The notion that the EU is about to give the UK whatever it wants (as was claimed on here and by a few MPs) due to the German car industry, is even more laughable.
Sounds like a planIt's hardly surprising though, is it? I'm surprised that no one has suggested we get the gun boats out yet and put it up Johnny Foreigner.
What simple economics is this, then?imple economics tell you brexit will get a good deal.
Net 10 billion.......allegedly
Exactly. They will build up alternative
You're going to be in for a shock. Believe it or not, but there are plenty of other markets for them to tap into.
No one thinks that. Stop making it up. Simple economics tell you brexit will get a good deal. It will be a free trade deal and this benefits the EU just as much as UK. Common sense is the phrase.
Like where that fine the profit mark up in the uk which is hugely more than anywhere else in Europe?
So much so that they haven't tapped into them yet? Oh right.
I repeat we are their biggest and most profitable market in the world. It's very simple.
If the profit margin is so high, then they can absorb the tariffs and still make a profit here whilst turning there attention to building up new markets. In the end they will be better off than now. Your new Italian neighbours will still be able to afford German cars.
We've had fm Italian family move in over the road. Spoke to them tod7ay for the first time. Lol poor old sick boy will be spitting buckets if he hears what they said and their primary driver for moving here.

The Sainsbury's boss has told shoppers that because of Brexit we can all expect higher prices, less choice and poorer quality.
I can't wait and am salivating at the prospect.
Stop complaining and think of Britain as you tuck into your chlorine washed chicken and GM vegetables!

Just we are their highest profit margin market in the world. Nothing major for them I'm being told as there are other markets in the world that they haven't tapped into yet and they want tariffs on their cars. Phew.
Are we bigger than the rest of the EU market combined (genuine question)?Just we are their highest profit margin market in the world. Nothing major for them I'm being told as there are other markets in the world that they haven't tapped into yet and they want tariffs on their cars. Phew.

The thing is the industry leaders of the German car producers have said they will give us no assistance and it's still not believed. Even if they did want to give us special treatment it only takes 1 vote from somewhere like Lithuania to scupper the whole thing as the whole 27 have to agree on the deal. We are not going to get favourable terms and are going to end up worse of because of this. The longer it goes on the more apparent how much of a mistake it is.

Sadly, some people would rather see the country and its people suffer rather than admit the whole thing is a huge mistake. It seems that it's a price worth paying not to hear foreign languages on trains and in the street.
That's just childish. Have a reasoned debate rather than we are all racists. It's weak.
It is exactly the point, according to your logic they won't upset their biggest market. If their biggest market is the EU rather than the UK, who won't they upset?I don't know the answer but It's not the point either way. The point is German car companies sell and make a lot of money in the UK. That's the point.
There are a lot of barking mad statements on here.Sadly, some people would rather see the country and its people suffer rather than admit the whole thing is a huge mistake. It seems that it's a price worth paying not to hear foreign languages on trains and in the street.
Hi Mr Cable. Still want to reverse the result?
Calling names then saying someone else is childish. You've done yourself proud. That's just childish. Have a reasoned debate rather than we are all racists. It's weak.
