Need a goal. I know, let's take Aguero off. Mind boggling.
tbh it's not working for them up front. If his reputation wasn't so big, you could have made a case for taking Messi off ahead of Aguero, too!

Yeah maybe you're right. Argentina are just a poor side. I can see why they struggled in qualifying.

Argentina manager looking like he's about to have either a mental breakdown, heart attack or a fight with someone. Looks as desperate as some of his teams play.

Messi has had an absolute stinker.
He has. I know it's been done before and it's a bit dull to do it again, but really not sure you can call him one of the true, true greats (obviously he is for his club side!) until he has a half decent world cup.

Still time in this one for it to come right, of course, but isn't looking promising!

To be fair to him he did almost single handedly drag them into this world cup, that's how poor their qualifying was. He's been marked into total anonymity by Iceland and now Croatia. Advantage Ronaldo in the "world's best player" stakes on the basis of this world cup.

Modric with a beauty of a goal.

Can’t help but watch this tournament and think there will never be a better chance for a side outside of Brazil, Spain, Germany, Argentina & France to win it!

Three Argentina players stood still looking clueless and/or for offside. Croatia were lining up to score.

You have to credit Croatia. Plain and simple, did the better job. Nullified Argentina, closed down like sharks hunting their prey, and punished Argentina for their mistakes. Modric adds his name to the goal of the tournament contenders list, a finish of real quality. Messi left frustrated, having been anonymous in both games.

If Argentina sneak 2nd they’ll play France in the 2nd round

Could be some ‘big’ nations that make it through the group not making the quarters.

Set for a Croatia to make it to the semis or finals

Also set for England to make a real go of it...

I'm not getting too excited but I can see potential. So many other big teams have looked lost. It's really amazing actually.

Problem is, how many times have we seen teams start slowly but then get into their stride, while those who start well burn out quickly?

Won't be getting my hopes up just yet.
