? Is it anyone at the club on a professional contract ie: youth teamers etc or is it just what Portsmouth deem first teamers? How many keepers are in that 14 or is it just outfield players? Whatever it is you can bet the cheating twats will be bending/breaking every rule in the book just liken they have been for years. If players are not paid for two consecutive months can they declare themselves free agents? Wonder how many will walk away?

They probably haven't given academy players professional contracts, so they can't be counted. City have.

thats a good point !

wonder how many "professionals they have ?

Then the FL should not be saying 'We'll let you sign loanees', rather 'Sign up your youth players'. What sympathy have you shown the likes of CCFC, Mr Football League? Sod none, so don't show Portsmouth any when they have made no attempt at all to learn from past mistakes.

I believe in terms of FL rules 3 apperances on the bench, even if you don't come on, mean you're counted as a first team squad memeber. This is the reason Pompey have refused to put the kids on the bench as they don't want them counted. Be interesting to see if the FL put in any checks on fitness is they claim they're down to 14 or insist on them playing kids.

From the sounds of things they are going to make a payment to players to keep them under contract but will not pay them the full amount. I would have thought even not being paid the full amount you could walk away as Pompey would be in breach of contract but I'm guessing there.

If they are bringing in loan players without paying the wages then what is the problem? I am sure that you wouldn't be complaining if we had gone down that route.

difference is that we are paing our debts to the HMRC etc

They are not...

These players who come without having to pay their wages, well, they still have to pay their transport, hotels, food, kit etc etc. Even a "Free" player costs money they dont have !

I am sure people were speculating on here about whether or not we had paid HMRC? What about our previous transfer embargo? It is not as though we have been whiter than white.

If we were in their situation, I am sure people would not be complaining about us bringing in loan players.
