There was a compulsory purchase order on the houses behind the west end
Should make some people very happy if they change the seats.
I think the excitement and atmosphere was more a case of having something to get excited about which hasn't really happened at the Ricoh. If we had moved to the Ricoh and stormed into the premier league I'm sure we would have a different view.
With the benefit of hindsight we should have stayed but how much would it have costed to completely rebuild 3 stands? You would also need to buy up houses behind each of the stands as we were pretty tightly locked in.
I have a vague memory of this being looked into at some point many years ago and it being declared a non starter but I can't really remember anymore than that.
Of course an old and decrepit HR with no rebuilt stands would be a better situation to be in than hte one we are in now.

Individuals did all right out of the new stadium (thank you very much).

Many other clubs have done it. Staying at HR was the prefered option for me. I was never really caught up in the new stadium thing.
Some memories fade. Like the days where we were lucky to get 9k.
Some memories fade. Like the days where we were lucky to get 9k. But I love going to old style grounds more than the recent ones. For some reason you seem to have a better laugh in old grounds. And a right bonus if you get to go in a stand without seats.
Maybe it is me trying to bring back my youth
Remember the dons game , half the kop were in the red horse by h/t. I think we won it in the last min.I can vaguely remember a game against Wimbledon, must have been late 80s or early 90s. It was terrible weather and the ground was about a third full. At one point it was hailing so much into the kop that people had to turn their backs to the game. It was a dreadful game and if memory serves me correctly we lost to a late own goal.
I like how they come out and say they won't be changing seats, then if they do it won't be that they were lying it will be tim fishers fault.
They run it, they can do what they want with it
It's not that though is it, Nick. It's the fact that Wasps said they wanted CCFC to stay and wanted to work with the football club and said they would leave the seats sky blue.
CCFC though have said they have no intention of staying and therefore it is absolutely pointless keeping the sky blue seats.
The goal posts moved.
I wouldn't say pointless, why would Wasps risk alienating the majority of there new 'fan base' by changing the seats whilst the football club remain at the Ricoh?
True, even so if they could afford it. It would be a dangerous thing to do whilst the club remain there. Why go to the expense when they have more important things to pay?

Dangerous? Lol
I did actually say if they could afford to do it. Obviously pointless if they haven't got the money spare to do it.
Yes dangerous, why would they risk upsetting the majority of people who are attending there games?
I think Mr Fisher and his approach of denying that they wanted the stadium bit him in the arse.
The people that are attending their games are Wasps supporters. Why would it upset Wasps supporters to change the seat colours to Wasps colours?

If it was just Wasps supporters going to to the Ricoh they would probably be getting less than 8k (very generous estimate)Come on Otis, there's a heck of a lot of CCFC supporters going to wasps games. If it's just wasps supporters going to the game who were the other 24k that attended their first game at the Ricoh?

They aren't Wasps supporters though, to claim so is bizarre, you don't gain 10,000 supporters overnight. We know the majority are from CV postcodes and that a lot are on free tickets and a lot of those just going for entertainment/day out/something different.
Its safe to assume the majority of them from CV postcodes have no affiliation to Wasps before the move in 2014, I'd also wager a very high % of these have been to a CCFC game within the last 5 years.
Wasps are getting a lot of undeserved support from the local community at the moment, a sure way to lose that support would be to change the seats and going out of there way to upset the football club who have been here for over a 100 years.
There is a simple answer, Coventry change to Wasps colours. Easier to change 11 shirts than 30,000 seats. It's time we got rid of the sky blue anyway and you have to admit yellow and black is a distinctive combination. Maybe Wasps could become our new shirt sponsors.

We know the majority are from CV postcodes (something like over 70% of all tickets sold I think, then we have all the freebies going around Coventry) and that a lot are on free tickets and a lot of those just going for entertainment/day out/something different.

If people are going up to watch Wasps play I don't they would be the slightest bothered about Wasps changing the seating.

Distinctive? Like Barnet, Burton and Cambridge, Wolves and not too dissimilar to Bradford?

It's not bizarre. I don't think I maybe explained myself properly.
The ground is Wasps. CCFC have said they are not staying. What I am saying is why would anyone going up to watch Wasps play at the Ricoh be bothered by Wasps changing the colours to Wasps colours?
Maybe I shouldn't have used the word 'fans.'

Another possibility is to keep the sky blue but as the away strip. Switch to yellow and black as the home strip, we already have yellow and blue as the away strip, we would just need new shorts.
