2 goal contributions in 21 games isn't that appealing.
Like I said, young and very raw, got a lot to work on.

I think you’d be surprised how many players could make the jump up. Ayari has become a decent role player for Brighton this season and many people thought he’d struggle to make a career in the EFL…
The priority we’d have as a club is adjusting the playing budget from lower to middling Championship to a top end one.
He’s a good player, I wouldnt mind him as a cheap backup if we were still Championship next seasonHe’s 29, I don’t think that’s the kind of player we’d be interested in.
Unlike Matty Grimes who we definitely didn’t sign in Jan
More than Sakamoto had at his last club2 goal contributions in 21 games isn't that appealing.
You seem happy to go the route of spending a fortune on the small chance we stay up and hell to the consequences. Of course we would all want to stay up but not at the financial risk to the club. It’s not though. People keep saying this like loads of clubs don’t do it.
Of course it does if we get promoted and are serious about it only 4 maybe 5 players would stay. This depends on whether we get promoted. Personally I would offer Allen an extension and look to sell BTA over Simms
The probability is one year of pain (on the pitch) for several (at least) years of prosperity on and off the pitch. A no brainer, although if we did go up and likely suffer, this forum will be a battleground! You seem happy to go the route of spending a fortune on the small chance we stay up and hell to the consequences. Yea I forgot about BTA he would be the first out Simms to follow.

Not in goal though.Haji’s better than Dovin or MVE.
I totally agree.Imagine thinking we'd even try and sign a whole first 11 if promoted. I'm sure the management have more faith in some of our first teamers than posters on here... at least i hope they do.
You need to be smart with the recruitment but you don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
From what I remember the done thing is for the winning side of the playoffs final to let the losing side keep all the revenue. The way the media describes the reward for winning the playoffs (richest game in football etc) can be misleading.
There's no special financial reward for winning the playoffs. The auto spots give out more prize money (although believe the actual playoff matches may earn you a fair amount in terms of ticket sales). The playoff final is just described that way due to the difference between winning and losing a one off game.
Don’t mind what Ipswich have done but was all a bit unimaginative, signing the best championship players. They look well set now and will cash in on Delap and make a nice profit.
Not sure if there’s opportunity to be a bit smarter, sign PL experience and some European wildcards.
Thought Kieran Maguire on the Cov Pod was interesting. Teams like Brighton, Brentford - played pretty hideous football, stunk the place out for a couple of years, and then started improving.
He was signed by a Prem side. When they got relegated he stayed with them for a total of 10 years. Who knows what offers were made for him over this time. There's a lot of presumption that Grimes could make the step up , just wonder why he hasn't previously?
He has the game and the skillset , my doubt would be over his physicality same as Torp and Allen
Ipswich have spent 150 million trying and failing to stay up. Their best players will be cherry picked by the Prem teams. No guarantee they will go back up next season. They may make the jump up but not all together in the same struggling team. Take Ipswich. Very good level championships players but losing every week in the premier league.
We currently have a lvl2 academy. If we upgraded to a lvl 1 academy other teams wouldn't be able to pinch our players for peanuts. It would also enable us to get players from the lower academy's for peanuts.Agree on the training ground but is it even worth having an academy? Anyone half decent is snatched away before we get a chance to see them play and make money on them and the vast majority don't end up good enough for the level we find ourselves at.
Would we be better off trying to find the likes of the next Morgan Rogers, that the top clubs don't think will be good enough and getting them to develop around the first team/on loan.
Best not be in the shit financially if and when relegated back to the Championship. I don't think Ipswich have messed up that equation have they?Ipswich have spent 150 million trying and failing to stay up. Their best players will be cherry picked by the Prem teams. They will recoup a big chunk back on Delap and a couple of othersBest not be in the shit financially if and when relegated back to the Championship. I don't think Ipswich have messed up that equation have they?

If we could clone MVE we would make a fortune.for what it's worth, if we pulled it off and went up, I reckon we could make a fist of it with...
LB - basically, clone MVE, but left footed.
CB - one big ticket CB with a load of pace.
CM - find a less injury prone Ben Sheaf.
RW - a Haji-level signing with a lotta pace.
CF - sell Asante, consider upgrading Simms.
Probably still get thumped a lot but might just be enough to win 8-10 games, mostly at home.
Thats true enough but you don't want to lose your best players if you want to go straight back up. It's the fringe players and the ones that didn't work out you want rid of and no guarantee that will happen. Is McKenna the genius people talk about or did he get lucky last season? He's done nothing this season to prove he's a tactical wizard. They will recoup a big chunk back on Delap and a couple of others
I think we would also need a backup to MVE & Tats and the CM would also have loads of pacefor what it's worth, if we pulled it off and went up, I reckon we could make a fist of it with...

That's great, but how is another RB not on that list? They can't seriously think we'd be fine having to play the likes of Lati there for an extended period can they? Or do they think one of the youngsters like Batanwi or Sandiford may be ready to be back up next year?Far as I'm aware the championship shopping list is
LB Already in talks apparently

If not then they're playing a dangerous game and risk burning MvE out and him going the way of Dabo.
