I am loving the work Mowbray is doing, I haven't felt this excited and positive about my team since the eighties.

Give Mowbray a four year contract ,NOW. Show him we trust him in the longer term.

oh the dark days under Pressley seems so far ago.

Amen to that rev... Buzzing for every game to come now, and if we do get Kent and that Newcastle winger, we really would hav a competitive team to hit top 6....PUSB

tbh when he says he's here for a 2 year plan i believe him, he seems to totally different class of manager compared to what we are used to. Ipswich are possibly the only team he would have to think about if they came in for him

2 year plan is to get to Champ. Achieve that and we keep TM.

In the meantime he club need to sort their sh*t out behind the scenes.

Can't help but feel that chasing all these so called 'starlets' will be of no use in the long run. They are not going to stay with us. Maybe we would be better off finding more potential gems in the lower divisions that would be glad to move up rather than reluctant to move down.

2 factors as to why we are getting some exciting loan signings...

1) TM influence
2) Fantastic start to the season and flying high



And don't discount word of mouth. One player comes here and enjoys the set up and tells other players. A player will take notice of another player's recommendations.

We need a mixture of experienced players on frees (Ricketts, Vincelot, Reda), our own young players or gems we can pick up on a free (Maddison, Lameiras), and some young loanee firepower from top clubs (Armstrong, Murphy, Morris, Kent).

Thats always been the game plan as far as I'm aware, you're saying that they won't be of use to us in the long run? So if Armstrongs goals get us promoted this season then that won't benefit us in the long run? Listen to yourself. Still, people need something to be negative about don't they.

A promotion is what we want in the short term as well as the long term.

If we bring players through they will be sold to the highest bidder. And if we had players on a contract that are good enough for this division but not the championship we would be stuck with them if on a contract. So having loans and short term contracts would give TM a blank canvas again. And I like what he did with one this time.

Yep, think that's what he means. A 2 year plan, but next season we wouldn't have Armstrong or Morris or Murphy or Kent and would in some ways have to start again.

Yes indeed. We need to have a really good season though. It's certainly looking like it will be, but if it ends up not being a really good campaign it could be harder to attract these kinds of gems next season.

Let's hope the likes of Harries and Ben Stevenson and the Kelly-Evans kids really push on this year and are knocking around the first team. We need these quality loans, but we do also need a new batch of our own talented kids knocking on the door too.

Otis, I think everyone can see TM has more than a plan B. He is trying to get us up this season obviously as is 20 odd managers with their clubs. But in Mowbray we have a man who knows what he wants on the field of play and if he can get a squad of players who believe in him and his philosophy then we are onto a winner. I think if we are promoted or not players, and their parent clubs, are going to want to send their young star over to us.

Yeah, I don't quite buy this 2 year plan. I think TM is looking at this season. It's not a strong division this year and the way he has built the squad and acquired such great loans makes me think TM is targeting at least top 6 this season.

If we can stay reasonably lucky with injuries you have to say we now have a strong squad and should do really, really well and for me it is now only the keeper situation that really needs addressing and is a weakness.

Agree with what you're both saying.

I've defended Burge and wanted him to do well. However, he's a dog turd masquerading as a professional footballer!

I sincerely hope Oggy has been working with him this week and they have been focusing on Burge punching the ball away rather than trying to catch it.

No doubt whatsoever that Scunthorpe will target him and put endless high balls into our box as a deliberate ploy. Any opposition manager would be mad not to.

True. Not sure about you but a year ago I'd never heard of Murphy, Armstrong, Kent or Dominic Samuel from last year. I'm sure there are equally capable youngsters who in a years time will excite us just as much.

Nope, hadn't heard of any of them. Be great though wouldn't it, if we uncover more of our own gems from within our ranks. In particular, Ben Stevenson from what I've seen in footage, looks real class and hopefully a future City first teamer.

I'll only worry it won't happen if it appears on the Telegraph site.

YEah, we saw Stevenson in pre-season and he looks very good. Sure he'll get his chance.

Nice little video of kent showing how quick he is tKing on players in the box.

IF we get him we better start practicing penalty taking as I think he will earn us a few

Why would you prefer him to punch? How about just working on taking crosses?

A liverpool fans on twitter asked me if kent was joining coventry , we were talking about rooney and i guess he looked at my profile and saw that i supported city .
he seems to think he is a fantastic player who will 100% play first team football for them in the near future .
if we get him i think it shows the pull that mowbray and clapham have and other managers trust them with their young starlets
