Supporters' group tells Coventry City FC owners to clarify stadium plans (35 Viewers)

Where have I defended them?

I've not said they have helped have I? I asked what they said they were going to do to help. Big difference, huge.

The fact that near enough every single post you make on here is arguing with people who say anything against them. Of course, if people are making things up then point it out .

They didn't say what exactly they were going to do, hence he is asking what they have done as they just said they would be helping.

So what did wasps say they were going to do to help CRFC?

You missed this post
Here is a quote from Nick Eastwood

He also said the move did not now mean people had to choose between Coventry Rugby Club or Wasps.
"It's about collaboration to make sure both clubs thrive and help each other, building attendances for each club and giving supporters even more rugby to enjoy.
"Wasps will work hard to become part of the community and help support the development of grassroots rugby in Coventry and Warwickshire."
from this morning did you?

Presumably, there are similar stories for when Wasps moved up here. Presumably they will never forgive Wasps or CCC.

There are also similar stories for when the club moved from Highfield Road to the Ricoh Arena. I know several people who stopped attending when the club moved across the city, including my late father attended (after several decades of dedicated support the last game he attended was the one against Derby on 30 April 2005).

Why did people stop attending when we moved to the Ricoh? We were still in the city boundary.

Never said we did. You seem to be more than happy to swap one for another. Just wondered why you thought one hedge fund is better than the other.
Because one owns the stadium? Moving the Wasps and CCFC would be a mammoth task. It would cement our future IMO

Because it was said they would to help justify their move?
This is true...maybe they just aren't bragging about things they have done...or he help is being developed? I really don't know - but I don't think there's any direct or deliberate hindrance...or have CRFC as fickle a fan base as CCFC I wonder?

So you missed the point yet again brilliant

How?

People on here are lauding up the actions of Wasps since they have arrived here. Making out that they have invested in their club in stark contrast to our owners.

However when you look at the detail it does not stack up. They issued a bond scheme which paid for the Ricoh in essence. Now everyone appears to be OK with that, but if SISU had suggested it.... pandemonium.

They now want to a training ground.. be it Higgs or otherwise. But again they didn't want to actually put their hand in their pocket do they?

In the meantime 'claiming' to be the most resourced rugby club in Europe even though they can't sustain a crowd of 10K.

But don't worry - you, the CET and everyone else is keeping the propaganda machine well oiled.

I hope your comment is tongue in cheek as to most reasonable people the city boundary is invisible and largely meaningless.

In my dad's case, he supported a club that played at Highfield Road and he had many memories that were linked to the ground. He didn't want the club to move to a new ground and was upset when they did (he died 3 years later and without ever setting foot in the Ricoh).

That was one of the scare stories Astute and others used to throw around. Don't sell the Ricoh to SISU as they'll just borrow against it!

Yes, another who's apparently not bothered by Wasps.

I think a lot of us wished we never left HR too.

Yes they do - provided of course that every other person than them picks up the bill. That's not what I'd call speculation.

Wow a minute your post shouldn't have been included I was answering the other post. Also where have I supported Wasps?

Don't forget they also used it to pay back the owner. Imagine if SISU had managed to buy the Ricoh and then mortgaged it to the hilt to pay themselves back.

Fans have never cared about debt to be honest.
If Sisu did it and could finance it I don't think anybody would give it a second thought.
However in Sisus tenure we have lost the chance of owning the Ricoh forever, have debts strangely after administration of over £50 M and we are in League 1.
Would be nice to have debts of £35M and own the Ricoh.

Are you suffering from selective amnesia? When it looked like SISU were after the Ricoh there was template letters being passed around to send to the council pleading with them not to sell SISU the stadium as they would load debt against it.

No, he disagreed with that petition with quotes like:

Sorry whats the plan?

Get rid of SISU and .................................................. .....

On a positive note this petition will show SISU that there are only a few dozen lemmings.

To which he was told:

It's actually only a minority that support SISU. You are in a group of very few.

to which Italia said:

No. I am a minority on this board. Most Coventry fans cannot be bothered perhaps knowing they have no chance of influencing what is going on.
I understand everyones frustrations but it is in direct conflict with running any business.
Any business taking over from SISU will do exactly the same. These businesses are all waiting on the sidelines waiting for administration so they can pick up the club without debt.
The downside is that we have point deductions, even more drastic loss of players and yet again another business plan based on income recieved which will be even more reduced.
You are playing into there hands. Stick with SISU warts and all.
Current score 149 Sisu Out, 10,000 can't be bothered. Another 15,000 waiting in the wings for success who can't be bothered.

I like Mutton's reply to one posters' letter:

that does not mean though, that I would ever allow Sisu to be able to use the Ricoh as collateral to be able to borrow against it and then disappear.

I think he forgot to tell Ann that one. What did Wasps do within a few months. You couldn't make it up.

EDIT: Though to be fair to Mr Mutton they haven't disappeared. Unfortunately.

Probably struggling to remember if he liked SISU or not then ;)

He was telling everybody to stick with them. He also said Grendel was the voice of reason!

I have never hidden the fact that I supported Sisu at the start. In fact when they were trying to work within budget I was with them.
I even wanted them 3 years ago to buy into ACL rather than be stopped as per the petition mentioned.

People at the time just wanted them out with no regard for what the implications were. I just wanted to see the plans.
Similar to getting Wasps out without even knowing what Sisu plans are for the future. They just might need Wasps, who knows ?

For what it's worth the removal of the team to Northampton changed my views on Sisu in an instant.
The TF "build it and they come" forum speech set my hate in stone of both him and Sisu.

A lot of people were wary of Sisu yet were called Leicester or Villa fans for speaking out. Now these same people are labelled sisu lovers.

Maybe those lauding Wasps' arrival will realise the implications of them in the city in 8 years time?

Lol Dann and Fox going. So we never sold anyone before that??

That's the thing, Mark. It's almost like we never sold anyone before SISU rode into town.

It was the tipping point really. It's where Ranson's plan fell apart. I suspect SISU gave Ranson X amount. He budgeted on a larger crowd. When the money ran out SISU wouldn't hand over more so he had to start selling.

Wasn't it at that point he initially tried to leave? Knew his plan was screwed. Once he started selling there was no way we were getting into the PL to be sold off at a huge profit for SISU.

And to be honest, Fox wasn't going to turn down Celtic, was he?

Isn't the Championship bigger (moneywise anyway) than Scottish PL these days and was 6 years ago when this all went down.
Of course if you wanted Champions League on your CV it has its attractions.

Of course if you wanted Champions League on your CV it has its attractions.

It is in general, but Celtic's turnover is a lot bigger than any championship club (£75m in 2012, £65m in 2013 compared with highest championship turnovers West Ham £46m inc parachute payments 2012, Blackburn £35m in 2013, , our turnover was around £10.7m in 2012.)

So you can imagine the pay rise he got when he moved there, which ask then became the benchmark for his subsequent move to Southampton, etc.
