On the England side, no more Mason Mount please.Fully deserved win, and I genuinely hope this England team can mount a serious challenge.
Hopefully, we’ve seen the last of Bale, Ramsay, Moore and all the other jobbers in this Welsh team. Page should really be moved on, and I’d really appreciate it if the BBC didn’t ask Ashley Williams to provide any more ‘insights’ on MOTD in the future.
No, this is England. Everyone would have been wrapped up and cold.A winter tournament is a bit shit though.
I went to a club that had a fan park type thing today and it was great but everybody clears home after cos it’s freezing. It just doesn’t have the whole atmosphere of the World Cup around the country because everybody is wrapped up and cold.
If this was a summer eve people would be buzzing
Reduces the minor riots and drunken brawls in the bad weather - the local police will undoubtedly be happier.A winter tournament is a bit shit though.

Proper cup football when it gets to the knockout stages, Much prefer it.Tournament starts now
Tbf the Morocco fans have already had a little go in Benelux

Yup. I thought we were fine in the first half, though a little too unadventurous. Wales just didn't come out of their own half for the most part, which made it a little tougher to get round the back, but we were comfortable and well in control.Funny AF coming on here reading this thread after the game has finishe. Exact the same as a Cov matchday thread. So much negativity until a goal goes in then it flips on a dime
Decent display from England, broke down a super negative Welsh team. Bizarre tactics from them considering they needed 4 goals.
All in all that was professional group stage. After battering Iran the middle game was all about not losing, wasn't great but worked out ok.
I think we'll do better against teams like Senegal who aren't set up to defend for 90 mins. England look way better breaking on teams which is hard to do when the likes of Wales don't commit anyone forward.
Interesting POV, Alkhen, although that in itself was incredibly negative.Funny AF coming on here reading this thread after the game has finishe. Exact the same as a Cov matchday thread. So much negativity until a goal goes in then it flips on a dime

I would tend to disagree. I don't think we would have no chance. It would be a much slimmer chance though and I would expect us to lose that game.Interesting POV, Alkhen, although that in itself was incredibly negative.
However, i have a nasty feeling that England can only play front-foot, free-flowing football against mediocre opposition, which is why we finish top of the qualifying group. Faced with a half-way-decent side (if you can describe USA that highly), Southgate and the players are utterly clueless as to how to break them down.
People praising certain players to the skies (e.g. Maguire, who had zero defending to do, and Walker who allegedly didn't touch the ball all game) is getting a bit ahead of ourselves!
Maybe he HAS found the right combination, and i look forward to standing corrected in a couple of weeks, but it will be interesting to see who he fields against Senegal. I think we can win against them, but if we face France in the Quarters, we will have no chance.
They should actually be saying all three teams were all better than us in all halves of all matches to be honest. They’re really clinging on to this “England were better than us in the second half” thing…

Just a little flutter of life against the US.
Expect Page to sugar coat it, but there's a world of difference between I'm proud of my prayers and we were outstanding isn't there.
Just heard Bellingham's post match interview. So level headed, great vocab, top interview. Not the usual footballer crap. Incredible at 19, future captain material for sure and seems a really decent lad too and family keep him grounded. Could have another genuine star on our hands.

Im not getting ahead of myself though, All Im saying is I belive we will look better against teams that dont just sit back. On paper I agree France should be too much for us but I dont think it will be a mauling and there is a chance we can cause an upset. Who knows who france will be playing in the round of 16, they could have a very tough match.
I also belive the USA game was an outlier, Southgate is so bloody conservative. Feels like he drummed into them 'Just dont lose and we are through' was very simlar to the Scotland game at the Euros. Plenty of teams have huffed and puffed in their second games, sneaking late goals or loseing so Im not too concerned about that.
I am worried about the defence coming up a real attacking threat but only time will tell. Id imagine we'd be playing two holding players in Rice and Phillips by that point.
Not at his best, but still vital in his build-up play and in setting up others. What are people's thoughts on Kane at the moment?
He is one of the few who provides any movement into space off the ball, and some of his balls are exquisite (ooh-err, missus!)What are people's thoughts on Kane at the moment?

Last night he set up Foden for the second and put Rashford clean through on goal too.

As someone who doesn’t watch loads of premier league the way Wilson has developed his game has really impressed me.Haven't read all the posts, but I was really impressed with Callum Wilson when he came on. High work rate, and linked well with others. Made a right nuisance of himself.
One for the teenagersGood citizen
