Anyone know what kicked off behind Tesco ? Police surrounding a pretty big group of fans and getting annoyed with other ( Cov) fans who were trying to have a go at them. They temporarily shut the main road .
I was surprised just how many police there were. Perhaps it had been going on for a bit. I'd been shopping in Tesco. A box of celebration already half gone.

A lot of stoke fans were told to get the bus instead of the train but weren’t told where to get the buses. A load seemed to be hanging about looking for the buses at the back of Tesco. When i went past the police were trying to explain to a group of about 20 kids where the buses were.

The scheduled train back to Coventry railway station was cancelled
Little or no guidance re where buses were , even then the problem would have reoccurred in the city centre as they tried to find the railway station

Loads were unsure where to go, big group hanging around Bedlam lane.

Like most ground the signs are very poor you have to chance it you are walking in the right direction.

Find it funny that they have a large expance of no mans land in the carpark for both sets of fans to merge at the top of the hill, what a complete waste of time.

It's an absolute shit show for fans traveling by public transport. The train line will never be sorted so they should organise a proper bus service to and from the station.

Hundreds of Stoke fans travelled by train yesterday and none of them knew how to get home. This is a Championship stadium with 25,000 fans and there's not a proper shuttle service to town.

When the club were pushed on it, Boddy waffled about how there are a few bus routes back into town. That's not good enough. None of them go to the station. Most of them require fans to walk to Folshill Road.

I did notice a bus that had half a dozen police on the top deck and that had 4 police wagons following it in the city centre. Presumably because of some mean football fans from Stoke who all had to get on for the police to justify their presence

At Stoke they do exactly that. Buses laid on outside the away end straight to the station.

Yep, and Reading. Miles from the station but at least there is a very popular shuttle bus priced at £4/5 return. It seems mental that the local transport companies haven't spotted a gap in the market to make money.

Also agree with the tunnel. Obviously they added the second one years back but it's still very tight with the shambolic kettling of fans down there.

I'm still hoping all parties will bang their heads together and finally spend the money to sort that train line out. If Mike Ashley wants to host regular concerts, the stadium needs a station. It's 2023.

Never liked that tunnel after the game. Pre game its sound. After the game i leave the back of the North simtand and go over the green railway bridge towards the back of tesco, just feels safer

It’s often better to just have a last drink at the Anecdote or casino afterwards and let the mayhem die down . There used to be double decker shuttle buses outside the stadium, have they all been scrapped ?

No, but other events have regular shuttle buses to the station. There was buses in place for the Arctic Monkeys gig and the England Women's matches.

It seems no one has actually sat down and discussed it even though it's in the best interests of Transport for West Midlands, WMP and CCFC.

The club need to work together with the police, transport organisations ( rail and bus)
The stewards, who have a thankless task, could be used to guide away fans to these options
Travelling on this train on non match days, replacement buses are used but probably not enough to transport the volume of fans ( both home and away)
The Stoke ground is situated in a very inconvenient area which ids basically a trading estate
They get the away fans buses to the station as a priority

There haven't been double deckers to town since around 2010 I believe.

If they planned it properly, they could create a bus stand like at Reading. £5 return to Cov station.

Had to go through that yesterday. We normally go up the ramp to the right but the coach went to a different place. Proper dodgy, especially with my lad.

I’d think it’s a CCC & Police issue, train going through station is normally only one carriage sometimes two.

As for that ramp it’s an incident waiting to happen after the game.

There haven't been shuttles since 2009? Crowds are up from then, especially away attendances. Parking is incredibly expensive now and we're in a time when car travel is being discouraged.

We must have the most difficult ground to get to by public transport in the top two divisions?

We'd limit it to 3000 and fill the ground ourselves.

I guarantee they would put on shuttle's then. Just like they do for other events at the stadium.

ok mate, i'll add this to the list of things you are clueless about

The bus company lost lots money, they don't want to do put shuttle buses on as they don't think it is worth it for them when they can still make plenty of money on normal routes

It's not about what is best for the supporters, it's capitalism. There won't be shuttle buses while they don't think it is worth their time.
