Haven't the FA already set a precedent on this not happening with Hull? Yes I know you could point to MK Dons as a precedent for allowing this to happen but I recall them (rightly or wrongly, I'm going by memory) regretting this and vowing not to allow the situation to happen again. Hence the decisions surrounding Hull.

Fair point. The Austrian FA had similar issues apparently.

Why not just support a new team then? If CCFC loses it's identity, it's not CCFC. What if they change everything and they're not successful?
What if this ? What if that ? You're worrying about what ifs! I'm more worried about what actually Is happening
to my club right now, look at other clubs they have put their money behind.
Would love to go to a packed Ricoh (Red Bull Arena) with my family to watch us compete against The best
teams around, maybe have a hot pie at HT ;)
It seems some would rather watch CCFC in a piss pot stadium, at non league level with a few others, I can't
Think of anything worse, Red Bull would invest to get the club back where it belongs.
Personally I don't think this will happen, but I'm at a loss to explain why some people would oppose if it did.

Because it wouldn't be CCFC? As I and others have mentioned? Sell your history, identity and tradition for success? No thanks. I'll leave you all to it if it happens. I don't agree with Wasps as everyone knows. I'm also not a hypocrite, which means I wouldn't agree with a franchised CCFC.

Has anybody checked wasps forum for a similar story?

No bother to me. But I'm sure they are up in arms about name and jersey colour changes also

There probably more bothered about the cash the club is making. Most of the fans are new or don't give a fuck about heritage.

But you support a greedy no moral hedge fund owning us?

Why would be franchised anyway?

But we would be Coventry City FC playing in Coventry, our history would be unaffected, in fact the Biggest
difference would probably be success, maybe that's what some are scared of.
They would buy us and become our owners, they would then invest money having already put people in place
Who know how to invest the money to gain success.
Surely everyone who supports a club, wants that club to strive to be the very best it can be, otherwise what is
The point, if RB can provide the finance and the vision to make this happen, why would anyone not want that.

Just to reiterate, guys, Red Bull will NOT conduct a takeover of the club, they did NOT conduct a takeover of Leipzig; they founded the club, from scratch.

So if a Red Bull club is coming to Coventry, it's not CCFC-related in any way...

Nobody is scared of success.

You are missing the point still.

If RB come in and buy the club and we stay as CCFC and they chuck millions in without wanting it back then fair play!

If you had a daughter and she married and changed her name she would still be your daughter. Doesn't the same logic apply here? or am I being stupid?
Depends if the daughter immediately disowned you and pretended you didn't exist, which seems to be the fear were this to come to fruition. 'RB Coventry Established 2017' would make it a lot harder to get on with personally, but the club as it is with a lick of silver paint, I could be convinced.

So because I wouldn't agree with RB owning us and changing everything for their marketing purposes, I must support SISU?

How about I don't agree with SISU using the club for financial gain therefore wouldn't agree with RB doing the same?

Others do though, clearly. As I have stated before people just want money thrown at it. Bollocks to anything else. If SISU were splashing the cash you wouldn't hear a word.

Still be CCFC? Like the other teams they own still have their names? As I said earlier, if RB are looking at CCFC it's because they know they can make wholesale changes and the fans won't mutter a word.
Striving for success? By becoming a marketing vehicle for an energy drink? Selling your soul so you can splash stupid money about?
I want success, just not at any cost.

Why not? One of the West Ham owners said they turned down a bid of around £650m, which was a takeover bid.

Show me a club owner that doesn't at least aspire to gain financially.

What I don't get is. Sisu are bad cos they just want to make money. It's ok if red bull did that though. And other clubs do the same too. Which is it? Is it bad or not? Or does it depend on who is making the money?

You seem very principled but not really living in the here and now. Whoever owns us will be for them not for us. Of course any owner would want to make money. Even sisu need to make money from us but how they have gone about it is truely embarrassing and as a result we are going to league 2.

Sorry but we need new owners who want their share but will at least give us fans some decent players and football to watch on a Saturday afternoon.

they did an MK Dons, took over an existing club and turned it into RB Leipzig. The point stands that the club must be a money pit, especially as they are going to build a new stadium.
Which suggests that they wouldn't be put off by Citys current situation. Off course, I am still sceptical that there is actually interest.

With all due respect I think your're wrong on all that.
They bought out a fifth division club and took it from there. The same as Salzburg, New York etc.

As I've said before, Nuneaton Town used to be called Nuneaton Borough. You talk to many Nuneaton fans and they still call them the Boro.

We would still be Coventry City. It's up to us what we know ourselves as. Unless of course someone is intending to use mind control to bend our will.

Wrong again. Any owner of us will want money back it's not a debate. Sisu or RB. Either can make money but sisu aren't doing the right things. They haven't got a clue. RB might have the same motivations but actually do the right things and give us a chance of being a decent team and some decent football.

If that's ok with you?

I wouldn't mind being a marketing vehicle for an energy drink company, just like Arsenal fans
Don't seem to mind being a marketing vehicle for an airline company, or MCFC for a.............
Whether you like it or not football has moved on, if you want success there will probably be a
Price to pay, to witness some good times at City after 40 years of (almost) complete abject
Failure, I for one think it's a price worth paying.
I do respect your view though.

The Leipzig club are considered brand new as Red Bull bought the licence to play from a local club in order to avoid starting from the bottom, but they took over New York and Salzburg who retained the pre-sugar history so they don't have a blanket policy of starting from scratch.

I'm going off the assumption that Leipzig was bought, it wasn't. Please feel free to check yourself, as I'm not getting into a ridiculous debate about it.

Either way, whatever happens with Red Bull will be a blessing, if it transpires; takeover or not, it'll be good for Coventry in general.

Are you serious, if SISU were making money out of CCFC through high attendances and sponsorship
TV money etc, that would mean we were enjoying relative success, in which case I don't think anyone
Would begrudge them.
