Possibly would have done if our recruitment team hadn't left for Blackpool with their database of players....
I mean the CEO is not exactly dynamic but surely any database collated whilst employed by CCFC is the intellectual property of CCFC (not that it gives any primary rights to sign any players on it). If not, what the fucking hell is going on?

I'm sure it is... my post was slightly tongue in cheek!....
But if you have played a part in compiling said list, you are going to remember a bit about it!

If King retains Boddy as CEO I think that will be a real reflection of his ambition or lack of

Well MR says one is ready to go and a fourth a possibility maybe even a fifth two of which have to be permanent. That tells me the names are in the frames just a case of formalities I expect.

Not sure that's relevant to the point I'm making which is not about the fee received as such but the inability of CCFC to turn down a deal altogether
But in all cases bar Maddison they were right to do those deals. I like many fans was frustrated with almost all of those sales but as I say history suggests they leveraged their position to get very good fees for almost all of them

I note that Robins said one is ready and the other could happen or 'work it's way through in the summer'

I took this as a lower your price Swansea message, if not, your be paying his wages for a while longer.

We turned down far more prestigious clubs than Norwich simply because they offered more immediate cash. Then there remains the farcical selling of Hyam on the cheap for the same reason.

Common denominator is refusing or being unable to put anything into the club so leaving it to fend for itself. Maddison and Wilson were generational talents as far as CCFC are concerned, and we had SISU presiding over their sales

If we bang the ex Chelsea drum for every signing, it doesn't look great for our scouting efforts.
You can argue that none of the ex-Chelsea signings have been all that effective. Dabo has been the best one by miles, if that tells you anything. It’s a limited strategy that can only ever get you so far.

I was thinking this yesterday, its definitely been hit and miss.

I'd say Maatsen and Clarke-Salter were successes last year though

We never replaced Maatsen
No doubt Maatsen has gone on to do well this season but I don't really get this view. Bidwell has been a pretty steady Eddie in the wingback role. I think aside from Maatsen's two goals he scored playing in the attacking midfielder role, Bidwell and Maatsen's output has been nearly identical (1 goal, 1 assist I think).

Bidwell has got at least two assists (Godden at Millwall and Allen Saturday) think there might be another. The bigger point is that we give very little away down the left hand side as Bidwell is very solid defensively (Panzo less so but not to be so with Bidwell).

Think the other was the game at Burton.

I think Bidwell is an upgrade on Maatsen at this time, he was either hot or cold when he was here and got caught inside too often with the ball over his head. Bidwell is a steady player never a 9/10 but rarely a 5/10. I would have Bidwell as captain as well.

I think Maatsen has been better for Burnley this year than he was for us…as you’d expect.

I believe Chris Badlan underwent a Severance-style procedure on leaving Ryton.

Bidwell probably more consistent, but not on the same level as Maatsen for me. Maatsen was key in our build up play last year, he was always on the ball, and he used to be such as driver on the left hand side.
