I know what you mean about all the Wasps stuff. They shouldn't be there. Interesting to see how loyal their "fan base" will be if they continue losing. Wouldn't it be great if they got relegated and Cov (rugby) got promoted? I wonder how some of the Coventry Wasps "fans" would feel about supporting "their" team against Coventry's historic and proper rugby team?Agree with all that, had similar thoughts at the time. The game changer for me was when the rug was pulled from under our feet. Not the move to Sixfields but the arrival of W*sps to a stadium that was built for us. And every time I go, it's the constant reminders that we are the second rate tenants. The first thing I see when rounding the corner from Rowleys Green Lane is the W*sps club shop, formerly the CCFC club shop and the hackles start to rise.
So whatever love I had for the Ricoh has long since gone I'm afraid - and it's nothing to do with low crowds or the lack of any atmosphere.

If there was 30,000 in it regular, then trust me the facilities around the stadium would all improve too.For me it's an identikit bowl and there is nothing going on around it to enhance the day out. That won't change whether there's 3,000 or 30,000 in it.
Having said that, I'd be over the moon to read tomorrow that we'd signed a long term deal to play there.

Yeah agree.I'm not really bothered about the peripheral stuff, it's more what's on offer once I've gone through the turnstiles Otis. Many of the bars and food outlets with the shutters down, overpriced rubbish at the ones that are open and the feeling that the whole concourse area, toilet facilities etc could do with a lick of paint.

I never have bought anything at the ground. Never bought a drink, or food and have never been in the casino. For me it is all about the football. I go up, watch the game and go back home.
All I look for in a football stadium is a good atmosphere and a good view. The views at the Ricoh are excellent and I'm convinced that if we had success the atmosphere would be great too.
Takes me 45-50 mins to walk it to the ground, but that doesn't bother me in the slightest. I just want to go and watch the City play.
Used to park in Tesco, but they clamped down, so now I walk. Doesn't change anything for me.

I apologize profusely for only wanting to go and watch a football match and then go home to my wonderful 13 year old daughter to spend happy times together.

Spot on Old Sky Blue. I can remember games at Highfield Road with 14,000 in the crowd and a very flat atmosphere. However, the good days of seeing us make the "great escapes" like beating Man Utd at home 2-0 with Curtis & Blockley dominating their forward line was magical!really do not understand the ambition to be at the BPA in its current state or with temporary stands. If it were a nice new 12000 capacity stadium with all the infra structure in place then fair enough to a degree, but it isn't and it is a long way from that. It certainly has no great history attached to it. I very much doubt that anything will be available next season at BPA that is even close to suitable or what we expect, especially if we get promoted.
You could put up temporary stands perhaps but what about the facilities to support them ? Let alone the issues surrounding access and exit for pedestrians and traffic
It still wouldn't be ours, which still means paying a rent. We would still be the junior partner with CRFC branding taking precedence on their ground
I can remember many games at HR where the atmosphere was poor, it generally got better when the bigger teams turned up
The biggest downside of the Ricoh is the atmosphere at CCFC matches. Is that the stadium or the people in it? Primarily people make the atmosphere and that's far easier with a successful team. Have been there at the Olympic events and the place rocked with atmosphere. CCFC has never had success there other than last season - was the atmosphere at the semi final that bad? was the ground full? The place is what you make of it...... sadly in and behind the scenes we make very little of it, never have. The CCFC owners have quite deliberately encouraged a detachment from it helped by failure where it really counts - on the pitch
Will we be at the BPA next season ? I wouldn't have thought so. If we are I certainly do not see it as a step forward or for the better.

In fairness to the Ricoh, when the crowd is over 12-13k as long as they're together the atmosphere is decent. The JPT games against Preston in 2013 and Wycombe last year showed that.
The acoustics are far better than Highfield Rd's as the relatively high roof helps noise reverberate.
