It's not grown much over the last few days then, I'm sure it was about 16,100 when I last checked on Wednesday.

I'm not knocking those making an effort, but 16k in the "internet age" is pathetic

Yep, for a start where are the other 15k who attended the Crewe game assuming that the 16.3k that have already signed it are cov fans?!

if it was a door to door petition 16 k would be admirable, but the 4 billion people on the internet and we get 16k?

It does seem strange given we're a massive club, with a huge angry following and a massive catchment are of waiting and willing fans. It's quite depressing really, especially as it take about 60 seconds to fill out the form.

It's now 18th out of 5,633 epetitions currently open for people to sign!

The Enemy have posted a link on their facebook page saying: "Please read and sign this everyone. Its important for our home city and could happen to any football club across the land. Its time to make a stand!!!!! Coventry City belongs in COVENTRY!"

16,000 signatures is more people than have been at a CCFC home league game since April 2012, and higher than any league home attendance while we've been in League One.

On a separate thread - http://www.skybluestalk.co.uk/threads/42634-Feeling-really-fed-up-with - I've listed things people can do to help push the petition and in addition there's going on other forums, some people on twitter are contacting journos etc. so plenty of things to do to keep numbers increasing!

About 1,000 in the last week. Not nearly enough people give a fuck.

I got in the region of 20 non-Coventry fans to sign in Dorset on day 1. Clearly not enough others are badgering enough.

How the hell have only about 13-14k with a CV postcode signed it? Coventry is a fucking huge city. Pathetic.

Well yes it shows apathy and disinterest. Its embarrasing.

Being 18th out of 5,633 epetitions currently open for people to sign is a massive tribute to the efforts of a lot of City fans and we have a year to reach 100k. Your views are so distorted they no longer bear any relation to reality. You used to be an interesting poster. What went wrong?

It's had no real promotion Citywide as yet
Bar a few mentions in BBC sports broadcasts and possibly the CT back pages.

Tbf It may be reliant on some funding to get
the. message out to the whole electorate,,maybe an approach to the Chamber of commerce
to take out a couple of full page ads In the CT

Spot on, Wingy. But kcic doesn't have any money so that's why putting up posters/flyers in car/house windows, shops, pubs etc is the next step. People are starting to volunteer to do different areas and more offers of help would be very welcome!

Not really. It's got enough to demand a response. I wonder why it hasn't had one yet, it's the highest ranked on for the department that hasn't had an answer.

You know most of these don't get to 100k don't you?

It shows that most people never come into contact with the Club apart from matchdays is what it shows, which is worrying when you think about what will be left when we come back to Cov.

The fact of the matter is the likes of us who frequent fora and read every article on NewsNow can be measures in our tens, possible a couple of hundred.

I stand corrected! Cheers, smouch

Any idea when we can expect a response from Government Michael?

There are lots of petitions with lower amounts that have had one and we're past the 10k needed. Can you ask your MP to chase it (if not already)?

There's others that haven't closed that have a reply so you shouldn't have to wait for that.

As an eternal optimist I'm taking this as a positive sign ie they haven't just posted a standard meaningless statement and with football governance being such a hot topic it hopefully means some thought is being given to how to reply. On the other hand it might just be that the relevant person is on holiday

THey may debate and ignore like they did with the school holiday thing. Hopefully not.

Finally got that email through to the PFA today so hopefully all players at all Clubs will be circulated
Thought I'd ask while I was In there if they'd had any involvement or were aware of conditions within the club

So 450 in the last 5 days, 90 per day, and slowing.

The rate from here needs to be about 250 per day to hit the 100k before the cut off. Done in my head so apologies if its a bit wayward.

Michael - your work is admirable but is it worth the hassle of fighting this losing battle? Not anywhere near enough people give a shit.

Are foreigners allowed to sign it? The reason I ask is, as well as being a city fan, I'm also a member of a particular German supporters club. Would we be wasting our time reaching out to foreign clubs?

According to Smouch at post #510 he's an Australian citizen and signed, so go for it!

There'll be peaks and troughs. The initial peak worked well. There's now a trough while the focus on Cov and Warks takes time to get going. We're roughly one sixth of the way and have used only one twelth of the time so well on track.

My understanding is that it can only be singed by UK residents, so nationality doesn't come into it (I am and Irish national and signed)- you just have to live in the UK.

To create or sign an e-petition, you must be either:

  • a British citizen
  • a resident in the UK (you normally live in the UK

I can't just go for it without knowing for sure, Michael. I'd need conformation that it would be effective, before campaigning for signatures. Things like this would have to be viewed by their committee. It's the German way.

Sorry for the delay replying - the epetition website says: "To create or sign an e-petition, you must be either: a British citizen or a resident in the UK (you normally live in the UK)".

I took Smouch's post as meaning he lived in Australia but he'd been able to sign - I guess what he means was he's an Aussie citizen living in the UK so he was able to sign. Just as a UK citizen living overseas can sign. So I think I was right in the first place ie a non uk citizen not living in the uk can't sign

Gents,

Rather than having a few threads about the petition, I thought it would be good to have everything on one thread going forward. Much great work has been done by many on here, main credit to Michael for organising and well done to all for taking to the challenge.

Please post your updates on this thread from now on and remember to update the spreadsheet that Shmmeee has kindly put together:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...VwD_rBswPKGdwFCjIN6YuE/edit?usp=sharing&pli=1

Anyone can edit this link (please don't abuse it or corrupt it). Once we exhausted all fans forums etc, we can look at our next foot forward. Shmmeee...for what it's worth, can you add on the Scottish clubs and Conference...can't remember if the Conference is on there or not. A link to the petition:

http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/59884

Currently at 6,900....this has gone up about 2,000 in the past 24 hours...momentum is building. Good luck...spread the word....let's do this!

WM

PS. Thanks Nick for making it a Sticky.

Hi,

I have noticed this petition has started to slow down and with only 16000 signed this is going to be a struggle to get the 100, 000 we need.

I was wondering if its worth putting a petition on here.

http://www.38degrees.org.uk/

In this way we target a wider audience and everybody receives an email. I receive weekly email from this company every since I signed a petition about 3 years ago so I no this would be an option worth looking at.
