If we don't like what the EU does we can do nothing other than leave. If we don't like what the British politicians do we vote against them. Just like the majority who voted in the referendum did. So yes at least we have a say.

the trouble is they collude with an Australian press mogul to influence the masses to get the result they want.
By the way, I'm not in favour of a federal Europe been mooted on here.

He never said it. Stupot actually put up a link that quotes him to saying no to a second referendum. I quoted it in my previous post. Bizarre
I know he didn't say it. I was just pointing out the double standards on here. As in 'I'm not listening to that thick anti EU racist at all unless I can find something he said that might help those that don't agree with the majority that could be bothered to vote'

The way to can this narrow win rubbish is for parliament to pass a referendum act that makes it mandatory for them to enact the result of any future referendum if the result is over (say) 55% for a change and to do nothing otherwise. As it stands they can ignore any result if they wish. I'm pretty sure they'll fudge the issue & no one will get what they want in the end.

Agreed.

Some remainers say almost 1.5million votes in difference is actually very little and 52-48 is too close to call. Well is it?

Wasn't this the biggest turn out ever in a public vote including General elections etc? I would argue this makes the result more valid and actually bigger difference because of it.

Also where were the others who wanted to remain apparently but didn't vote?

And the vote was wrong because the Sun said out?

How about Geldof? He thinks he can tell us what we should do. Where would he be without one hit record? I wouldn't put him up as a role model.

The wife put a programme on TV last night that she recorded earlier. It had Adrian Childs on. They went near the Bullring. At one part they were talking to mainly the Indian population. About 70/30 voted leave. They showed others from the ethnic minorities that voted leave. They gave their reasons why. A lot of it was to do with uncontrolled immigration. Are they racist? They mentioned about jobs lost to those coming in willing to work for less. Being here for the money and not wanting to become part of the community. And that was just part of it.

The wife, who was for remain as much as anyone on here, suddenly realised that there was much more to it than she realised. She still thinks we should remain. But her eyes have finally opened up to the problems she hadn't realised really do exist.

If thats the case Sick, you can hardly blame the referendum being the catalyst.

It'd funny that she never had any problems until the campaigning started though. There seems to be a general ignorance amongst a lot of the population about what is going on. Someone at work asked me yesterday what we were going to do now that the 'new law' had been passed that stopped immigrants entering the country; he genuinely thought we were already out of the EU and literally shut the borders.

I wonder how many other ill-informed people are out there?

Anyway we are off to the power hungry EU today for a couple of weeks to escape this miserable island.

I can see those MP's in London getting away with it. But most of the rest of the country voted leave. If they don't listen to their constituents they will get voted out next time. And they know it.

Considering that there is a real thirst to see justice served, should London be allowed to break away and remain in the EU and stop funding the poorer regions of the country? After all, many on this forum complain of the same thing about Britain and the Eastern European countries.

So anyone who doesn't agree with you is ill informed if they don't agree with you.....including other people that previously came here to live?

Are you on the wind up?
You should try reading my post again unless you agree that we have aleady left the EU and a new law has been passed banning anyone from entering the country.

And if the Tories get voted in around where I live in the next generation election I want to be governed by another party.

So what is going on Sick Boy? Are you basing it all on your own personal experience and not anyone else's?

I have yet to meet anyone that thinks there has been a new law after the referendum. I am yet to meet anyone who thinks anyone who has moved here from the EU should leave, and I have yet to meet anyone who has been subjected to any abuse. We each have different experiences, but don't tar everyone with the same brush just because you have experienced something different.

Before you attack me on the fact of where your partner is from and the abuse that she has received, which I think is abhorrent, take a step back and consider you know nothing of my back ground, and the fact that I have been subjected to such abuse in the past, but nothing, not one thing since the referendum was ever spoken about.

We all have different experiences but it doesn't mean, that all or most from one group are ignorant or ill informed.

So nobody listens to a word Farage says as he is a racist idiot and would never have a chance of making decisions as he will never get into power. But if he says there should be a revote he must be right :D

No, but his fans can hardly blame remainers for wanting him to actually hold his word.

I'm not sure why you're mentioning racism, my point is people were influenced by lies printed in the mainstream media, which is predominantly right wing and in favour of leaving the EU.[/

Exactly, that's the point is they are bad for us then we get rid of them. We can. General elections or otherwise.

Answers please. How do we get rid of juncker, tusk or Schulz? The 3 biggest presidents in the EU.
It's not the person its the system that puts them in place by nomination.

And what is the difference between President of European Council (Tusk), President of European Commission (Junker) & President of the European Parliament(Shultz)?

I'm not basing it all on my own experiences but she certainly hasn't been the only one to fall victim of xenophobic abuse.

What do you expect when you have posters claiming that claims of racism are made up and some kind of conspiracy theory? It's massively insulting. Very few posters on this thread have even bothered to challenge such a viewpoint.

Ha ha ha ha. You sound like a petulant child.

This person actually voted remain.
Who voted remain?

I didn't as both sides were full of shit and didn't deserve my vote.

I can see the benefits of being both in and out of the EU. Personally I think I would be better off in. But nobody knows. I get called uneducated :D Ill informed? I have invested for over 20 years. All of my shares are now in America until things calm down over here. I know the way international economies work. I know about trade and trade deals. And I also know being in the EU in it's present state will not be good for our long term future.

Show us where these claims are then. You have been very good at twisting words so far.

I will tellyou what is very insulting. It is people insinuating that those who voted leave are racists and uneducated. There will be racists and the uneducated on both sides of the vote. Anyone who disagrees is in denial. Or just after point scoring. The whole thing is a shambles.

It was clearly said earlier in the thread. You seem to be ranting and raving to yourself rather than offering anything constructive.

Slightly amusing that sickboy accuses astute of being a petulant child, when a couple of posts earlier he announces a flounce from this "miserable island".

Can't see where he says he would ask for a re run? Just unfinished business he says?

He actually said before this is a once in a lifetime vote. No?
"In an interview with the Mirror the Ukip leader said such a narrow margin would prompt him to fight for a second referendum.

He said: “In a 52-48 referendum this would be unfinished business by a long way."

Ok, it wasn't on his agenda because he had hoped to win, but in the case of a narrow 52:48 loss he clearly stated that it would prompt him to fight for a second referendum. A rerun. You cannot get it much clearer. It actually happened - 52:48 -, so when is the rerun? Based on what was said in advance. I am agreeing with him that 52:48 is not conclusive and that it is unfinished business. We need an election and for parliament to follow the law and pass an act - in whatever direction parliament chooses - after debate and taking all views into account. Not easy as we have a split country.

The petulant children voted to leave without thinking of the consequences and their 'elitist' leaders legged it when they saw the mess that has to be sorted out.

Or on the other hand, the petulant children are the ones who had the vote go against them, but can't accept the decision.

I voted remain, I don't think it was a good move to vote leave. Having said that, I accept I was in a minority on this occasion and we have to now work together to make the best of the situation.

I never voted to leave as I have said many times. So what is your point when you are sticking up for someone making a childish comment against me?

The childish ones are those moaning and making accusations against those that didn't vote the same as them.

Both sides were basing their arguments on lies. And some of the remain lies have already been shown to be so. For instance if we vote to leave interest rates will go up. After the leave vote they say interest rates will go down. Yet those crying about the result will not admit to such.

Has Article 50 been invoked yet?

As things stand we remain within the EU.

And who said any different?

So the change in exchange rates was nothing to do with the leave vote as article 50 hasn't been invoked? No. It is just yet someone else twisting what is going on to suit their agenda.
