Saw a GB News piece decrying the state of ‘free speech’ in the UK. The last time I checked, people still have the freedom to criticise Keir Starmer and the government. In the US protesting against Israel, never mind Trump, is grounds for arrest or deportation.

If anyone wants to see what attacks on free speech in a former democracy really look like, perhaps they should look there.

The UK and America are quite different in many ways, but I don't think anyone in America is getting deported for just saying something. Surely if there is a protest and it is illegal, that is a crime? I think you are being a bit selective here in your normal morning Trump rants hoping to go unchallenged and followed with some likes. Another 4 years of this? I really think you need to give it a rest or you are going to make yourself ill.

The free speech situation in the UK is an issue. The Southport reaction being a good recent example. It is all going to become even worse with this as well:

I don't know how anyone can be an apologist for Trump, Musk and anyone that's involved, then call themselves a supporter of our football club. None of this sh*t is funny. Peoples' lives are being ruined.

Founded by factory workers in a city that was destroyed by fascists, grew thanks to different waves of immigration post-war and its biggest cultural export is all based on different races being allies.

but Yeah, let's have a LOL about a misogynistic felon and a South African that chucks up Nazi salutes, disowns his kid and wields chainsaws at public appearances. At least the lefties are rattled.

You caught me red handed. The first thing that crosses my mind when I get up is how to get likes on the SBT Trump thread.

What makes a protest illegal? Why is Trump filing lawsuits against the press and declaring media organisations to be illegal themselves? Free speech in the US is now a myth.

That is what you are doing though.

Every morning when I have my breakfast, I go onto SBT for a bit of light reading. Every morning the Trump thread has been bumped by you. It isn't healthy mate.

Free speech is an issue in many countries these days, and it is politically motivated much of the time. I don't understand why it is only on certain topics that trigger certain people. You either have free speech, or you don't.

Trump it seems now bans people from the country if they don’t like him
In the last couple of months I've been seeing a number of British acts be refused entry to the US despite having all the correct work permits and visas for their tour. In most cases they are people who have entered the USA for work purposes on a regular basis in the past, in some cases they have been doing so for decades.

The common denominator? They are all people who have made multiple posts against Trump on twitter.

You want to think it can't possibly be that and the President of the USA can't be that petty but it seems to be the only thing that links people who have previously had no issues.

Which would be hilarious if it wasn’t worrying. What a weird country we live in

We’re generally a country that doesn’t like bullies 🤷🏻‍♂️

The issue isn’t so much whether immigrants can be deported for committing crimes (although there are obviously legal rights that apply depending on the crime and immigrant status) as it is about the lack of due process afforded those who are accused.

As for “getting deported for just saying something”, let’s see how this story develops:

Don’t forget
Trump has 90% approval rating with republicans and 4% from democrats

The chap at Columbia who they’re trying to deport over Israel protests they freely admit has not committed a crime. He has done nothing illegal, just protested against a war criminal.

I would have a bit more time for some of you on this thread, including the very obvious alt accounts, if you applied the same attitude across the board.

Trump and Musk supporters are some of the biggest cucks on the planet.

I agree. Generally anyone that is in the hardcore of any political faction probably needs their head checking in all honesty, but some of these guys, especially the Musk ones are weird as fuck. Can't forgrt about the hardcore leftists either though. Some severe absence of testosterone there!

You will not find me arguing for anyone to be arrested for protesting in favour of right wing causes. Nor would you find me arguing for the likes of GB News or the Mail to be shut down because I disagree with their politics.

I find their coverage abhorrent but will always argue for their right to express it.

Let’s call it what it is - “if the government says a protest is illegal then it must be a crime” is absolute cuck mentality.
People were arrested in this country for protesting against the monarchy during Charles’ coronation events. Curiously the free speech champions at GB News went MIA for that.
