Joined this late, too much to read. May have the wrong end of the gist. Was it this was too good a deal for the council to turn down?
If so
I suppose they either say no to a local economy boost, jobs, premiership rugby in the City. SISU carry their repeated mantra out and Move CCFC out of Coventry.
So you have the missed opportunity from wasps plus the negative impact on the City of CCFC leaving.
Or they take a chance on the Wasps deal to cushion the blow of CCFC leaving. They also hope that SISU won't see it through and they get the best of both worlds.
Not sure about the term 'too good to be true,' but a 'no brainer' is probably more Reflective. As crap as it is for the 30,000 'active' Cov fans
Sorry where do the figures come from before they have even played a game, or paid back the 20 odd million for the stadium?
I would hazard a guess that the second highest turnover in Europe is currently far from the truth. When they have consistent support like the Tigers or Saints, coupled with the other income streams and they have cleared the debts then yes they may have a very good turnover, but then it wont make a huge amount of difference on the player front as they still have to stick to the stringent RFU salary cap.

Correct, many times told by Ginetta I was a Leicester fan for not supporting Sisu.
So what made you change your mind?
Nothing ever has, no rewriting of history from me.
"By negotiating a deal with Coventry city council for their 50% share of the Ricoh Arena, Wasps acquired the second biggest turnover of any rugby club in Europe, behind French giants Toulouse."

There has been some discussion of the RFU salary cap rules implying the move to the Ricoh would improve things for Wasps. This link gives the details
http://www.premiershiprugby.com/premiership/structure/salary_cap.php
The overall player salary cap 2014/15 seems set at 4.76m for the squad plus certain credits etc. The potential for the Wasps move to the Ricoh, if it works, is that Wasps can spend the full amount without the need to borrow, increase interest payments, make losses etc. How many other teams can do that?
I would suggest at least Bath, Saints, Tigers and Saracens, the latter three who seem to have been running things well for a number of years, and now Bath seem to have come to the top table. Harlequins may also be up there.
Wasps may get there eventually but all the claims about how rich they are at present will take a few years to be seen on the pitch.
Sorry quoting a two sentence statement within a BBC article does not mean it is true.
There are many permutations to this, and yes it could well be the case if they market and use the facility appropriately, but like I said attendances may well be key, as will another sitting tenant, and how they have structured paying their fees.
It could work well for them, personally I hope it doesn't.
Is it too much to ask SISU to piss off, Wasps to fail and a new owner of CCFC to come in just as the Council have to grovelling look for a new anchor tenant?
