One South American side left. Let’s see what happens in the next 3 hours

Personally think we are better than all 3 of those sides

I agree with you. The obsession with some of the bigger players is really annoying, and they haven't really performed. Mbappe aside.

I'll be interested to see how Messi plays tonight. They were going mad about him last game but I didn't think he was anything special there, or in the rest of the tournament so far, at all. Argentina so far have been average.

Croatia are beatable, as are NL and Morocco. Portugal concern me as they are such sneaky, cheating, dirty bastards. I would be absolutely over the moon if we played them and knocked them out.

Up first: France. For me, the winner of that match may well go all the way.

They're all beatable, but equally it's no disgrace to lose to any of them either.

Well... bar Morocco!

Great pass …everyone thought he would play it left. But the Dutch defenders all switched off

Anyone remember the classic France 98 quarter final between these 2? The players on display in that one.

I'm a Messi fan, admittedly. but if you can't see what a brilliant no look pass that was, then he'll never convince you, whatever he does.

I'm not doubting his ability, but anything he does is just regarded as world class and it is boring. The pass should never have got to the other player. Blind is a terrible defender and was completely the wrong side there.

I'm more than happy to applaud the stuff he does that is genuinely outstanding, but just afterwards he just had a shot which went down the keepers throat at tortoise pace and it was 'Messi controlling things here', and 'he's got no right to shoot from there'. He skied a shot into row Z about fifteen minutes in and they were behaving like it was really close then too. Just frustrates me.

Fair enough - the commentators do go over the top about everything he does (whether it is deserved or not - but usually it is!)

It's been a really noticeable theme this whole tournament with any player that's vaguely known. If it was any other random player no one would even react. It actually stops me from appreciating the genuine class because it's not realistic.

Like the cameras on Ronaldo every goal Portugal score as well, even when he's not on the pitch. The fawning over De Jong who has been very average, Modric, Neymar as well. I know they're big names but it is all so over the top like they're targeting an audience of 8 year old fanatics or something.

It was a good pass, not denying that, but it was also very lucky. It's on the defensive mistake really. Blind is alright on the ball but defensively he's league 1 standard. He'll escape criticism though, because Messi made the pass. Just does my head in.

Agree100% with the first 2 paragraphs; the good pass, I thought, was brilliant.
