On a different tack schools are very aware of the need for safeguarding now but it can be very tricky when you see a girl, for example, dressing and acting in, what can tactfully be described as a "trashy" way. Define the problem and try to enlist parents. How do you tell her mum who dresses or acts the same? This becomes a kind of class/race culture argument. We can dress how we like, speak how we like etc. Maybe the girl is being given too much freedom or maybe parent is at work, ill, caring for relatives etc. Girl then acts like this with older boys. Who is in the wrong? The boys or the girl? The parents? We all know boys are like bees round a honey tree when such a girl seems to be up for it. If the boys are Muslim and treat their own sisters as PAs to supply them with pens, lunch, do you suspect them of being involved in the same abuse? These boys know they cannot touch girls from their own community and some of them are tempted to go with the white girls. It's a big problem and schools have little clue how to handle it.

If a 13 year old girl acts like it around any grown man then I'd say they are still to blame whether they are up for it or not.

When I was at school about 14 or 15 there were always the girls who hung around with older lads who had cars who were about 17 or 18 which is still wrong but don't remember anything like middle aged blokes and gang abuse.

I do remember a rumour of a girl shagging loads of gypsys though which I guess isn't too dissimilar.

In the drama last night it was an older white schoolboy who invited the first girl to his house after school and that was where it began. Then the taxis collecting them from school penned them in to the abuse. So, what I'm saying is that schools are aware that they have a duty to be vigilant for signs of this going on. In my school I reported to senior managers that I had seen a taxi waiting two streets away at home time, containing two men. It may have been totally innocent but I think we all need to look out for this.

In last nights episode it failed to mention Islam or the fact they were Muslim (I could be wrong on this) which is a strange omission I think

Watchinf it now. Whats islam got to do with it? Its more about small section of pakistani community and thats been mentioned loads already.

A lot like i expected so far. Dad cant articulate himself. Doesnt seem educated. Daighter has no manners. Swears st her dad. Her mates are all chavs. Doesnt seem to relaise that drinking every day aint right. Parents just allow it happen acting all helpless. Whateve rhappened to grounding child and a lil discipline?

Pathetic that i even have to put a disclaimer but this is all MINIMAL to the adult men using rewards to befriend underage girls and then forcr them into sex and threaten their lives!

Onto thr police bit now. This is gonna annoy me with them not acting right away.

Grooming gangs exist amongst all cultures and is not confined to Islam. The likes of Tommy Robinson using it to attack Muslims as a whole should be widely condemned.

Agree, but whether they are white, black, red, yellow or green and the victims are either there should be no worry of discrimination when dealing with them.

Police being reluctant to prosecute will.only.make race matters worse anyway.

It encourages vigilantes then and people being tarred with the same brush. The guy is phoning up threatening and knocking the door to get at young kids, he has girls saying he raped them.

Not sure where the worry would be in prosecuting him.

I don't get why the dad didn't do it. I wanted to do it for him and he isn't the actual dad.

It's the bit where they told the parents she was a prostitute that got me, as if it was normal.

Yes indeed. I guess the girls called it right. The police would not protect them 24/7. The gang would get to them.
If you read about the case on wiki, it says,

Senior began to find evidence around 2001 of what appeared to be a localised-grooming network. Most Risky Business clients had previously come from Sheffield, which had a red-light district. Now the girls were younger and came from Rotherham. Girls as young as 10 were being befriended, perhaps by children their own age, before being passed to older men who would rape them and become their "boyfriends". Many of the girls were from troubled families, but not all. The children were given alcohol and drugs, then told they had to repay the "debt" by having sex with other men. The perpetrators set about obtaining personal information about the girls and their families—where their parents worked, for example—details that were used to threaten the girls if they tried to withdraw. Windows at family homes were smashed; threats were made to rape mothers and younger sisters. The children came to believe that the only way to keep their families safe was to cooperate.[f][54][55]

One girl who came to the attention of Risky Business was repeatedly raped from age 13–15, and believed her mother would be the next victim: "They used to follow my mum because they used to know when she went shopping, what time she had been shopping, where she had gone."[56][54] A 15-year-old was told she was "one bullet" away from death.[57] Girls were doused in petrol and told they were about to die.[58] When she told her "pimp" that she was pregnant and did not know who the father was, one 15-year-old was beaten unconscious with a clawhammer.[59] A 12-year-old with a 24-year-old "boyfriend" had a mother who invited the perpetrators into the family home, where the girl would give the men oral sex for 10 cigarettes.[57]

Yeah. Although to be fair to him in todays world whats stopping those teenagers coming outside and kixking his skull in?

I think anothrt issue is these girls are seen as sub human and trash. All women should be seen as sisters and mothers. Lust is a bad thing.

Meanwhile the police did next to nothing and the social workers seemed to think it was a "lifestyle choice" of the girls!

I am not sure where you would even have that thought process.

A 12-year-old with a 24-year-old "boyfriend" had a mother who invited the perpetrators into the family home, where the girl would give the men oral sex for 10 cigarettes.

Disgusting. I guess for me its easier to say just tell policd.

But if you in fear of family being killed it makes it a very tough decision.

Have these fuckers all gone to jail by now or what?

Yes but again thats how people are brought up to see girls isn't it? It's a bit like when you see the gypsys grabbing.

I don't think I'd think about my skull being kicked in, I'd be going through the door with all sorts. Then it would be a case of them vanishing one by one into the back of a van and being found in the sea or something.

I've just watched this on iplayer. I hadn't heard of the program until I saw it on here. As someone who was brought up in care and witnessed sexual abuse by nuns and priests, I thought I wouldn't be too affected. How wrong I was. Inside, I was torn apart imagining the hell these poor kids had gone through. I don't believe in any god whatsoever but I hope these kids have someone or something to turn to, so they get help to cope with their future, because believe me, when you've been there yourself, you never forget.

It doesn't matter, grooming gangs may exist under many communities, but they are massively over represented in Pakistani/Muslim demographics and that is a huge problem.

Tommy Robbinson might be using it to suit his agenda but he is actually the only fucker brave enough to takle it. The fact the tv series omitted 'Islam' from its programme is alarming, and shows how hard it is to tackle this issue properly. Just like how 1,300 girls were assaulted and nothing was done. It's nothing but disgraceful.
