He's improved from being really dogshit but..,....how many clean sheets this season ?!
Just the 2 in the league.

The rest isn't aimed at you at all.

We've failed to score in 7 of 21 games in the league this season. (33%)

We've scored just 1 in our last 4 league games.

We're the lowest scorers in the top half of the table.

5 of the 11 above us have either conceded the same or more than us, in fact only 7 teams have conceded less than us in the whole league this season so Our defence clearly isn't a big issue.

To me that suggests the defence and keeper aren't particularly to blame and its our attacking play and forward line that is the majory issue.

Using Luton as an example as they were in league two with us last season and We're playing them next week, they have scored nearly double the amount of goals we have 41 compared to 22 and failed to score in just 3 of their 21 games (14%).

Looking at the two chances they were hardly sitters.

Everyone is focussing on the fact that we miss chances - which we do - but given we supposedly have the best keeper in the league, a great centre half pairing and a future England right back we have only kept 4 clean sheets all season

That doesn’t compute
Thank God for some reason. 4 clean sheets all season, yup, so something ain't right at the back is it....... although the way we sit back draws pressure and under pressure players at this level crumble.

We haven't got a good enough back 4 or forward line to go gung ho. Other teams are going to push on second half particularly where we're in front, why do people think the game is only about what we do?

I’ve never made any of those claims. I did say we had one of the best defences when it was true and we’d conceded the 5th or 6th least amount of goals. This has changed somewhat.

This team is naive, which is forgivable since it’s the 3rd youngest team in the league. They’ll make mistakes and I’m happy with a top half finish. We need a platform to build on and our core needs to develop, add in a few experienced players, it takes us to the next level.

I can remember far more instances of us missing gilt edge chances than defensive errors. We’ve missed several good chances in the Sunderland, Portsmouth, Fleetwood, Stanley, P’boro games. We’re also one of the lowest scorers in the league, put 2 and 2 together and you see where our problems really lie.

Still. Look on the bright side. I had a nice win on SBT Bookies! I had Warsaw to win. :emoji_money_mouth:

But if he was a Christmas present you'd certainly be keeping the receipt and looking for an exchange as soon as the shops were back open wouldn't you!
Or re-wrap him and pass him on to a loathed relative.

Probably mentioned elsewhere, but nice to see Max Biamou sat amongst the City fans.

What on earth does MR say at half time, many times we seem to change for the worse in the second half!
"More of the same lads, do that and we'll win".

I said it was horrendous from Burge as well.
But up until today he's been one of our best players.
And it was an horrendous miss. Not his first.
I have praised burge too. Doesn't mean you ignore bullshit like today

Btw that miss wasn't horrendous at all. You must be new to this sport

Was to the right hand side of the goal, had a good view of it, he should have scored.
If you think that's not a bad miss then I can't argue because it's a matter of opinion.
To me it cost us big time.

We were 6th in division 2 last year went up via play offs and have hung around the top 8 most the season that ain’t that bad, I think we all agree had we taken half of our gilt edge missed chances we’d be in the play off spots, nearly all our players were div 2 players not played division 1 standard before on a bit of a wobble but if we can get to December about where we are now I’ll accept that. Today’s loss was a bit freaky in my opinion but I do think MR needs to look at our set up and why half time is becoming is our biggest enemy.

Walsall fan here. You were the better side. But you stopped playing in the second half. First half you were playing some nice fluent football and with a better final ball could have been leading by more. Second half you seemed more interested in attempting to fiddle the game away and try to hit us on the break. Which nearly worked to be fair but it was a dangerous game.

On the pen at the death. The latest poor referee in this league (and there are some right clowns aren’t there?) was actually in the process of putting his whistle to his mouth for a foul to us on the edge of the box but in that split second thought he’d show his Premier League quality by giving a pen for the second, very innocuous challenge. He even did a retrospective “playing advantage” signal just in case anyone missed how clever he was.

On balance we might have just deserved a draw. But to win was robbery. We’ll obviously take it. We needed it.

Naive most even the word.

Stupid I'd you think a narrow miss is same as that collosoal fuck up by burge

I agree It was a collossus fuck up by Burge.
If you'd read the thread instead of acting the dick you'd see that.
But over the season so far Burge has been a consistent performer. If you think different carry on. I'm bored of your nonsense now so I'll let you have the last word to satisfy your infantile mentality.

Think I'm more upset with that than games we've played far worse in and lost my more.

I liked the changes to the starting XI on the whole and seemed like we came out first half really well. A few hairy moments but in control. Second half once again we dropped off. Is it just performance/fitness levels or tactical instruction from MR? Whatever the reason it happens in virtually every game. I'm almost becoming tempted to not pay attention after HT because I just know it's going to be nervy and them dominating the game. Infuriating.

There's no doubt Burge made a monumental fuck-up today and has to take a large amount of the blame along with Ogogo, but we've lost far more points this season from not taking chances, and we had a few today for the game to have been put to bed long before that happened. Only strikers think being a striker is the hardest job. Play like a twat, miss tonnes of chances, miskick a winner into the corner of the net in injury time and you're a fucking hero. Keepers/defenders - make save after save and let one slip through your fingers and you're absolutely useless.

Biggest fear is that that could massively affect the team mentally and with a lot of games coming up in a short period of time we could've played and lost another 4-5 games before it gets out of the system and by then a rot sets in.

Liked Kelly in the centre and Baka seemed OK up front. I'm actually thinking him and Hiwula up front next game, as long as we don't hoof it up to them but put it on the deck.

Can’t believe some people. Yes burge made a clanger but so this week have de Gea and Pickford....even the best goalkeepers do occasionally. Burge has been very safe so far this season and has improved greatly from previously. As for our strikers I also believe that strikers miss and sometimes have poor games. But this season our strikers collectively have gone game after after game not taking very presentable chances. So far this season it is the strikers rather than the keeper that have thrown away more points.

Just seen the Thomas(?) chance towards the end, why oh why did he hit it first time at the keeper who was committed!?
A bit of composure he could have taken his time and rolled it into an empty net!

What can be done to address the lack of goals? JCH has been back with us nearly a year and in that time he's got 6 in the league. Chaplin hasn't flourished so far. With everything else going on, is there budget in January for Robins to buy a new striker?

Lee Burge - I have never been the biggest fan but he's top of the "player of the season" rankings for the London Supporters Group, he may have got some of these votes slightly by default but overall you can't blame him for the fact we're not in the auto places, as some on here seem to think we ought to be able to expect.

Although the end of the game was disappointing we must remember that we'll go through tough spells. Just as MR wasn't useless after the Colchester game, wasn't the messiah after Notts C away, wasn't useless after the league cup defeat to Oxford, wasn't the messiah after the 5-in-arow, so he isn't useless now. Yes it is frustrating but as Kipling said, let's try to treat success and failure as equal strangers. We're on a windy road with the graph pointed upwards overall. Let's not be too downhearted.

Watched this on ifollow. We thoroughly outplayed them in the first half and deserved the lead. We'd silenced their fans and looked basically in control, even though Cook had a chance and they were far from the worse opposition I've seen this season. That accolade goes to Blackpool or Bradford, I think. Missed the Plymouth game. Thomas is unbelievable when he gets some steam up and Bakayoko was all right. Thought Shipley made the most of it as well.

Anyway, as usual, the decision had evidently been made at half time to stop playing and the second half belonged, on balance, to Walsall. Unlike Fleetwood though they didn't rattle in two in quick succession to kill the game, and unlike against Fleetwood we looked threatening on the break. Thomas' miss was the worse of the two. What was he thinking? JCH did everything right but score, as they say.

1-1 might have been thought a fair(ish) result, but no way did Walsall deserve the win. It didn't look like a penalty to me (maybe that evens out the cast-iron one Wimbledon weren't given against us) but Clive Eakin seemed to have no qualms about the decision. Very soft-looking indeed. What was clear is that for the last ten(?) minutes we were no longer able to even keep possession and the JCH miss had revitalised Walsall. Something like that was always likely to happen, though I can't help but feel Ogogo was not a good idea. He hasn't shown anything this season except approximative positioning and sloppy passing.

Embarassed myself with toxic swearing in front of the family upon seeing their fans celebrating at the end.

Luke Thomas is lorded as a future top star and he’s played really well here most games BUT so many times now he has goofed at the final moment reminds me of Ryan Kent who we had here a few years back just like Thomas great skill, pace, got into great positions but final ball hopeless, he’s got to improve on that, remember he’s a division lower than his parent club.

Was at the game. Having watched the highlights back, Luke Thomas needed to drag the ball inside and it was a goal. Didn't show the JCH chance - wanted to see that again as couldn't see how close it was - convinced it was in when it went past the keeper. There was a ball that Shippers should have played Baka in for, but hit an awful pass. Didn't deserve to lose. Referee (and lino) was awful. Didn't think it was a penalty, but Ogogo didn't help himself with his 'challenge'. Considering everybody thought we sat back, we created a lot of good chances in the second half that we should have killed them off.

Hopefully that will help us keep him for the rest of the season - he will be hard to replace.

Was that the one where Baka controlled it, laid it off and then ran through on goal with no defender anywhere near him but Shipley hammered it across the field? I was raging.

There’s a special place for people who bet against their own team, doesn’t matter if it’s virtual currency.
Not where money - virtual or not - is involved! Winner, winner chicken dinner! :emoji_money_mouth::emoji_money_mouth::emoji_money_mouth::emoji_money_mouth::emoji_money_mouth::emoji_money_mouth::emoji_money_mouth:
