My grammar is not the best2 people have picked me up in the last 24 hours but I'm just going to be honest and say I really don't care
Messi is not just a striker unlike Batistuta. He has played as a forward at times but often as a midfielder/winger. Goals scored is not a measure of who is the better player in this case. He's always been a better player , was never the argument.
Messi has 11 goals in 26 games
Basitstuta 10 in 12
Before the World Cup Messi had 6 goals in 19 games
My argument was valid
Messi has been very good this WC
I think he is in the top 3.Messi is easily one of the top 5 players of all time. Batistuta is one of my personal favourite out and out strikers. What are you lot arguing exactly?
All enjoying the World Cup?

I didn’t mean your grammar! I meant your habit of putting asterisks on the achievements of modern players for various reasons. My grammar is not the best2 people have picked me up in the last 24 hours but I'm just going to be honest and say I really don't care
Me too but I was just stretching it to top 5 to lessen the chances of having to debate it.I think he is in the top 3.
I would say Maradona is number 1. Number 2 is either Messi or Pele and as I didn't see Pele I cannot judge.
I agree with you, he's been poor in World Cups for some reason, up to now anyway. Even the one where he randomly got player of the tournament (I think) was dubious.I've never really said Messi isn't a great player ? People just want me to blindly say he's been great for the argies when up until the last 18 months he was anything but .
That being said , he's been brilliant for them through the copa America and this WC .
He's definitely in the top 3/5 of all time
In Napoli at the moment, was tempted to take a picture of a Maradona shrine to send @Earlsdon_Skyblue1 over the edge.

No 1 of the current generation of players without a doubt. I think you are a lot younger than me. Did you see Maradona at his peak?Part of it will be down to coaching ability. Past teams full of stars but with seemingly no plan to play to any of their strengths. He’s fortunate that a lot of the current Argentina players are basically workhorses who complement his style well. On face value, Lautaro Martinez should be ahead of Alvarez in the running but he wouldn’t ‘fit’ what they’re trying to do.
Top 1. Regardless of whether he wins the World Cup to be honest.
I still think Zidane gets overlooked in this debate. No 1 of the current generation of players without a doubt. I think you are a lot younger than me. Did you see Maradona at his peak?
You must be similar age and I agree on Maradona.I still think Zidane gets overlooked in this debate.
I was 19 in '86 and thought Maradona was the best player I'd ever seen. I still believe that.
Since then, I'd put Zizou over either Messi or Ronaldo.
I'm too young to have seen Cruyff, Pele, Matthews. Best etc.You must be similar age and I agree on Maradona.
Zidane probably fifth in my view. Agree he was a fantastic player.
Awful start for Morocco. Very hard now to get back into the gameExpected. The French will win it.
Certainly not a yellow card for the Moroccan playerSurely going by the Argentina game that's a Moroccan penalty?

He didn’t have the right name on his back…Surely going by the Argentina game that's a Moroccan penalty?
