On the BBC news they've just referred to Merkel as "torpedoing" the deal and that she's "blown it out of the water"
It's a bit of an unfortunate choice of wording when you think about it !

You might be right or it might just be a case of quite clearly we have not been told...yet?But we can negotiate new deals and have them ready to sign, we were told this would happen, quite clearly it hasn't and isn't going to, (which is to be expected when we don't know the terms of our exit), so when we leave the economy is going to take a battering.
Government spending is already up and expected to increase even more significantly in the case of no deal. Clearly the outlook isn't good.
Oh my...the Daily Mail. You'll be voting Brexit Party next, out of some warped sympathy or whatever it was when you voted UKIP.It’s not history. It’s happening now. America’s gun laws are directly contributing to gun crimes in Mexico which in turn makes people want to leave Mexico for America. The flow of guns has also made the gangs formidable and powerful so they can organise smuggling rings into America for drugs and people to cross the border. America is arming and facilitating the very people they’re building a wall to keep out.
Mexico's spiraling homicide rate and gang violence is being fueled by smuggled American guns | Daily Mail Online

Unless someone conjures up a wonderful deal. Not going to happen though is it.
Of course it is. We have the power of positive thinking and everyone is falling over themselves to beg us to deal with them.
The only thing that Brexit seems to have proven is that we’re no more relevant as a country than any other in the EU and on that basis we’re simply outnumbered regardless of how positive we are.
A bit like when Remain effectively said we wouldn't be able to travel to the EU. Yeah, because Spain, Greece etc can really turn away their biggest revenue stream...
I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make there other than the threat to tourism wasn’t an ace up our sleeve the same as French cheese and German cars wasn’t.
It implies that the deal was ever sea ready in the first place. The BBC is pathetic.
It was a deal..... Boris presented it to them and Merkel and his mates have countered it and made it impossible to agree toIt’s not a deal!!!
It’s a proposal. May had a deal. It’s no more a deal than me asking the Ferrari dealership to sell me one for £1
That's because we had a tentative one foot in, one foot out negotiation strategy.

A thread I don't post in usually.
The Labour position of either their deal or remain in the EU after another referendum is something I really just can't get my head around.
if we are to have a second referendum, which to me seems to just ignores the democratic will of the first referendum, shouldn't the choices be between a no deal break from the EU, and the revised deal labour potentially has to offer.
Labour didn't lead us into this apocafuckup. That's like criticising the 9/11 cleanup op. But you just get on with it, eh?
Haha I'm a fan of democracy too, shame most people on this thread aren'tI am a fan of Democracy. .
“Where do you want to go?” “Anywhere” “How about X?” “Oh no, not there”.
JUST PICK A FUCKING RESTAURANT KAREN!!
I am a fan of Democracy. I think both the main parties lead us in to this with the idea of not asking the people with whom they are meant to represent their views on the subject. If you ignore us joining the common market for the moment, the EU was dreamt up in Thatcher's time and not a referendum on what has changed much of how we live and what we do with our lives, until three years ago by any of the parties, is the biggest travesty of them all.

No comparison is it. We shall see at the next elections if the representatives will change due to them not respecting the majority of what people voted forWhat are your thoughts on the democratically elected representatives of the people?

You saying people didn’t know what they were voting for in 2017? That voters were poorly informed and we need another vote now the facts have come to light?

Which is not the same thing

This is utter tosh at its absolute best.If you’re a fan of Democracy, you’ll hate Brexit. Considering it’s against the current will of the people according to polls and has been for two years and also involves overriding our democratically elected representatives.
How long have you known that Merkel is a bloke ?It was a deal..... Boris presented it to them and Merkel and his mates have countered it and made it impossible to agree to

Only one poll that counts. That would be the referendum which holds the democratic mandate of around 33 million voters.
On a side note political parties would wish to have a political mandate like that.
