Pretty much all of Man Utd's biggest signings have been duds.

Antony is by far the worst though. Mount for £60m is another.

And people on here lose their shit when the likes of Hilssner and Dacosta flop 😅
That and Arsenal did spend £50m on a defender from Bologna this summer. Clearly if they wanted Vik enough they’d have got him.

Sesko was their main target and his release clause was set at £55m prior to him signing a new deal. Doesn't really make much sense for Arsenal to then splurge potentially an extra £25m on a striker who's quite a bit older and playing in a much poorer league.

They wanted to do a deal that wasn't there to be done so they might as well get nobody? 🤷‍♂️

No it doesn’t. We’ve been in for loads of players.
Getting deals in place and concluding them are different things. Often clubs say a player needs to go out before they can complete an incoming transfer as they need the funds.

To borrow a couple of phrases, they 'get their ducks in a row' ready to 'pull the trigger' when the opportunity arises, but first they need the bullets.

I mean it was there to be done, but Sesko signed a new deal which they didn't expect. Most media reports go as far to say it came as a shock to the club.

The alternatives (Osimhen and Gyokeres), while I'm sure they made enquiries, were never plausible due to the fees demanded so they didn't bother pursuing.

Viktor G “It (his £85m release clause) was probably a bit too much because nothing came of it. Of course it’s a lot of money. But we’ll see what happens next window. Nothing happened and it feels like I had a pretty good season. So yes, that’s probably why there was simply no move.”

I recall him making statements that were pretty clear about the Premiership in his last year with us, so not massively surprised if that quote is accurate - he's always shown himself to be incredibly ambitious and Sporting know they really are a stepping stone for the elite talents... remains to be seen who will pay the $$$ to take him into that elite.

It'll largely hinge on how he performs in the CL this year. He's already ripping it up domestically and on the international stage but that's really what will probably set the wheels in motion for clubs to actually start taking a credible interest with a view to submitting enquiries/bids.

Fabrizio reporting on his movements every other day... Sounds like his agent has slipped him a few quid...

Sporting President says Vik is happy there. It doesn't sound that way if his comments in post 359 above were accurately reported.
It seems he is stuck on a long contract with what he thinks is an unrealistic release clause.
Didn't he moan about our valuation of £20M before he moved?

Well he signed the contract with us and with Sporting, so what is he moaning about? In reality he probably isn't moaning at all.

I don't recall him moaning about it. He was asked about it I think and basically gave his opinion which is fair enough I guess.

I think if he performs well in the 2 CL games against English clubs he will be on for a big money move in Jan

That is why I finished with "in reality he probably isn't moaning at all?" 😂 😆 😂

Why do people react before they have read the whole statement 😂 😂 😂

That Vik return after he's had his big contract playing for one of Europe's elite on a free aged 34 to help us out for a season in the prem, notching 17 goals, before a move out to Saudi is gonna be magical
