We may not be 'dependent' on Ukraine, but I understand it does produce a large proportion of the world's grains and this will have quite an impact on food supply and cost, which will be felt here.

So even if we do take the 'I'm all right Jack approach', that might not be totally true.
True.
Also Russia produces a lot of fertilizer for export in a market already in short supply. That will have a big impact on world crop production.
We forward bought ours last year from Lithuania when prices were going crazy last year due to COVID and gas prices.

They are certainly producing a lot of fertilizer on their news channel reports

Not in accord at all. We are getting divorced and I am waiting to move out. She is so pro Putin it's untrue.

He is like her favourite uncle.
Sounds like a living nightmare mate.

Tell me about it. 😢

I don't mean to pry, and obviously you don't have to answer, but are you getting divorced because of this or was it happening anyway?

Either way I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Best wishes.

It's part of it for sure, but we were splitting anyway.

She has been her 20 years now and still only ever watches Russian news. If she has ever seen something come on the TV about Russia while I am watching, she walks out the room. 🤷

Not barbaric: killing children
Barbaric: throwing some paint on a sign

(Translation: A barbaric action in front of the Embassy of Russia. Police have launched a manhunt for the vandal who was on a motorcycle. )

An interesting alternative map of how the war is going.

The maps you see on the news with the big red zones showing areas that Russia occupy are not necessarily very accurate:

" The occupiers do not control territories – they temporarily control roads and some populated localities. "

They only really need to control the infrastructure. There's a huge "empty" land mass of agricultural land that doesn't need occupying. Weather conditions atm control the roads and you control the land

That's true but it shows that Ukrainian forces are not encircled and its easy for these convoys on the roads to be flanked and destroyed (as is regularly happening).

Indeed. I find it also extraordinary that Zelenskeys behaviour regarding his own people gets zero scrutiny. Men are smuggling themselves in cars and being refused exit from the country. This surely is a breach of human rights. How can a leader legitimately enforce conscription on people and make them fight.

Indeed it really is and if this was something Boris Johnson enforced if we were invaded by an enemy I think you’d be not very supportive - or would you?

Hmmm... Is there another country in this conflict that does exactly that...?

You mean how we did last time the UK mainland came under attack from another nation?

It's so sad. I like the Russian people, but absolutely detest the Russian regime.

And now it's making my blood boil, because I am in one room here, watching the BBC News and seeing bodies of dead children in the street and in the very next room is my wife watching Russian TV spouting absolute bollocks about how Russia are liberators and everything is fine.

🤬
Just seen that toddler on CNN, alone, crying as he crosses into Poland without his mum. Heartbreaking.
