Trump also saying Ukraine needs an election as Zelensky has a 4% approval rating.

Another line straight from the Kremlin.

To clarify, Zelensky does not have a 4% approval rating and it is indeed much higher than Trump's own approval rating, which is currently -1.4.

The Kremlin told him to say that?

I've never said a Trump-led peace deal was the best outcome and right thing to do?

Maybe I didn't phrase the question very well.

You've said all along a peace deal was the right thing to do. I'm asking if you think that is still the case (given that Trump is leading it)?

As the alternative is 4 more years of death and destruction its the only alternative available

Ah yeah you're right, the Kremlin think Zelensky is a great guy, a legitimate president, and definitely didn't try to depose him, my bad.

No you said Trump was a mouthpiece for the Kremlin - is he?

I said it should have been done a long time ago pre-Trump. At this point there aren't many other options unless the EU and UK replace US funding, which isn't going to happen.

There were always going to be reparations in one form or another from the USA. They do not get involved in all these conflicts for any philanthropic reasons. Trump is just overt about it.
As I've said all along, Ukraine have been strung along by the USA but now the US is not even pretending otherwise.

Overt and quintupling the amount given.

This could go in here or the Ukraine thread (there's definitely a lot of crossover at the moment), but as it's a direct response to Trump I guess it goes in here.

Zelensky hits back at Trump's lies and bullshit (there's a thread of tweets, not just the first one):

Well I am sure that will prove a game changer

Also none of the figures are accurate. But considering DOGE just mistook 8mn for 8bn this isn’t surprising. Math is not the rights strong point.

I guess ordering an online season ticket isn’t the lefts then

The country with one of the world’s largest militaries, which invades one of its European neighbours roughly once every six or seven years and is about to forge a favourable new trading partnership with the world’s largest economy has “zero capability” to invade anywhere else. You heard it here first!
It’s incredible how credulous people can be while claiming people are naive for not thinking the US might line its own pockets, as if that is some kind of heavyweight intellectual insight.

Yes Donald, Zelensky is the dictator and the real issue here, not your new pal Vlad.

I know I keep saying it, but he is either incredibly dumb, or a complete lunatic.

It's unbelievable the stuff he's coming out with, isn't it.

I have friends in the US (not Democrat supporters by a long chalk), who just say they are utterly embarrassed and think everyone else must now think of the US as a laughing stock, it's so utterly ridiculous.

Especially when you spend 3 years saying the US is only in it to make money, only to then immediately pivot to 'Trump is actually saving the US money by withdrawing'

Been bizarre. Can’t really complain if he wants to end US funding and end the war. To come out with all that shit was very strange though. Some of it was just rambling.

Is that not objectively the sequence of events?
Start with the Japanese invasion of Manchuria in 1931 as a consequence of the worldwide depression and proceed via US support of Chiang Kai-shek and US, UK, Dutch and Chinese sanctions on Japan to Hull's letter to Japan in 1941 (an ultimatum really requiring them to leave Manchuria). It's really about economic domination in the Pacific.

Probably getting revenge on Zelensky for not having done the dirty on Hunter Biden during his first term
