Ricoh deal done? (5 Viewers)

A friend that's not normally in the know but not the type to bullshit either. Was't going to put anything but thought I may as well share if others have heard things. Interesting that 10 years is being said by multiple people. Hopefully the seats is a no go but it wouldn't surprise me with the way Wasps are trying to present themselves as the premier club in the city. Maybe it's not planned but as part of the deal we had to give our consent to any future change.

Yeah but what I mean is who is telling the people in the first place and those a bit up the chinese whisper chain. Especially when it seems to be multiple people hearing the same thing.

People always used to joke about Jim the Gateman, is it something like that do you reckon?

Same as payer transfers I imagine, it only takes one person somewhere on the chain to tell someone and it could spiral. Doesn't have to be Fisher or Eastwood, could just be a paralegal drawing up documents that tells a mate who knows a cov fan.

I don't see why Wasps would need our consent? Legally it's not anything to do with us.
I'm just speculating on what I've been told, my guess is as good as yours.

It’s not really speculation that a deal will be done at the Ricoh. There are no other options. JS couldn’t have been clearer about the BPA, Northampton aren’t interested now Cardozo has gone and we know from last time no other clubs would entertain us, Nene Park has been demolished and that only leaves remaining at the Ricoh. Whether we’re staying or not is not really a question. Only the terms are.

I would have no problem with black seats. One of City's best kits had black in it and we have had black shorts before in our history.

We could easily go back to that style of kit if we thought it might make us feel more at home.

If the seat change happens someone needs to stick all 32000 Sky Blue seats In their back garden so we can put them back in again when Wasps are gone. My prediction, based upon nothing but a gut feeling, is that if the deal is for ten years then at some time in that period both Sisu and Wasps will be gone and the stadium built for us will finally belong to us.
The thought that in ten years Fisher will be renegotiating a deal with Eastwood is too awful to contemplate!

Well that's my kind of thinking too. Get in to bed with Wasps, bide our time, take over the stadium, kick Wasps out and let them bugger off with their tail between their legs.

Win win, though we would have to stomach working with them for a while.

I would take that if it resulted in them bogging off and out of the city.

I was thinking that it might be cheaper for Wasps to respray the current seats with black paint rather than replace them. So in that scenario you wouldn't keep the seats as they'd still be in situ at thr Ricoh.

Either way, I agree with Grendel that it won't happen....too much money, no payback.

10 years would make sense as it ties in with the regs. The important details then are is it a set 10 years or a rolling deal and is there any break clauses, after 5 years would be sensible.

The amounts for L2 and L1 in particular seem high. It will depend what is included. People like to say we've gone from paying £1.2m to £100K but its in no way for the same thing and costs are being heaped on top at any opportunity. The higher rent isn't so bad if the other costs come down.

I've never been able to imagine a scenario other than a new Ricoh deal being struck so it'd be lovely to have it announced. Just confirm that we have a place to play football and they can make the seats whatever colour they want for all I care.

I agree that the deal if true is good news. However I would hate having to play in a stadium which is even more branded for Wasps.

Better than black and yellow.
Yeah, for sure. I would just ignore it and concentrate on the game, but I wouldn't be overly impressed at all.

Not saying it's true, but if they WERE to change then black would be the ideal colour as it would be representative of both clubs.

No one will be changing the seats. It costs money.
What would the cost be must be 30/40 pound a piece without fitting.
Might get discount for buying 32,000.

Now if they were broken that is a different matter, could always go down the route of Port Vale and just use any colour second hand ones you can find lying around. ..

Ten year deal would be good pro tem not bothered what colour seats are there although prefer they stay the same as they are now

Wasps could just do 'Bring a black felt tip' day for the 1000s of kids/schools tickets they give away each week.

They only need to change 6,500 seats for the crowds we are currently getting!

One of first kits was all Black Otis.

We used to be called the ‘Little Blackbirds’ for this reason.

Remember reading an article about safe standing and that cost £80 a seat which they compared to £60 a seat for regular seating. So you're looking at nearly £2m just for the seats.

Nearly spat my breakfast tea on when reading that one....60 quid for a plastic seat? I was thinking 6 quid would ve expensive....

The black and gold away kit we had in the last 10 years or so was one of my favourites until I realised it was pre-emptive brand synergy, plus the gold on the StadiArena sponsor very quickly turned green.

I think it has always been pretty obvious to the fans that all this moving to another stadium malarkey is all about getting a better deal at the Ricoh and better access to revenues.

If it is a 10 year deal then great and that adds a bit of stability back in relation to the ground.
