TM on his way ?? (1 Viewer)

If you think he's the right man for the job, why wouldn't you negotiate now with contingencies for whether we stay up or go down?

We've had this kind of rubbish before from SW, with players like Murphy who might have stayed had the club been a bit quicker to talk to him. It is, as with most things SISU, piss-poor planning...

Thing is, we don't know if this til the summer thing is of Mowbray's own volition.

Not just Waggot tbf.

Was policy right at the beginning. The likes of Morrison and McKenzie were kept hanging on to the last moments for contracts, Westwood too...

"There are some really good young players here, the future is bright."

Who's just said that? Errrm, Coventry City's new manager, Dave Hockaday

I suspect that he will leave regardless of the outcome on Sunday. Unless there is a strategic way forward for the Club and squad with a view to being promoted then he will go. And there is no evidence in the slightest.

Well done on recruiting him, at least it has given us a chance to stay up ... but then what?

This is how I see it too. If we did go down there is no way he would stay, and it would not harm his CV too much as we were on the way down anyway. But Mowbray needed a way back into the game and we provided that in the short term. So if he keeps us up -against the odds - there will be bigger clubs than us wanting his services. A Championship club will snap him up, I fear. That is regardless of what resources CCFC promise him, there will be a better offer on the table than our basket-case club. Who could blame him?

"Coventry still need a point at Crawley on the final day to be certain of survival , but either way it's likely they will be looking for a new manager. Temporary boss Tony Mowbray turned on his team after the 3-1 home defeat by Crewe and the former Middlesbrough boss who is only contracted until the end of Sunday's game, has told friends he'll be back home in the North East next day"

Both the Newcastle and Sunderland job will be available this summer. Bye bye TM

I would say that it depends on us staying up and then how much they are willing to back him. Would he want it in a contract that he would be free to leave if they never kept to their word?

tbh it'll boil down to whether he can get a better job elsewhere.

Bet Adams wishes he'd spoken to West Brom when he had the chance after all.

If he ends up at Acrrington I wouldn't be happy(!) but if he gets a half-sane club with a not overly large negative bank balance and a ground close to existing, then he'd be a slightly odd man indeed not to take the chance.

Then again... he's taken us on to begin with, and that's slightly odd! Does he live in the area? Is it easy piun money to pay off a mortgage or something?

I am not sure that he will believe anything Waggott says so think now that he might be off, there will be some far more attractive jobs in the championship going maybe he will be lucky and get the Leeds one and go from one shitty owner to another.

If we stay up I still think he'll stay - if he were to walk away after keeping us up, in somewhat unconvincing fashion, I think it would reflect badly upon him and look like he didn't think he's got what it takes to turn it around. I don't see that a host of clubs are looking at him and thinking 'what a job he's done there at Coventry, lets snap him up'.

Was that Pin or Pun NW? You reckon he might have taken us on as a joke ? ;)

If I was a betting man, I'd say he won't be here but I'm not sure which bit of that paragraph says he won't be here next season. It's not uncommon for people to go home an take a break at the end of the season. There will be no training, whats he going to do? Sit in his hotel room for a week? I imagine most of the players will be going home to visit friends and family after the Crawley match.

utter bollocks
They're moving us to the north east and we will be known as the Jarrow sky blues, the sky blue trust will organise a protest march from Gosford green to Jarrow with banner's such as "Marching for JOB" and "give us our club back cannie lad".

Nearer to home for Waggott as well I guess are there any nice empty stadia up there that we can pay virtually nothing for and then sell it back to the locals? Or is that another thread!

I wouldn't be surprised if TF and SW don't want him to stay. TM sounds too much like he knows what he's talking about. Them pair need a fall guy between themselves and the real world for protection of their own positions and I can't see them getting away with it with TM like they did with the likes of SP and AT.

Maybe its just his style but there is nothing I have heard or read from him that gives me any confidence he is going to stay after next weekend - regardless of whether we stay up or not.
Again, he might be just a miserable git generally but every interview with him seems like being at Coventry is a chore with no sense he is enjoying it.

It's not just the manager who thinks were are a chore, 20,000 have agreed with him since the first game back, they obviously haven't enjoyed it either

Whether we stay up or go down Waggott and fisher need to go or be sacked by our lovely joy...
A fresh broom is needed in the summer but I can't see Sisu giving any manager much in the way of funds.
If I were a season ticket holder and I was once I certainly wouldn't hand over my hard earnt money until I see something positive and concrete on offer by our lovely owners.

I think whatever division we are in Tony Mowbray will stay, so long as Waggott and Fisher allow him to run the playing side of things from top to bottom. TM will have noticed the potential here and i think it has enthused him. Going down although a massice kick in the teeth can be and has proved to be a springboard to better things just look at Swansea, Burnley and now Bournemouth. I also think relegation might be the straw that breaks the sisu camels back and they piss off. Don't get me wrong i don't want relegation at all but so long as TM stays for atleast one season i think we could kick onwards and upwards. Fans are talking of being promotion challengers next season in this division so we can be in a lower division.

I would like Mowbray to stay. However if we go down I cannot see it. Yes he had limited time and had to work with what he inherited....but his remit was to keep us in this division.

I do not think this is a top six squad, like some, but it is good enough to stay at this level. So he needs to fulfil the task set.

Even if we stay up I am not a 100 per cent happy it will happen.....time will tell.

I think he is vertually gone regardless. The short term deal was hardly a comittment from the club which means he is going to be looking anyway. If we go down he is a manager with some pedigree and will be looked at by alot of championship & some prem clubs. His NE roots might attract the big two in that area particularly with Mike Ashley's way of working, he will be relatively cheap and ticks the 'local' box.

We will be back to square one after Sunday in my opinion but i think we either need to conclude 'negotiations' early and put a manager in place which has the summer to work with what players we have left in the club ratehr than piss around like we normally do. I hope TM stays but i just cannot see it.

Although good enough i doubt very much if Newcastle or Sunderland would look to Mowbray, their fans wouldn't accept it, they see themselves as big clubs and would be pushing for some foriegn name

16th with only 4 games remaining.......you'd like to think a manager worth his wage would be able to galvanise the team for the run in from that position......

Of course, there is also the possibility that if we do go down, we may get "stuck" with TM cos no-one else will want him......
