The same can be said for Wilson in recent games too. Dovin is an international goalkeeper who’s 10 years younger yet only played 40 games less. How many goals were getting conceded and are you seriously suggesting that all were unsavable, I didn't leave all games with that impression?
I posted 1 similar to this a couple of week ago, only I added what formation were we playing got plenty of replies but no one came up with an answer. I'm still none the wiser.I do think judging by what I see it's slow build up,we seem to leave the middle of the park(10yards either side the halfway line)vacant and start defending about 10 yards from the penalty area.IMO the teams we put out seem to be set up not to lose with the hope we might get lucky if the other team get over confident and commit too many men forward. What style of football are we attempting? Possession based? Counter attack? Are we trying to build up slowly or more directly?
Come on I'm a dinosaur and entitled to my beliefs , and my view that football is like some socialist plot these days, I do hope the rest of society gets the protections footballers are afforded, all follow the Pep for now, it's time for someone to break the model and show excellence beats average! We have dinosaur fans who think playing out from back is stupid etc. footballs moved on and robins needs to move with it.
He is capable but question is how long is it gonna take him. Tbf he talks a good game so maybe the players are just dumb pussies

It can only be deliberate and immediately put a target on his back! But you don't just rip up the old structures and force a new one on people. There should be a gradual evolution.
Look what happened to Liverpool when Souness went in there. Try to force everything at once and they ended up ceding dominance.
I keep saying this to people who go on about football moving on, plenty of clubs have coaching structures like the one we're trying to introduce but they still have assistant managers.
Why have we removed that role when it's something Robins has always had by his side? No one will answer but It doesn't make sense to me.
And accussing people of being dinosaurs is just a cheap get out for people who were wanking over this new set up and can't even contemplate it might be part of the problem, or a least the personnel that have been brought in to implement it.
I'm a dinosaur it's great playing out from the back but how many times have seen passes getting in double figures and end up back with the keeper who lumps it upfield. Many times the defender has the ball centrally takes the easy pass to the wingback when the same ball could be passed to a player further foward. Most times 10 yard seems the most we pass it.We have dinosaur fans who think playing out from back is stupid etc. footballs moved on and robins needs to move with it.

The modern way is far better of course. CB to CB. CB to RB. RB to CB. And suddenly then the tactical genius is revealed with either 1) Back to keeper to hoof it forward or 2) Cock it up and concede. There have been a lot of “cutting edge” developments in tactics but this current trend takes the biscuit. It’s utter madness. We have dinosaur fans who think playing out from back is stupid etc. footballs moved on and robins needs to move with it.

Correct. And we don’t. The amount of chances we hand to the opposition via this is alarming. And we’re not the only ones.Playing out from the back is fine if you have players with the right quality and temperament. The problem is lower league managers who try to copy Premier teams. Sometimes you have to find a system that works for the players you have.
It only works when you have a big advantage in technical ability over the opposition, which is how Burnley and Lesta could do it in this league but most other attempts are unconvincing at best.Playing out from the back is fine if you have players with the right quality and temperament. Only 2 or 3 teams in this league have the players to play out from the back well without fucking it up. Same goes for the premier league (Arsenal now fuck about with it less and even City will mix it up when needed).Correct. And we don’t. Really it shouldn’t be more than 2 touches. Watching the opposition last weekend, they were spraying it around in one or two touches to get up the pitch. Combine it with players making well timed runs into spaces their teammate knows they’ll occupy and you have a nice ‘pattern of play’.Only 2 or 3 teams in this league have the players to play out from the back well without fucking it up. Same goes for the premier league (Arsenal now fuck about with it less and even City will mix it up when needed).
Whatever we are doing we need to do it faster, everything is slow. We should ban the CB from taking more than 3 touches, that would speed things up!
Not at all re the last paragraphBut you don't just rip up the old structures and force a new one on people. There should be a gradual evolution.

Yeah we have to be better at it rather than abandon it and go long or play it super safe.I'm a dinosaur it's great playing out from the back but how many times have seen passes getting in double figures and end up back with the keeper who lumps it upfield. Many times the defender has the ball centrally takes the easy pass to the wingback when the same ball could be passed to a player further foward. Most times 10 yard seems the most we pass it.
It's clearly not the way it's supposed to be doneThe modern way is far better of course. CB to CB. CB to RB. RB to CB. And suddenly then the tactical genius is revealed with either 1) Back to keeper to hoof it forward or 2) Cock it up and concede. What we’re doing isn’t playing out, it’s arseing around. This way of playing was meant for getting the ball forward in a quick series of passes, it wasn’t meant for players to take 4-5 touches then play their own keeper into trouble. Not at all re the last paragraph
I agree with you having no assistant is weird.
My dinosaur comment is soley aimed at fans who turn their nose up at playing out from the back
See my riding bike analogy aboveWhat we’re doing isn’t playing out, it’s arseing around. This way of playing was meant for getting the ball forward in a quick series of passes, it wasn’t meant for players to take 4-5 touches then play their own keeper into trouble.
I agree we should do it properly. But very few teams can, and those who do normally have a big advantage over the opposition generally.See my riding bike analogy above
We shouldn't give up. We should do it properly
I dunno about thatI agree we should do it properly. But very few teams can, and those who do normally have a big advantage over the opposition generally.
Maybe it's time we need to start something like this.
Watch the compilations from last season of teams getting punished arseing around at the back in the top flight and come back to meI dunno about that
Brighton do it
Spurs do it
Southampton do it
Just 3 that come to mind. Yes soton not doing well in prem but did v well in championship.
Tbf if you look at prem how many teams don't play progressive football anymore?
Everton
Man U lol
Maybe forest but I ain't seen enough of them tbh
Yes having good players matters but it's something majority of clubs can aim for now as fans want to watch attacking football these days. It's become a customer product like never before
Brighton do it!! Hilarious. Have a look at their recent game v Chelsea.I dunno about that
Brighton do it
Spurs do it
Southampton do it

Neither, I’d start by saying do you have a good enough bike. It's clearly not the way it's supposed to be done
But if your kid falls of a bike would you say don't bother riding again or encourage them to learn how to do it properly?
Watch the teams doing well in football playing basic brand of football and get back to meWatch the compilations from last season of teams getting punished arseing around at the back in the top flight and come back to me
And that's the difference between how fans see it. Some want to aim high and miss and other want to aim low and hitNeither, I’d start by saying do you have a good enough bike.
Yes agree 100% hence the "maybe". Just assumption on my behalf based on the comment Mucca received on training, if it's indeed true. I've had experience of people who think they know it all in our world, let alone someone making his wage and status, but that's my bad for perhaps stereotyping and not knowing the bloke. There’s zero evidence of that whatsoever
My take on this; What style of football are we attempting? Possession based? Counter attack? Are we trying to build up slowly or more directly?
Why did we spend millions on a young keeper who's good with his feet only to immediately drop him for Wilson, who Robins decided some time ago isn't good enough, and is poor with his feet? Especially when today Wilson was required to use his feet regularly.
Why did we spend so much on EMC, who can clearly only play left wing (if that), when we already have our record signing and one of last season's best players there in Wright?
Our entire defence (other than keeper) have all been here for a whole season. Why does Robins still not know his best back 4?
Why have we got 3 multi million pound strikers when we only play with 1?
Why can't our players play twice in a week?
I think you’re missing the most relevant point. The teams that are able to do it well have the best players. The teams with the best players do well.Watch the teams doing well in football playing basic brand of football and get back to me
Southampton are getting annihilated trying this way of playing in the top flight. Why?Watch the teams doing well in football playing basic brand of football and get back to me
I think your not understanding that teams without best players can play that way too.I think you’re missing the most relevant point. The teams that are able to do it well have the best players. The teams with the best players do well.
Like Burnley last year they have a way of playing.Southampton are getting annihilated trying this way of playing in the top flight. Why?
Be pragmatic and play for results.Like Burnley last year they have a way of playing.
What's the alternative? Play like Luton?
No thanks
