Personally I don't take it literally when people say it's "muslims" that are the problem, I take it as the fundamentalist minority (Who are undoubtedly a problem) and not the vast majority
It's trends, context, and world view. We all say or write offensive things at times because we all need proofreaders or thought police.

Most right thinking people are able to say sorry I don't mean that though, you're right that does sound a bit off... rather than double or triple down on it!

What are we supposed to do? Turn a blind eye? It's only a small number but they seem to have doubled the last day... all in one of the worse threads to do so... not that there's a good one!

I get that dealing with people with opposing views to you is tough after you proudly tell everybody you dont speak to people with different political views but I was explaining why what he posted was bullshit and why it was very much wrong.
It is actually tough to log in and see hate filled bile but I guess that's the kind of site you want.

The irony is that people have no issue when they are throwing out hate filled bile if it agrees with their political stance.

Surely in the first instance it's at least better to be constructive and say hold on, do you actually mean how that sounded?

I don't doubt that some will mean how things sound, others won't. That goes for both sides of arguments.

Tough things to see are images of the poor kids, gut wrenching .

Is logging into the internet and seeing some think cunts copy and paste either "Muslims" or "Tommy Robinson" actually tough for you?

Why are you both siding racism?

I think due to the recent events, everyone's emotions are running high at the moment.

Maybe we should have a "cooling off" period in future should (God forbid) something horrific happen again.

so someone stabbing an killing 3 children and critically injuring others is NOT, as you call it hate filled bile.

you think this will stop, it will continue to happen until we do something about it, fact.

when we finally grow some it will stop and our wife's and children will be a little more safe

Why are you both siding racism?

Surely it's being constructive and trying to discuss things and point out issues?

I get with some people there's absolutely zero chance of anything constructive.

As for "both siding", you have people randomly throwing skin colour into arguments that doesn't help either.

Hitting the streets seems to be the idea, although I'm not sure what would entail.

And how are you going to do something about it, how will you determine when the next attack is going to come, or are you just going to lock up everyone who is different to you, or deport them even

Wow, I've just seen the photos of those three beautiful little girls. It makes you feel numb. There's pure evil amongst us and walking our streets. What has happened to this country.

OK, imagine we were all on your side, we're all with you here. We're looking at you expectantly, "Sylus, tell us what to do!" we cry.

What do you say?

But when you try to be constructive and you just end up with more and more bigotry to justify it you're not engaging in conversation you're allowing a platform for someone to present some pretty unsavoury views.

This site has had its ups and downs but I never thought I would have to be arguing that initiating race riots shouldn't be allowed.

I cannot bring myself to view the pictures of these children. I have 7 grandkids, 2 are 9 and 6 year old girls who love their dancing, I don't know how I could even imagine anything like this happening to them, and then on here we are talking about the problems with the whole country, can we not just focus on these kids and their families, and for all of you on here that have little ones, whether kids or grandkids, hold them a little bit closer today and every day

It's heartbreaking, but this has always happened. Dunblane, Hungerford, Cumbria, Plymouth, London, Manchester....the IRA and their campaigns. It never gets any easier to understand motivations of the perpetrators.

Do you mean the "take to the streets"? Which has been called out?

Do you really always end up with more bigotry when you try to be constructive?

Otis explained clearly how the difference in wording sounds, that was constructive.

Will it work with everybody, obviously not.

Been called out and then then bloke posts more and more to try and justify it.

It only takes one young impressionable person to see it and you could end up with more shite going on.

Rwanda is an overwhelmingly Christian country so I doubt it is radical Islam being the motive here.

I know we haven't heard mental health yet but I can't see anything other than some psycho completely losing it.
2% muslim at their last census it seems

OK so you have an issue with somebody saying "take to the streets" and being called out on it.

Yet you posted this about people arming themselves and taking to the streets? You also mention civil disobedience and not being peaceful.

I'd mentioned what I would do in that narrow context if I was involved in that movement - which I'm not.

It was an analysis of a moment of history and in a very American context. It was also a discussion about violent and non-violent protest which is something I have studied at length.

Of course I don't encourage people knocking around with automatic weapons, if you note my posting history I am very pro gun control.

It's very different to someone saying we should take to the streets in this country, now, and attack a vulnerable population.

OK so you can say because somebody was killed in America they should block off police stations with automatic rifles and cause trouble but if somebody says it about kids being killed in this country it's bad?

Was it every cop you wanted blocked off with automatic rifles that were guilty then?

It was very much encouraging violence, it wasn't far off the shite that posted about "hitting the streets" that got called out as nonsense.

Could change a couple of words in that post if you want? That was also there to discuss.
