Can we talk again?

On a serious note... I thought you were suggesting I had missed the point... but you weren't talking directly to me, so apologies as my post wasn't therefore aimed at you.

In reference to my point - I don't think that Wasps and SISU are measured using the same standards. If they were then it might be more apparent how similar they in fact are.

Same here Italia , I thought they would bring long term security and consistency going forward . Christ , that went out of the window with Dann and Fox going .Shame could have been so different

How could you have expected a hedge fund to provide long term security. They never hid their original plan which was to try and gain promotion before selling the club on; they had also been turned down by numerous other clubs.

Sisu were also the council's favoured bid I believe?

It was the tipping point really. It's where Ranson's plan fell apart. I suspect SISU gave Ranson X amount. He budgeted on a larger crowd. When the money ran out SISU wouldn't hand over more so he had to start selling.

Wasn't it at that point he initially tried to leave? Knew his plan was screwed. Once he started selling there was no way we were getting into the PL to be sold off at a huge profit for SISU.

I think he stated that we need 24,000 just to break even. Historically over the previous 20 years, how often did we achieve that figure? Again, it goes to show another problem with his business plan.

Also his choice of managers left a lot to be desired as well; who knows how different things could have been had we gone for Niger Pearson rather than Coleman?

Despite his multiple claims that we were 'debt free' as well, he still seems to be held in high regard amongst soke supporters.

I'm sure that Sisu wish they'd never got involved with him and a football club.

Of course they were... they weren't at that time prepared to challenge the deal in place, which effectively saw the council robbing the club blind.

On reflection, is it any wonder that no one ever got close to taking over the club before SISU when they saw how shitty the stadium situation was?

Indeed. Imagine seeing property costs of £1.2m + additional matchday costs and a built in escalator to increase it on promotion. In return they got none of the income generated from their presence.

You do know that the £1.2M would be the rent in the PL as well don't you ?

The point I was trying to make was yes the crowds were lower when Robbins was manager than they are now not would be even higher if we had not been to Sixfields.
On your other point yes they are similar the difference is that Wasps saw an opportunity and took it. I've been against this deal from the start both as a fan and a council tax payer. The people who will ultimately lose will be the citizens of Coventry if Sisu win however in the medium term the fans could benefit because I feel Sisu will take the money and sell to Wasps. If they do then the question will be was this planned?
Whatever happens there will be people who will be delighted Sisu win/lose CCC win/lose etc etc. I just wish we could turn the clock back to have gone into admin before Sisu arrived took the hit and be out of this nightmare.

Have a like for this bit.

Alas, that didn't suit the players at the time...

Admin sounded horrendous especially with points deduction.
Sisu were sold as our saviours and most of us bought into it.
Knowing what we know now, after the CCFC financial course, admin and no Sisu would be not scary anymore.

Don't include me in that 'us'.

No the tipping point was that they were sold against Ransons wishes and he realised eventually that he had the rug pulled from beneath his feet regarding running the football aspect of the club.

Funny now tha sisu have given a footballing person the chance to run the club and we are on the up!

That said Ransons backing of coleman was a mistake

Given Ranson's dealings with Cardiff (and Leeds to a lesser extent) he'd shown himself cut from the same cloth as SISU.

A match made in hell.

I do believe he wanted to be recognised has a successful football man but he his self interest ( Arthur Daly) opportunity of making personal profit got the better of him ,. We will never know if those deals were before or after sisu interferred

I had no idea what administration would have entailed at the time (I was worried we would that we would have no club) and was therefore very pleased that we avoided it. As I also thought that Sisu would buy the share back asap and reunite us with the stadium I wasn't that bothered that a hedge fund had bought us.

As I've said before I was wrong and should have been bothered.

That's just bollocks...

I can't remember back exactly but it was on CWR minute by minute countdown and when it was announced that Sisu had saved us it was as if the world had been saved.

Can't remember many dissenters but I don't think I was on Sky-blue talk at the time so I had yet to meet the people who knew everything.;)

Don't think I was reading this site at the time but the phrase I kept hearing most was "asset stripping hedge fund" but maybe I was listening to the minority.
Wasn't meant as a pop…I'll read the threads...

Well the backing as preferred bidder by CCC and such luminaries as Lucas and Mutton, may have helped promote the ownership of SISU.

Just shows they can continually make the wrong choice ;)

Anyone else shit themselves when an old thread comes back and you worry that you've said something twat-ish?!

Sorry dongonzalos but your posts are becoming longer and more deranged by the day. Earlier you said I was "taken in" by the liquidation talks. Actually I am not but you are mentioning this all the time.
So now they are building lots of hotels. Well no the council will always hold a golden share and this will never happen. Sisu will also I doubt buy the half share off Higgs trust but will get a much better deal on the rent. They should as this is overblown and needs coming down. Also wake up old chum theres no other game in town. It's far from ideal but it is what it is.

Here is a good one..

Yeah, it’s a dangerous place. Any poorly-considered remark can be retrieved by some terrifying process years later and thrown back in your face.

And there are teams of people who see it as their spare-time duty to keep a count of which threads you read. The exact assessment criteria haven’t been published, but to prove you like football it’s important to log in on a Saturday to chuck a quick “Yessssss” onto the site when we score. “Get in” is even better if you can overcome your inhibitions.

Don’t waste chances by looking at a thread as a guest, and being a “hypocrite” is a definite own goal.

I’m pretty sure that in about 2012 Torch described Ann Lucas as “every man’s dream”. I’ll find that quote if it kills me …

...unless it's GMK, where a sizeable proportion of this board will be breathing sighs of relief their previous comments can't be used against them.

Until the archives are dug up ;)
