Does this mean you wouldn’t also search white people?

No but when you consider the demographic in London is predominately non black if 66% is really an astonishing stat and the reality is its always going to be directed at that community.

Other wise its rather like the proverb of a drunk man on his knees under a lantern. When asked by the policeman what is he doing he said he lost his key. When asked where he lost it he said over the road. Confused the police asked why are you searching here? "There is no light over there so its safer to search here"

40,000 knives in the past few years have been found during stop and search.

Give them all a mandatory 5 years sentence and watch the rates fall. Give them a slap on the wrist and it won't do much.

People are getting longer for posting stuff on Facebook than people walking around in public with knives.

12 months for affray and trying to stab people.

Hardly a deterrent.
Idiots carrying knives don't think about consequences and mostly its just a ridiculous macho show off to mates thing. However they should get a year for carrying and if they stab someone and injure they should get at least 10 years and 25 min if it leads to a death. Stop and search is awful and as you well know if you are a black or brown lad the police will target them and many many innocent lads would be stopped regularly. Its a difficult one but S&S is not the solution.

66% of knife crime in London is from the black community.

If one life is saved by this approach is entirely worth it.

Oh and Charles I hate to break this devastating news but S and S was at its peak under Anthony Charles Lynton Blairs Labour government

This is where the subconscious biases we were discussing become very relevant. If police officers come to associate knife crime with different races, they will end up focusing their searches more on members of those communities.
Perish the thought that some officers don't fit your narrative.

Well if you don't search white people where do the overall statistics come from ?
Let's just search black people. What kind of stats would that produce ?

What? For just suggesting that maybe everyone in a knife crime hotspot gets searched instead of just black people?

But on statistics you’d have to search far more black people in London - you agree with that surely?

As long as you’re not exclusively searching black people I see no issue. Can you not see the problem with white people of similar age in the same place ostensibly not being searched?

You would relate the search to area demographics and there can’t be any complaints

I don’t care about which party started it

I don’t see why you can’t understand the statistical fairness of the approach - which governments and a Labour mayor of ethics origin do. It seems you just are wrong really.

Increase stop and search.
Increase the sentence for carrying one.

I know the riots were wrong but should people pushing a wheelie bin at police be getting sent down for longer than somebody carrying a knife?
It depends what wheelie bin it is, I'm sure you'd get a reduced sentance if it's recycling.

Don't understand the issue with stop and search. I get searched at the football 46 times a season. If I was searched every day in the street and it meant someone not getting stabbed it's worth it. It wouldn't bother me, because I'm not carrying and generally the voices from those who complain from all demographics are because they are otherwise why would it matter?

As for racist police that's hard to manage or prove (im sure we all probably think there is more than an element) but equally whilst I'll never know, my assumption is that if I were black and living in London, I'd probably welcome searches even more because I'd generally be at higher risk of not just carrying, but also getting stabbed and searching everyone more regularly would help prevent that.

He was only jailed for 3 years for attacking an innocent bloke based on the colour of his skin. (punching and kicking)

I think that should be more to be honest. The same article has somebody who was throwing bricks at riot police sentenced to 2 years and 10 months and somebody kicking a shop window getting 20 months.

Obviously all should be punished but the sentencing just doesn't make sense. Surely the guy attacking somebody should be way more?

I know. 66% knife crime “non-white” so gendel thinks that 95% searches should be specifically black people. It’s just weird.

I was referring to statistical possibility based off demographics vs population density in the area as strangely everyone can’t be searched.

Good stirring though

You’re an ignoramus, end of.

No it’s not end if. It’s your opinion. You don’t speak for the whole forum - I know this is an increasing and crushing awareness that you among others are having to come to terms with but that’s now thankfully the reality

it’s hitting you hard isn’t it?

Strangely enough I’m ok.

But in London the majority of murders is teenage black men killing teenage black men.
Setting quotas for who gets searched seems an inefficient use of an already stretched police resources.
In other high crime areas the ethnic makeup maybe different. Then local police should be aware of who the problem people are and deal with it accordingly.
Surely the aim is to do whatever is necessary to get kids into adulthood - hopefully alive and not in prison. That parents want whatever measures will get their kids home safe every night.

Why don't you name an area specifically where this is the case .
