Robins did say we need a larger squadWould be a massive squad
Was well known mate, we plumped for Bright instead for some fucking reason
Bright was most likely signed because by the time Paterson made up his mind on our contract offer, much of the budget was already spent and so they had to settle for a cheap alternative.
But that’s no different from about 86 other clubs in the football league. Players can force sales quite easily as well You only have to look at McGuire going to Man Utd. The reality of us as a club is every player has a value if that’s met the club will sell.Neither can I - but that’s not the point - from the club’s point of view they have 3 sellable assets and need funds. If they get the right price they will sell as shown by dave’s comments in january
I wasn’t just shipping out 7 to get 1 though. They also extended contracts on 5 others players irrespective of whether you think it was a good use of the funds Robins obviously did.My concern isn’t so much that we’ll sell, but that we haven’t got the wage budget to improve the depth or quality of the squad overall. We had to ship out seven players to get one free in. I don’t see how you add the 5/6 quality players needed without increasing the wage bill which while we’re self sufficient and incompetent commercially compared to other clubs of our size won’t be increasing.
I would potentially loan Tav till January to a League 1/League 2 club for mens football and loan in a quick striker from the Prem until jan and then give Tav a shot after some mens football, well that is if he performed wellI don't think we need massive changes in midfield. I was really pleased with Sheaf, Allen, Hamer and O'Hare. We need to remember that they have another Championship season under their belt which they would have benefitted from. Same with Godden and Vic. I think if we could get the Chelsea boys, the same would apply. For me, I think we need to change McFaz, as much as I like him, I think his legs are going. I would keep Tavares (maybe loan him out until Christmas) and look to get in another striker. So for me I would get rid of the following:
Kelly
McFadz
Waghorn
Walker
Shipley.
If we get any offers get shot of Kane and Bidwell, although I still think they would be decent squad players but not starters.
get shot of bidwell hahaha, we only signed him in January on a 3 year deal and he hasnt even been that badI don't think we need massive changes in midfield. Yep I’m pretty sure we didn’tNot Patterson, Im talking about Twine
I hope you’re right with that. I’d still be concerned at CB as I think we need 5 in the squad. We can’t keep getting in a position when we’re relying on Dabo and Sheaf to cover the shortfall as I expect Fadz will if given another 12 month contract play a lot less than this season. If we’re able to get £50k/wk back from shipping out Walker, Kelly, Shipley, Waghorn, Dacosta, Hilßner and Pask. Plus offload Jones, Drysdale, and a few of the U23s and send the two loans back. I can see us running with something like this assuming no sales.
Moore/Wilson
Dabo/Kane
Bidwell/LWB
Hyam/Rose
Fadz/CB
LCB
Hamer/Eccles/Howley
Sheaf/Allen
O’Hare/AM
Györkeres/ST
Godden/Tavares
With a couple of loans and three or four signings. Well have to hit the mark with every signing for that to work out IMO.
Its not true
You’ve changed your tune…
Transfer Rumour - Scott Twine
May be bollocks but heard from a decent source (same bloke who told me Ricoh return sorted a week before Gilbert said anything) that we're one if a number of clubs interested. Wages could be higher at higher championship club's that are interested but Twine has faith in our development model...www.skybluestalk.co.uk

So hard keeping track of who is ITK and who just talks bollocks confidently. This is what we really need Grendels spreadsheet to track.
Three pronged attack next season of Mick Quinn, Fat Ronaldo and Akinfenwa.Robins did say we need a larger squad
Hamer and Gyokeres were somewhat marquee signings with pedigree and potential prior to signing for us. So offering long term deals for signings who have cost a significant sum, are young and have potential is a given.
What's strange though is how the club also offers similar length contracts to signings who have a much higher risk factor attached than most such as Jobello and Kastaneer.
What kind of strategy is that?
You're also misinterpreting my critique. I'm fully aware we have to take more calculated risks than most due to our budgetary constraints so I've never really taken that much issue with the type of player we've targeted in the past, bar a few.
My core issue is how we have no risk mitigation strategy in place whatsoever and insist on giving long term contracts to players that simply aren't deserving of them. Which is nothing short of problematic when our recruitment strategy is arguably higher in risk than the vast majority of clubs in our league.
Asked if City are still looking to unearth potential gems in the European market or whether more red tape brought about by Brexit has changed the club’s policy now that there are more bureaucratic hoops to jump through, Robins told Coventry Live : “I think the reality of that is that it could be a good thing because it hasn’t always been a success. It’s been a limited success we have had. Certainly we have to do better, there’s no doubt about that.”
Unfortunately I can see this happening we rarely seem to get best value when we sell.

We need a full squad ourselves with the new 5 player substitute rules probably an outfield squad of 22 so loaning out players knocking the first team door like Taveres would be daft imo. and possibly why the likes of Shipley, Walker and Waghorne will stay another season, unless MR is given licence to draft in five or six better players.
Shipley should of gone in jan fuck know wtf robins was upto not taking the feeIf players aren't moved on I'd be surprised if Robins is able to bring in more than two/three signings in the summer.
Walker had to go to get Bidwell in but he will be back so that’s another big wage,I can’t see us going at it too much this summer, forein hasn’t worked British is expensiveWe need a full squad ourselves with the new 5 player substitute rules probably an outfield squad of 22 so loaning out players knocking the first team door like Taveres would be daft imo. and possibly why the likes of Shipley, Walker and Waghorne will stay another season, unless MR is given licence to draft in five or six better players.

I hope walker comes back. I honestly don’t think he’s bad - the two games he started (bburn and preston) he scored twiceWalker had to go to get Bidwell in but he will be back so that’s another big wage,I can’t see us going at it too much this summer, forein hasn’t worked British is expensive
Forest finished below us last season and now look at them, they've bought in some very good loans!Clever use of the loan market and out of contract players perhaps can’t see any fees being paid. Be interesting what budget Robins gets, we’ll probably never know but since last season gates have increased as have season tickets.
Players in the championship whose contract is running out i’d like realistically :
Josh Bowler - AM - Blackpool - not realistic
Kristian Pederson - LWB - Birmingham -not realistic
Joe rothwell - CM - Blackburn
Darragh Lenihan - CB- Blackburn
Timm Klose - CB - Bristol city - not realistic
Josh Murphy - AM/Winger - Cardiff
Joe ralls - CM - Cardiff
George Honeyman - AM - Hull
Malik Wilks - Am/ST - Hull
Tom Barkhuizen - Am - Preston
Scott sinclair - ST - Preston
John Swift - CM/CAM - Reading - not realistic
Josh Laurent - CM - Reading - not realistic
Andy Yiadom - RWB - reading
David Mcgoldrick - ST - Sheff utd - past it Waghorn mk 2
Nick Powell - CM - Stoke - not realistic
Mario Vrancic - CAM - Stoke - not realistic
Yan Dhanda - CAM - Swansea
After walker’s awful performances at Portsmouth I doubt anyone would take him even on a loanWalker had to go to get Bidwell in but he will be back so that’s another big wage,I can’t see us going at it too much this summer, forein hasn’t worked British is expensive
