. Football is different to rugby, football fans pledge alleigance to a club and tend to stick to that club, rugby fans their alleigance tends to be with the sport in general. .

Sorry but that is utter bollocks. All the Rugby fans I know have a team. It is those without that have ended up watching Wasps.

All the Saints and Tigers fans I know think its a joke that Wasps consider themselves a local rival. It will take them a long long time for them to get even near to the that rivalry.

I am a long standing Saints fan and the other 15k that go regularly along with the 20K at Leicester seem to know where their allegances lie, and its with their clubs.

I don't think WASPS could have continued to compete as a top premiership club had they stayed at Adams Park yes they would have survived as a club, but they couldn't afford a move to London or get as good a deal as at the Ricoh so maybe that's more spin but their fans have bought it.
But thats just bad luck and geography isn't it? Surely Celtic and Rangers would be much more successful and a hell of a lot richer if they were in the Premiership, but hey they're in Scotland.

And they DID have the option to stay in London. They turned it down.

Why should clubs just move away to "compete as a top premiership club" ? Would you be happy if we moved to Cornwall if it meant guaranteed premiership success?

I read it and will continue to get it delivered as we have done so for 40 years.
Might be a minority reading this paper but its more than just sport.

my parents gave had it delivered for at least 30 years but even they have stopped getting it as they felt there was nothing in it and it had got pricey. The one thing I do miss is the pink which as a boy was brilliant to get I used to wait at the newsagents for it to be delivered.

Nobody seems to want to answer this, I am pretty sure it is because they would be against it.

Just wait for the "rugby is different to football"...

How would moving to Cornwall mean guaranteed premier league success?

Just plucking a location out of the air in retort to the tired "they had to move to survive " nonsense.

It was an "if".

Wasting your time, people know full well everybody would be against it. It is just substituting Wasps for CCFC again and the whole opinion on right or wrong changes.

Going back to the CET advert and the fact it is a great example of marketing I have to say this is really not true.

Even OSB suggested this.

The truth is local news media advertising as a medium is pretty much dead. It's expensive - typically around £800 - £1,200 and has a very limited audience.

Pretty much all forms of advertising now is digital. I don't know if they do their own marketing or use an agency but I can assure you if it's an agency they would never advise that they use a local newspaper. That's why they are dying. Wasps (like CCFC) actually do a lot of digital marketing if one form or another. I would actually say from my experience the de duping at CCFC is far more effective than wasps. I receive the same promotion from wasps through 3 separate sources - that's not good marketing. CCFC should know I have a season ticket so they should de dupe in respect of match day offers. However, I would say they are better in that regard.

We don't know the terms of the advert on the page. Sometimes the CET would contact clients with special offers to fill pages at short notice. This though is pre planned.

So I fail to see why a company that's so good at marketing would use an outlet that anyone with an ounce of experience in marketing would say steer clear. Unless of course it's to use a space that's normally associated with a rival. Than as a distraction from that rival it's an effective strategy.

I would recommend this strategy if they wanted to target the rival as opposed to gaining an audience.

That has to be a factor as to why they did it.

Another thought. The flags are a clear attempt at community association. Can anyone put flags up at that island or is that something requiring permission? If so who from? Is there a payment involved?

The billboard on the opposite side of the island is interesting. Again these are fairly expensive and normally considered no go unless there is a lot of passing traffic. Who owns that land and who are wasps paying?

Looks to me like a lot of these conspiracies are very justified.

Just my thoughts.

They have had the billboard since they moved I think haven't they?

Wound the roundabout not be owned by the council as part of the A444? I know it is council people who would maintain them.

If there's no cost, maybe we should go and just put some up :)

WASPS moved to Cov, as part of a survival strategy for their club, SISU moved us to Northampton to try to distress ACL & CCC, it was for personal/ spiteful reasons and SISU business interests not for the long-term strategic benefit of CCFC. The majority of the WASPS fans supported the move, the majority of Cov fans opposed the move.

Most of the general public will believe that WASPS have the moral high ground.

Alternatively they both moved clubs to try and get a better financial position for themselves.

Wasps could have gone to countless places in their home territory, the options were there.

They *chose* not to.

BUT they told the local media they had no choice, then span it all for them ;)

That's not the point but I suspect you know that.

Wasps have been praised on here for making a great business decision and for showing ambition by buying the Ricoh in this thread and its been suggested we should do something similar. Personally I don't think that is a stance that should be supported and sets a dangerous precedent in British Sport moving forward.

Rightly so against it as well, its just sad that when its Wasps its described as great business and showing ambition.

Hah, yes I remember all those threads from the angry people who, these days, are being surprisingly receptive to Wasps.

That's not what people are saying.
But get as usual you try and twist it.

What people are saying is that why don't City advertise?
If they have issued with the telegraph there's alway that free rag paper they could get that a bit cheaper.
Let Wasps advertise all they want it is only a waste of money I don't know one person who has gone due to reading the Telegraph.

CCFC do a massive amount of digital advertising - as indeed do wasps.

Sorry OSB, but it seems finger pointing comes from both sides in this sorry mess, pro council, anti council, pro wasps anti Wasps et al and so forth.

Sadly the complete mess of our club leaves a bitterness with people and this leads to a rehash of the past time and again, and yes I agree it gets us nowhere. People look at Wasps and wish it was us, will that ever diminish?

You have asked the question several times about where do we go? and how do we progress? and I guess by the fact that you havent addressed this issue, that you like the rest of us dont have the answers or if you do cant effect the outcome anyway as its all in the clubs owners hands.

i dont disagree with that Moff. I didnt mean finger pointing from any one side.

Got some time off shortly so will maybe try to get some ideas together. But it isnt straight forward no. By nature never been one to roll over and accept things blaming everyone else so that probably comes out in some my questions. Surely I can not be the only one who might have some positive ideas though?

And what fantastic thoughts they are. Unbelievable you are obsessed with WASPS and need to look a bit closer at the clowns running CCFC, the fact this conspiracy nonsense posting has gone unchallenged by the pro SISU anti WaSPs anti Higgs anti CCC and now anti CET cronies on this site is no surprise.

.

Actually no i didnt i said that the timing of them ramping up their PR from a position of strength was good marketing .............. this advert is but a part of that increase. I suspect there will be other things to come

The CT reaches a lot of the local population still however

Whereas it gets challenged with posts like that?

It is strange though, as usually the argument is "it was good business" or "rugby is different to football". It is also mostly people who hate sisu / went mad about Sixfields that seem to be trying to justify Wasps?

Pretty sure it is because they seem Wasps as the opposite of SISU, the way they did CCC, ACL and Higgs. Which is why people strangely started supporting stadium management companies.

I hope not, but I must admit I am lacking in imagination on that front, although I am with you on being unwilling to roll over.

At times like this we need such inspiration, tenacity and drive, and who knows a collective of like minds like yourself could be the step to a brighter future.:)

I missed the original OSB post so this is a reply to that also.

I think the main thing CCFC need to do is their PR and Marketing.

I've said for ages, what would it cost them to do an OAP day? Encourage everybody to take their Grandparents, send a coach around care homes in the city to pick up some old boys. Let them all into one of the lounges and have some ex players in there mingling with them.

If there is an old fella stuck in a care home all week, it would make his month to get out and watch the football if they don't usually get to. Maybe even tie it in with Legends day.

There is the JSB Scheme, why not something the same for old people? Instead of the birthday card the kids get, send them out a retro birthday card with some of the former players signatures.

Said old man's children / grandchildren see and hear about the gesture, they see how happy it makes him, they are happy. It is because of CCFC...

Loads of things that can be done to spread the word that doesn't cost much if anything.

Get Sky Blue Sam working 7 days a week too to earn his keep!

I am waiting to see your post that challenges it.

What a pathetic response, this now a site dominated by anti everybody except SISU, that when one of your allies post a conspiracy theory on here like Grendel's it gets passed as ok, have you ever challenged a Gredel posting.

Thats a good idea to start Nick. Use the local media to cover it too newspapers, radio, tv etc.

Simple but if done properly effective and positive

wouldnt cost much

And funny how the ones who justified City moving to Northampton are the ones who now knock The Wasps for moving.
Maybe their fans just want to take their kids to watch their team

I thought this site was dominated by fans of CCFC. Not those who laud up a franchise who have no respect for their own or anyone else's heritage.

No one justified City moving - they just may have decided to support their club at another location.

It's only the Wasps apologists on here 'justifying' their franchise move because the poor loves had no choice.

Proud of my principals never went to Sixfields never watched WASPS, if lauding WASPS for acknowlwdging that they seem to run a sucessful sports club and team, then guilty
