He played well. He made one really bad mistake and made up for it, by getting the tackle in and saving himself.

I think people are parroting each others because they agree.

He had a decent game.
I will admit, I made a huge groan when he lost the ball, but all of them were doing it. Don't get me wrong, if we lost Denmark would have deserved the win, but our players seemed to shit themselves when a Danish player got to within four feet of them, not an exceptional amount of pressure.

Guehi had as good a game as anyone in white, far from our main issue. One of the worst performances I've seen for a while, thought Serbia was bad enough!

Nah, I disagree.

Bellingham, Foden, Rice, Saka, etc etc are incredible players and unbelievably good technically.

And look at our youth teams winning loads of tournaments.

It's not a technique thing, they are just being managed appallingly.
Not sure, we have some good technical players but not sure it's at the same level as some other nations.

Bowen, Gallagher, Rice, Watkins who all played today are lacking technique imo compared to the top teams and nations and if you look on our bench there aren't many others known for their technical ability.

I don’t get what’s so offensive about this? He’s saying we don’t have a natural defensive mid in the squad like we did in the last few tournaments so he’s trying something else. Obviously it’s not working and he needs to change it but I don’t see what fundamentally wrong with saying that?

Why do we have to play 2 holding midfielders next to eachother ? We could drop jude next to rice

I'd just like to point out that England have played a whopping 4 matches with jude bellingham as a 10 , and won 1

England need to go back to a 433 , with rice bellingham and Wharton/mainoo , or Gallagher if it pleases Gareth so much and play jude as a fucking 8.

I think it's rueing the absence of a defensive player, when we have created 2 (?) chances and played awfully as an attacking team against meh opponents.

12 months ago he was an all action box to box midfielder, I know he had a great season at 10 for madrid but I'm not sure it's his best position

Just can’t get my head around the potential we have, on major international stage are second guessing who’s tracking and who’s pressing - like it’s down to one person. Ugh that was abysmal.

It's actually a bit depressing watching Spain move the ball quickly and taking the game to Italy.

Imagine how good we could be if we did the same with the attacking talent we have.

To be fair I wonder if it’s just expectation. The last time we had a fun tournament was when no one expected anything from us

Agreed. There's nothing wrong with what's he's said there, he's right. That's his preferred system & it's served us well in the past. The flip side, & the fans argument, is they don't want us to play that way.

The below interview was some months ago now & I think is pretty fair. Since then Wharton has really emerged though & I'd be giving him a go in that position.

We've flipped between 433 and 4231 many times in the last 2 years ,the fact he seems to suggest Phillips is the glue is mind bending , there is alot wrong with what he's said

Scotland 2021, USA 2022 and today. It's all rather predictable. The positive being it's in our hands to finish top of the group. The negative, I don't think with this current set up we have a way of turning up the performance level. As soon as we meet a half decent team we will be on our way home.
