Walker is 32, and currently third choice (at best) for a team that occasionally only plays 1 upfront. By the end of this season he could very easily find himself fourth or even fifth choice, and yet he is supposedly one of the higher earners.
Personally I'd sooner off load him for free and utilise the wage to bring in someone who will actually compete for a starting place in an area of the pitch where we need strengthening.

Walker aint 32 surely?

There seems to be a few players around 21 possibly available for loans Bernard being one who might be available for permanent deals next season with the new loaning out rules.

They are comparable for the level we are now at.

People often forget walker was our top goalscorer in his first season here, before last year at Portsmouth his scoring record at lower levels was good.

I'm not saying he is going to be first choice. But I'm not sure why people think we are going to be able to get someone significantly better as a 3rd choice striker on less wages when we are now a more established 2nd tier side. The wages he is on are still mediocre at best for the level.

I don't love walker, in fact I don't think any player is beyond selling/replacing and if we can upgrade then we should. But if course I do think there is potential there, and I want him to do well, but I just don't think there is going to be many players out there that we could afford that would be an upgrade (at least not on a permanent contract).

We should be upgrading several players, Walker being one of them. However, I don't think our scouting and budget restrictions mean we're up to it.

There's four or five players that shouldn't realistically play for us this season but now it looks like we're settling, even when as recently as the end of last season it was said they would probably be moved on.

Which 4 or 5 players are these?

I hope he isn’t trying to convince you or I. I hope he’s trying to convince robins and vivesh that he intends to turn his career around. I doubt personally he can or will do that but would be pleased if he does.
I suspect that everyone starts the new season with a clean slate and it's up to them to prove to Adi/Robins that they deserve more game time than last season.

Some may have blown it already (Cashman?) and others may have changed their thinking (Walker?).

I must say that everyone looks trim on their return to training, which is a reflection on the type of person/player the recruitment team would have aimed for.

They submitted a bid two weeks ago…now they’re just keen!

Throw the valuation out there for good measure

This is an agent-planted story if ever I've seen one. And I've seen a lot in my line of work 😂 no bid, no enquiry, no personal terms, just some vague statement that doesn't need to be defended if a move doesn't happen.

Imagine if players just cut agents loose and went in on negotiating their own terms and cutting out the middle man trying to grab a slice of something he didn't bake. Perhaps make the journos work a bit harder too
