It’s a complete fuck fest - bringing dual carriageways from 3 to 2 lanes, roundabouts restricted - Foleshill road is an inch at a time - coupled with the white elephant HS2 closing the A46 - can you imagine what it’s like for an away supporter coming by car
Or a home supporter living in Hampshire….

I was just asking to see if there is a way to clear the traffic easier & totally get how everyone's safety is paramount.
think if you want to resolve the issue to the point that its safe to have cars an pedestrians leaving en masse at the same time you're looking at making some costly changes to the north west side of the site, the roads and the roundabout.

The club won't be paying for that, doubt the arena would be keen so you're looking to a skint council.

You'd be looking to properly fence off the car parks so pedestrians can't cut through them, I'd get rid of the crowded steps down to the crossing and make a large ramp with a shallow incline (similar to Wembley).

Then remodel the roads so you could make Judds Lane one way in either direction temporarily so when its time to leave all traffic is going away from the ground and remodel the roundabout so you could make it so traffic leaving the ground can turn right onto the A444 (essentially go the wrong way on the roundabout) while pedestrians use the other side of the roundabout.

But thats a lot of, expensive work, so there's zero chance of it happening. Needed it to be better planned out when it was built.

But for years we did exactly that

Weird response for people bringing genuine issues to you.

Long as you're alright though and don't need to wait.
Who says I’m not?
You are lovely and hugely selfless in so many ways / thank you
I’m sorry to frustrate and others
My humour is a little hit and miss

Can anyone who is in CV6 more than myself advise.

1. Are they actively actually doing the road repairs? I am in CV6 weekly and it seems progress is non existent.

2. How long do the Council anticipate there will be on going issues for?

3. Why has no one come up with a better plan than leaving 1000s of motorists in gridlock for an hour when they are leaving Tescos by forcing all the traffic that is trying to get to the motorway to turn right into Tescos and go around the roundabout that hundreds are using to try and get away from the game.

Given the issues could there be some debate perhaps about alternatives as the current arrangements seem inadequate but no one seemingly is considering how it might be better.
In fairness, the temporary pedestrian access for the Blue Ribbon roundabout on the A444 changes week by week.

Can't wait to see which way I am going on Tuesday evening!

They've put the permanent crossings in now on all 4 approaches.

Why is the parking so expensive at the CBS? I paid £4 at Sunderland & Preston and nothing at Blackburn, all within a 20-25 minute walk from the ground.
That’s available outside of the zones anyway. I regularly park 20-25minutes away. Outside the zone. Although I could walk home in 50 minutes so by the time I’ve driven home I’d probably have been quicker walking. It used to be the best part of match day in years gone by.

Heads up for anyone who tries to escape the back way, Bottom of Windmill road, Hall Green Road and Aldermans green road all 4 way traffic lights at the same time

It's carnage even at 10.30am on a weekday so tomorrow will be hell on earth

Ah bollocks. I won't be leaving that way, but was planning on coming in that way.

Does the queue on Aldermans Greed Rd back up as far as Jackers Rd?

Its not usually a huge queue as such but due to the 4 way nature can be on red for a while

Have roadworks finished on blue ribbon roundabout now? Is it any better?
Contract due to finish soon, they were making progress on final surfacing and white lining at our last match and the pedestrian crossings were commissioned.

Yep roadworks done, however, as per usual they've made it a million times worse

The lights installed have a grand total of 4 seconds on green before changing back to red.

2 or 3 cars go through at a time it's another absolute shitshow to add to the councils bow of 'road improvements' in the city

Yes that seemed so wrong- it should be pedestrian controlled not timed - makes a right fuckfest to get out - all for the benefit of cycle ways that people won’t use

Anti car agenda is strong. Honestly I despair.

they did that a few years ago on the roundabout by me, been a shitshow ever since while the council keep insisting its a brilliant improvement.

As above the lights change to red every 5 seconds trying to get on the roundabout coming from the Foleshill - eventually they will be pedestrian controlled so on request - currently they are making the Foleshill road a car park after the game with no sense - a give way would be much more efficient

Sorry to open this thread up again. I'm coming back for the game on Saturday and have a flight home from Birmingham at 19.40. I can get to the airport for about 18.10 so would need to leave the stadium at around 17.40. What time do the roads open up again please if I want to get an Uber on to the M6? Cheers

Yep, if people are trying to get from Foleshill to Longford because of the shit way the lights work they often back up on the roundabout and then it stops people trying to just go down the A444.

I don't know why they have bothered, it's worse than before and will have cost millions. Some construction companies have made plenty of money though.

They will be doing by Bayton Road soon so expect more roadworks and then bottlenecks when it's done.

Are you on your own? We are flying back to Edinburgh at 8pm & my friend is giving us a lift to Birmingham, I can ask if she can give you a lift too if you want. We normally get to the airport around 6:15 and it is normally quiet on a Saturday evening & security only takes 10-15 minutes.

I dont understand how people will get killed if they used their brain!

there are traffic lights and a pedestrian crossing on the A444 roundabout..The problem is pedestrians that gamble at the lights rather than wait

“when the little man is Red you wait and when the little man is green you can cross”

It’s not difficult but just a shit show and will put people off going next season

No, so many fans crossing and the lights changed when they are halfway across. I have witnessed cars pulling away regardless.

It is a mix of car drivers and fans being entitled and impatient. But it was an accident waiting to happen. The current measures disperses fans quickly.

I have yet to see the general public grumbling about this, just fans. I went to Blackbush rock festival and it was nearly 3 hours to leave the car park.

It is about the stadium not being built correctly to disperse fans. No different to that shit hole footprint Wembley was rebuilt on.

Park and walk like I do. No parking fees and get to the pub before my mates.

Think the shuttle bus leaves before they open the roads. You might be better off getting that back to the station and then a quick train to Birmingham International.

Great idea

Train from Cov Arena two Coventry station is about 10 to 5, so would mean leaving the game early.

What idiot came up with that timetable. 🙈
