Happy clappers get my goat to be fair, if everything is brilliant all the time even when it isn't, then how can you really appreciate it when things do actually happen that are good?

I like the Buddist approach (paraphrasing): "Everything is fucked anyway, so just be happy some of it is still here".

Can you call yourself a supporter if all you ever do is moan and talk about how rubbish we are/ how poor we are/ how painful we are to watch/ how 'bleak' next season looks?

We are superb mate, "city till I die." Have faith, SP will build a great side in the next week, we will win this league this season, just watch.

Now do I get an official CCFC supporters badge like RFC.

I support Cov because I was born and raised in Cov. It just made sense. But when we are shit I'm entitled to say we are shit because they are my team. When the owners are unscrupulous, parasitic, bullshitters, I can express that opinion because they are screwing my team.

Simple really.

I thought the old 5 was a sixties thing, I swear I used to hear it shouted when I was standing on the Kop in the early 70's, that and come on you blue booooys

You certainly did hear 'the old five' in the sixties, but I remember a couple of older supporters telling me that it was something they used to shout years before - pre-war even. I think what they used to shout was 'We want the old five'.

I'm sure that I once read that it started in the 30's with the free scoring team that included Clarrie Bourton.

Did it come about because the team had scored five away from home several times and the home crowd started chanting "WE want the old five" or am I imagining that?

I suppose the op would say fisher is more of a supporter than me as he attends home games in Northampton and I don't. Just 26 years of support previously. But hey that's ok

Saves me getting my hopes up, means I don't end up disappointed and can only be pleasantly surprised!
