Reda not at training today (3 Viewers)

Mr Crowley singing his praises on the Sky Blue Wall about the team keeping 4 clean sheets with him in defence....pity he forgot the 2 consecutive games where we had 6 goals shoved up us, and Webster was at fault for 4 of them. Sort of cancels out the 4 clean sheets wouldn't you say?

Which games were they?

Reda could have been somewhere else finalising his contract with Coventry, sorting it out rather than training. Or he could be trying to get a deal elsewhere.

Not a big Reda fan myself, yes he has strengths but also a lot of weaknesses. Hope it gets sorted one way or the other so we can move on.

but fair play to Webster at least he is training, contracted or not. I agree with Grendel, he has remained professional. His main fault is lack of pace.

Surely his agent would sort out her contract and reda would just rock up and sign, and wouldn't talks be held at ryton? I dunno, just throwing it out there.

Telegraph now reporting that Reda is due in tomorrow for crunch talks. TM sounds pretty much in the dark about his plans in truth. Cant see him staying on personally.

Reda Johnson was conspicuous by his absence when Coventry City reported back for pre-season today but the strapping defender is due in at Ryton tomorrow for make or break contract talks.

The 27-year-old has been offered a new deal by Sky Blues boss Tony Mowbray who is yet to get an answer from the centre-back who has been weighing up his options, albeit not committed himself to another club.

“I’m meeting Reda tomorrow,” confirmed Mowbray, who is actively looking at a number of defensive targets.

“He’s coming into the training ground for a chat and we’ll see where it’s at. Let’s just wait and see. I don’t want to pre-judge that.

"The summer’s over and we’re back training and I understand he hasn’t signed anywhere else yet, so I’ll talk to him tomorrow.”

@ Stupot07.......Come on ffs, You know the game, the one where you blamed every fooker else on the City team except Webster...Swindon home 12th Jan 2015. L-0-3....Then the following game Gillingham away 17th Jan L-1-3. Webster was shite in both games. What you trying to do? defend your mate Mr Crowley? I'll even copy and paste your "Webster defence" if you like.

Don't really understand how anyone can defend Webster. Part of a back four in 2013/2014 that conceded a silly amount of goals, made many individual errors, lacked pace and his distribution was erratic at times.

Crowley isn't allowed to say anything remotely negative about the club or the players.

The game where I blame everyone else bar Webster? You're wrong there, I was pointing out that everyone was poor that game and he was scapegoated. I thought he was poor in that game, did I excuse him? We he's my original ratings for that game: http://www.skybluestalk.co.uk/threads/52869-Ratings

Allsop - 4 not great
Pennington - 3 not a right back
Martin - 3 poor
Webster - 3 poor
Haynes - 4 poor (has he been told not to cross the half way line?)
Thomas - 3 poor
Fleck - 3 poor
O'brien - 4 poor
Jackson - 4 poor
Madine - 4 poor
Nouble - 5.5 better than the rest but no end product, and gave away the penalty

and i've probably been generous

So no it doesn't look like i did what you say I did. Just looked back at the goals and Webster lost Williams for the first, but could be attributed to a good strikers run, the second was nouble a fault gave a way a pen, and Martin's slip cost us the third.

http://youtu.be/gZsbBiXtrtU

Gillingham, yes Webster got turned too easily for the first, the second was Haynes penalty and the third he got left 2 v 1 on the break as Haynes was nowhere, so not really his fault.

http://youtu.be/5o7-2QE5DiE

Is he a great player? no. I didn't even rate him, but the way some talk about him on here is as he's the worst player ever to play here.

I think the reason Reda didn't turn up today was that he slipped in the shower this morning and got injured

[QUOTE Stupot07......It is quite amusing that Webster gets scapegoated for a game we were comprehensively outplayed across the park, in particular midfield where they gave us a footballing lesson in the first half. Their 19 year old loanee swift and gladwin signed form non league Marlow (7-8 tier) took the piss out of JOB, fleck and Thomas in midfield.]UNQUOTE.............................................There was nothing amusing about Websters performance against Swindon, their front 3 players were fast as fook and tore a new a**ehole in Webster. I think IIRC Webster let Swift jog...Yes JOG past him, scored, and straight away tried to blame Martin when it wasn't even his man to mark. So once again Webster wasn't "Scapegoated" He was shite end of.

Webster was nowhere near as bad as people make out. He was very average don't get me wrong.

On Reda Johnson... Whether he stays or not I don't care. When he's fit he's decent enough but he's not worth the wages and the 5 months of a season in the physios room.

Was Blair Adams in the same back four?

Was Webster really that bad? He seemed a dedicated professional and certainly didn't hide on the treatment table when it suited.

Yes, i thought he was that bad.

Responsible for a number of goals over the season. Very slow, terrible distribution.

Sounds like a goodbye from Reda...

I agree. From the way the Telegraph article is written it sounds like Mowbray has called Reda in and may have issued an ultimatum. Reda will have known the offer on the table for weeks now so if he isn't going to sign it then lets move on we can't hang around all summer for him to see if he wants to stay or not.

I let my agent deal with cov but if i stay u will know soon.

Agents can cause all sorts of problems with this kind of thing. Hopefully tomorrow if its actually Reda talking to Mowbray directly then he might instruct his agent to stop messing around and get the deal sorted.

Doubt it. Reda sounds a real drama queen to me who loves all this type of attention. He seems to rate himself massively as well.

There's plenty more fish in the sea and ones who can play a full season. We need to move on from giving injured players a chance.

If he signs good if not it won't be the end of the world but he needs to make his mind up soon so we can move on if we need to.

He is one of the best players in our division. He is good enough to play in the Championship. His problem is that he is one of the worse sicknotes.

Any spies at the training ground today, did Reda bring his boots with him?
