Where have I attempted to play it down?
You are very quick to try to shout down people (me in this case) for asking questions & trying to understand what prompts behaviour. That in itself is oppressive & a threat to freedom of speech...something I am surprised you don't recognise. Or are you only in favour of free speech if it fits with your view of how things ought to be?
Trump has just as much right to speak freely as these ladies he berates. If he makes himself look stupid along the way, that is his problem.

£1 bought you 1.11 euros on 1st Jan and 1.11euros yesterday, having been around 1.14-1.17 in the Spring.
Bring on no deal and parity! Its great that so many are happy for this to happen, cheers guys.
Why is this so hard for people?
There’s are three deals: Mays deal, No deal, and no Brexit.
There is no magical fourth option that makes everyone happy. Some eggs will need to be broken to make a brexit omelette.
Any politician that tells you otherwise is a charlatan
This is why I back a three way AV referendum. We know the options. Let’s finish this. I’d even accept a three way vote in Parliament but doing it as a series of run offs with no winner was just stupid.
Why do you think that it got weaker after 29 March and after BoJo said he was for no deal? Do you think the Finance World thinks that Brexit is a good idea?

Brexit weakens pound to worst-performing major currency in the world | Metro News
Good news for me when visiting this summer!
They are not saying it is good or bad but that it’s uncertain
Given where you live is built around currency devaluation it’s all a bit ironic isn’t it?
Brexit omelette....like it !
Unfortunate shmmeee the extremes aren’t judging.
I heard Grieve earlier and whilst his intentions may be good in trying to stop a No Deal (I think his ultimate aim is still to stop brexit), I personally believe his (and other staunch remainers) interference makes getting an agreement through Parliament less likely, therefore making No Deal more likely.
Not dissimilar to the ERG. By pushing their ideological Brexit could mean a ‘no confidence’ vote, meaning an election and possibly no Brexit at all.
Both the extremes are the problem and the rest of us (reasonable remain and leave) are stuck in the middle
Yes, roughly equivalent to a 'free' packet of peanuts with every 5 pints.
Enjoy
Retaining the status quo is the easiest and safest option. It is not an extreme position.
It is as soon as the vote happened Mart.
Oh and the Donald thinks she married her brother to get to the US
I thought our currency was supposed to be too strong. Whatever. I saved some money because of the Brexit vote in 2016, it looks like should send a few grand over if this continues. Missus wants us to go to Cornwall. Thanks BoJo.
So what are the G 10 currencies? Not which are they. Why do you call them the biggest currencies?
Look at your list of what they are and tell me they are the biggest with honesty. You can't if you are being truthful. It is just a grouping.
Hahaha bullshit.
You ‘seen’ what coming earlier this year?
The fact that at very best you might have an extra 3% or 4% to spend on your summer holiday?
After all, GBP is at the same level vs the EUR and 4 cents off the USD rate it was on 1st Jan.
‘I had the good sense to change a shit load’. Love it, classic David Brent.
Have a great holiday, where are you going?

Should have waited until article 50 was extended if you had the choice. That was looking more and more likely as we approached B day and the pound was always going to react positive to that given how badly prepared we are.The £ is the lowest against the € for 6 months. So if bought at the start of the year it was even lower. Just had to look at the post you quoted. No surprise there.
Is this the same Donald Trump who made references about dating his own daughter?
Am I?
The other take on that would be that you are a media dream...you respond to what they tell you rather than trying to all perspectives on a situation to form your own viewpoint.

Not changing the subject?I’m not changing subject. How’s the pound been performing vs the Yuan since the threat of a no deal has been further amplified?
Will it still be called Mays deal when May isn't PM?Why is this so hard for people?

It is easy to see that some people do think that perhaps in the face of no deal, one or both sides may adjust their position somewhat. Why is this so hard for people?

You said that I was hiding my head in the sand fir saying that the G10 wasn't the top 10 biggest currencies. Is this correct?
So are the G10 the top 10 biggest currencies?
But that is what is so divisive. For yrs generally people such as us have merely shrugged their shoulders even when such changes in the value of the pound have been more dramatic. Now some of us make it into something that is likely to have a dramatic impact on us all...just because they think it adds weight to their argument. No I didn’t.
I said you were burying your head in the sand about the negative impact upon the pound.
Is that right?No I didn’t.

Remain shouldn't be on a new vote though,It lost 3 years ago. This is why a three way vote is needed. The two sides won’t compromise so we need a deadlock breaker.
When was it then? You have had long enough to work out the best timing to have done so.I didn’t say at the start of the year.
Is that right?
Show me where then.
Negative inpact? So Germany having a negative impact on their currency because they share it with weak countries like Italy is all bad? What is bad is a strong currency or hyper inflation. I have been saying this for the last few years. But it isn't harming us now like it isn't harming Germany. Those who are being harmed are those with weak economies that share a currency with Germany.
Or would you like to put a spin on having our currency devalued isall bad news. Because if Brexit does go tits up it will be the devalued £ that will save us from harm. Then it will go back to where it should be.

Reality, £5-10 on the average family holiday budget for a week on the Costa del Sol or similar

But 52% v 48% was a majority. And millions of people refuse to accept the result. So what would it be like without a majority decision? This is why a three way vote is needed. The two sides won’t compromise so we need a deadlock breaker.
Luckily increased competition has kept food prices down. The poorest don’t even go on holiday.
The biggest impact for them will have been the cost of living, such as food prices, which have undeniably increased since the devaluation of the pound.
