I honestly wasn't expecting this to happen, but your ability to respond with a completely different and unrelated stat has charmed me - I will now consider myself a racist too going forward.

Oh is that what we were supposed to glean from that? I thought he was promoting radical feminism

The 70s mostly happened because of supply side shocks in oil again and a few other things. But I’m really not sure what you mean by wage inflation. Nurses aren’t asking for more money because they can due to reduced supply, they’re asking because their wages have been cut the last decade. You don’t need to strike if you’re in a shortage field, you just leave and get more money.

Truss was not correct, it’s fringe economics of the sort people were worried about with Corbyn that relied on massive borrowing and flimsy evidence for forecasted growth without investment.

House prices are indeed related to supply. Since Thatcher brought in RTB in the 80s supply has dropped off a cliff. Private sector has always pretty consistently built 200k houses a year or there abouts, what changed was local authorities were no longer also building houses.

You’re very clearly a supply side economist, but that’s not taken seriously by actual economists, hence the market reaction to Truss. It’s not 1980 any more and it’s a polticial rather than economic position these days. Look at economists hired by the businesses that need them, you won’t find many supply siders there which tells you a lot.
There is a shortage of nurses due to many factors. We used to import many from Portugal for example to cope with higher demand. This however left Portugal with a shortage. Human Resource Piracy is a downside to EU law. Why should the U.K. benefit from the social investment of another country? I used to debate Clegg and the likes regularly at Hustings etc at Universities and on BBC radio about

I could go on.

As for boxing off as “supply side economist” and taking about 80’s and modern companies etc. then that’s a disappointing assumption.

Read the SDP 2019 New Declaration and decide.

I didn't know that murder victims were disproportionately likely to be black, so I guess that is kind of interesting on some level.

Just read the social market bit and it’s pretty close to my own beliefs TBH.

My point about wage inflation was more it doesn’t really apply in public sector as wages are centrally determined and there’s less competition. There’s a reason my wage has risen quickly since I moved to industry and not at all while I was teaching. I don’t even belong to a union any more cos if I don’t like my conditions I’ll just leave. But it was essential as a teacher.

Public sector and private sector wages are linked. Wages for teachers at private schools are loose-linked to state school. Shortage of HGV drivers means wage hikes and people jumping to that career from another. It’s inevitable reality. Many economic theories and forecasts simply miss out the human nature element.

Unions were, IMO, necessary in the days of old but now are often led by the wrong people. Strikes will not serve their purpose. Train drivers are accelerating their demise and replacement, unfortunately, see history for details.

The SDP plan, I think (and of course I would) be the best solution for Britain. I got tapped by the Tories to get involved so stepped back from SDP but am genuinely despairing at what Hunt and Sunak are doing.

Boris lost the plot, or rather had his wife bury him in it.

It's not though, my only argument here is why would they sign a contract 7 months ago if they are going to protest bout it. THAT IS MY ONLY ARGUMENT
I think your argument has somewhat grown arms and legs since then, perhaps even a penis too.

Lot of ultra lefties on here and you are living in Hungary right? Recent gf from there and let’s say their views were very “traditionalist”.

Any that agree with you on here will be textually set about so will stay silent.

Unfortunately you’re right, they keep their opinions locked in, I just speak my mind, sometimes people disagree like here sometimes people agree and to be honest I don’t care, I will not lose sleep if they disagree 😂

You probably think pilots also fly the plane 😂, it’s all computerised even planes landing is done 90% by computer.
Hello Kieran. I'm an airline pilot. So computers do it all... Never even consider that.....I've been wondering how I've survived all these years. Thanks for the info👍 I'll tell my boss to put it in the manuals. Any other gems I can pass on?
