I think it does need clearing up sooner rather than later, although I think the pressure from Higgs and this is part of something bigger. Wasps won't have bought land right next to it for no reason, the same as they wouldn't have only bought 50% of the Ricoh.

This is PR to apply pressure.

You forgot to mention though Simon about the Higgs taking the club to court but their claim being turned down in the history between the two.

As was the joke claim from SISU for 250000. should also be mentioned

interesting that people have only commented on that article, none of the others like James Maddison being stronger than ever.

Also "city fans" vote this comment down?

The idea that Sisu as owners would always ensure we play in a top stadium is strange. Was Sixfields a top stadium? Would they not do something like this again if they felt it was in their best interests?
It seems to me that this argument about the Higgs Centre is like the one about the Ricoh mark two. Sisu posture, insist they will move to new purpose built venue, do nothing about it and finally have the rug pulled from under them.
I don't understand the anti Trust sentiments. Having been to some of the open meetings and met some of these guys on the hill I can only see them as wanting the best for our club. Yes I know some of them go to Wasps. I hope Wasps fail. They are a franchise. Being Anti the antics of Sisu doesn't make you pro-Wasps.

Is it CCFC making these statements about the Higgs Centre to the telegraph then? It looks more like somebody is trying to start an argument aren't they.

You must have a lot of faith in the owner to be happy to risk letting it go and rely on SISU to find or build a replacement facility for the academy.

I never said that, was just asking who it is starting the arguments about it? It is somebody trying to apply pressure for some reason isn't it? Is it part of negotiations of some sort?

The last thing I want is for CCFC to not have an academy. Which is why you won't catch me worshipping Joe Elliott or Hoffman.

However you'd rather bury your head in the sand and blame a media outlet you claim, without substantive proof, has an anti CCFC/SISU & pro Wasps/CCC agenda than allow critical questioning about strategy for the club?

Have the club come out recently and announced we are moving away from the Higgs though? It started with news about the Wasps looking for somewhere (but only mentioning the Higgs), then followed up by a Statement from the trust that isn't on their website / twitter etc or mention of it from anybody else.

Aside from the crap about the new stadium with the academy on site etc etc, has it been announced we are leaving any time soon? I don't personally think we would as I don't think there is a new stadium.

Multiple different people have mentioned a sale of land to Wasps right next to the Higgs, why has this not been reported or investigated or anything? If they have bought land next to it, it is for a reason.

My point is, who is starting off this questioning? The club haven't made any recent announcements / comments about it have they? It is all well and good questioning it, but there must be something going on behind the scenes to trigger it.

My theory (I am not saying it is fact) is that it is do with the Ricoh Rent discussions and it is trying to apply pressure in some way on the club. Get everybody panicking so the pressure is on to signup to something.

Out of interest I know the academy has been on a one year rolling contract since we returned to the Higgs was this the case before we left or did we previously have a long term commitment to the Higgs?

What's the crack with Ellliot and hoffman regarding the academy?

Strikes me that this is another non-story apparently written for the CT by Mr Gilbert, again seemingly trying to use coincidence and hearsay to undermine the recent stability at our football club, coming hot on the heels of some of the evidence that was presented at the "Ethics" Committee hearing the other day.

I have no clue what his motivation is for this, but surely a connection to CCC can't be regarded as beyond the realms of possibility.

As far as the SBT goes, I'm not a fan, but why do they not make statements to the other local media outlets, such as BBC C&W and the Observer? They choose to use the CT as their channel as they know they will listen to their anti-SISU stance, much as Al Qaeda did with Al Jazeera.

The land is for their training facility. Seems to have turned into a forum about Wasps again. Any idea what our owners have planned for our future beyond making petty complaints the the council has been nasty to them.

If there is land next to the higgs for sale, I assume its not big enough to house a stadium ?

Actually if you measure the whole area of disused farmland between the river & the Higgs land there may well be 60 acres.

Now who actually owns it, is it Severn Trent Water?

I remember playing on that land 45 to 50 years ago, it was full of wheat then with a disused Famhouse in there somewhere.

More recently I've walked a pathway through and it is pretty much untended and overgrown, it is probably a habitat for a species of extremely rare Toads. ;)

Simon needs to get on the case.

Apparently Wasps now own it! Bought from ST, how true I don't know but surely records or ways to find out?

People have said it on here for a few weeks now about them, and offline as well I have heard it. again, could just be a pressure rumour put out there ;)

I don't think CCFC could deal with Toads, TF is a badger expert isn't he?

Erm, hasn't this article come about because of Wasps saying they are buying somewhere?

So still nothing showing on the Trusts official website, twitter or facebook.....

...Anyone from the Trust on here care to comment on the timing of this "story".....

Did the trust prompt it?
Did the trust even have any knowledge of it going to press?

Any sign of Simon Gilbert? Maybe he could enlighten us as to the purpose & timing of this "story".....

"....SSSSssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......its all gone quiet over there.."

I don't think they could put something to print in somebody elses name without them knowing could they?

Don't know Nick.....maybe its an old story that accidentally got re-printed?? Who knows?

If only a senior trust member or even the journalist who wrote the piece were active members of this forum.....

...hang on...

If Tim Fisher was looking for land in Coventry, how come he never found that plot?

I must conclude he was never looking for land IN Coventry only outside the City boundaries.

Do you think so too?

PS Badgers are for gassing aren’t they, stop the nasty Bovine TB. * According to Ministry of Agriculture policy that is.

I think the new stadium has been a bit of a farce from the start, who knows where or how they have been looking.

I don't think it would be suitable for a stadium there would it?

Bit of a slope but no more than Ricoh. Possibly and soggy near the river, but otherwise can't see any issues, apart from the Toads.

Decent(ish) roads in and out too. London Road in both directions to A46 and A45 going north, going the other way to get on the A45 south. Allard way and Humber Road (I think). Easier than the Butts for sure. It probably would also be classed as infill and it's practically a green field sight at the same time which would help keep development costs down and ease planning application. Can't understand why it's never been suggested before.

Only downfall is not really walking distance from the train station for some although I have done it in the past cutting through Cheylsemore (however that's spelt).

You forgot close to end of A46/Warwick bypass and London Road from Toll Bar End to the site is not a good road at all, but mercifully not terribly far.

To clarify, Simon asked for a comment on the story so we issued a response.

A recent series of tweets from Les Reid:
1/4 For clarity, #CCFC Butts stadium plan IDed for months. Clubs did NOT want secret out but new MD let slip saying "in Cov" &"FL inspected"
2/4 Does any1 think @football_league would inspect greenfield in Warks, new MD lied, or not intelligent enough to know "local geography"?
3/4 That was decoy conveniently lapped up by other media which misled public. Seems to me Wasps want to tie #ccfc to 10-year Ricoh deal &..
4/4 Usual suspects Cov Tel, SBTrust etc scaremongering by overstating prospect of Wasps & new pool displacing #ccfc academy at Higgs centre
@GazOlden Agree difficulties with #ccfc Butts plan & it may never happen. But it's the genuine IDed plan that new MD let slip.Decoy followed

From what I can gather, the only reason the Butts site story came out was due to to the press code which states that journalists should prevent the public being misled if they know facts that can stop that. The CT story rubbishing the CO story started that ball rolling.

It definitely wasn't printed with the blessing of anyone at the club or SISU. In fact they were more than a bit pissed off that it came out.

Strange - actually no, it's not - that Simon or the CT haven't mentioned or commented on the documents which stated they suppressed stories on behalf of CCC. LR was right all along.
