But The debts are owed by CCFC (otium) or whatever too SISU or Arvo masterfund or
Something ( I think) so CCFC only really owe money to the people that own them.
The debt only becomes real if they leave doesn't it, at which point SISU's investors will
Surely have some serious questions to ask of them, won't they.
If i was a sisu investor i'd be asking questions already

You do realise Cov Utd are backed by wealthy people? Cov Sphinx are mainly run by volunteers like and go by the takings from their clubhouse etc. United just buy their way up the leagues. Will fall apart soon enough when they cannot sustain their continued sucess with 150 fans.
Hence the expansion to rcc ground

Why would they do that, they play in Coventry civic colours, it is a different club.

Doesn't mean it isn't a club in waiting. Clubs do change colours and names you know. Coventry City didn't always play in sky blue, Nuneaton town used to be called borough, Rugby town used to be VS Rugby. Things change and for different reasons. Not saying anything is going to happen. I don't know those involved or their long term plans. Just saying I wouldn't be surprised.

Our colours have changed again this season, from Sky Blue to White.

whilst i believe this in my heart, and ive always believed that you only choose 1 team in life
i do attend the odd united game just for the love of the game and to support the owners, as theyre friends of mine (you support all your loved ones for sure in any venture )
i am not ever changing alliegence, and i court a real challenge from them like MK and wimbledon

that said, and getting back on subject, there are a large number of older fans attending united games, more than you would expect, that were previously season ticket holders at city, and bemoan city in every breath
ive stopped standing with them in the stands because it makes my blood boil, and i am 100% sure they would run back to city if we sniffed any kind of success in the future

theres nowt wrong with hoping all our teams do well, coppswood, sphinx etc all have great historys, but we need to be prepared, this very well funded united team , at current face value, will be equal to city in league status within 10 years if we do not have a massive change of fortune
I to go to other football games pipehitterz , all local non league games ,it's a nice afternoon out and I really enjoy it but there is no way I could give up CCFC and support fully another team.
I agree those that go to Cov United and moan all day about CCFC would run back the first sign of a promotion season. Those that run non league teams give up countless hours running them so they should never be critised.

I would quite happily get the bus into town, go for a couple of pints walk up to the Butts watch Cov Utd then a few in Craven St after, some good away followings to if they did get to the national league, Wrexham, Tranmere, Lincoln, football isn't all about multi purpose sporting arena's located on the edge of cities and towns especially the Ricoh which is far to big and soulless, community based clubs should have there heart in the city

Well, if things stay the same , I can see alot more fans turning to United , me included .

How are their investors getting a return?
Tell me why you think the owners of football clubs should get a return beyond the joy of owning & running the club?

Then we will have the New Firm Derby, United v City!!

Classic!
I think that might be 10 years off :angelic: (or hopefully never if CCFC get 'proper' decent owners).

Love that old soul less ricoh yarn.

First 2/3 years up there was something else. Atmosphere was electric.
Get some success and the ricoh will rock again for sure.
Will certainly be better than 1300 Fans at the butts. Fuck that shit

So you think the a sustainable model for football is for club owners at all levels to put it money to cover losses caused by chasing promotion and paying for players they can't afford?

The Ricoh and rocking do not spring to my mind unless it is a Springsteen concert?

Some people have this inane thinking that Club Owners should provide football ( and rugby) purely for the benefit of people who go and watch.
I suspect they may even think they should not pay for entrance!

Be an interesting match. Older members will recall that CRFC were a major force in rugby in 1970s lets hope they get a backer that could take them back there again.

That's another reason why Wasps shouldn't be here. Our own rugby club has a great history and were the premier rugby club in the 60s and early 70s. Now a club with no connection to our city are seen as the main team. I am amazed at how many people I know are now Wasps fans. Very sad.

Does that apply to Franchise Rugby Club owners as well?
Yes, though for the life of me I can't see the attraction in that one.

Where did I say losses? Break even is fine, there are clear benefits to ownership, I mean you are not going to pay for a seat or match day entertainment are you.

The 'I just want to watch rugby' lot annoy me. Always ask them how many times they have been to see CRFC, yet to have anyone answer saying they've ever been to a game.

I agree, but maybe they just want to see top level rugby and now its on their doorstep ?

I like rugby, been to loads of England games but never seen Cov rugby club, and don't really have any intention of doing so.

I wouldnt go to wasps if i was paid to go, but I can see how some would if they don't believe the damage they have caused CCFC

Makes you wonder how many would go if a Premier League team were shipped in...

Ex ccfc Ben Mackey making his debut for United today.
Has scored a hatrick in the first half.

This guy will get them up this year too.

knowing them, i dont think it was anything other than the love of football , hatred of sisu, and something to invest in

Really don't mind this and fair play to them on this level. It did feel a little uncomfortable when we were Northamptoning that they were trying to jump on the coat tails of our misery.

Still pissed off that they're not called VS Rugby anymore

Who has two clubs that are smaller than us?

<snip>
Take a look at the qualifying rounds for the FA Cup. Many towns smaller than us have two or three clubs.

It's correct that Coventry Sphinx have been around for a while and have made progress to Step 5 in the Non League Pyramid. Cov Utd are now in the same Division (currently below the Sphinx). <snip>.
Sphinx have been around for at least 50 years. My dad and I used to watch them play in the old Evening Telegraph cup in the early 1960's. They have gotten nowhere and won nothing of note since then. Most people outside Coventry probably don't even know they exist. Considering how long Coventry United have existed, they are making far more rapid progress.

Once Coventry United play at the Butts a precedent for football being played at the site will have been set.

Hardly, I watched a football game there back in the 1960's. It was a Coventry XI vs a Rest of the League XI. Might have been a testimonial. I forget the details, Football has been played there many times in the past.

Sphinx were members of the the Coventry Suburbance & Alliance works league, one of the best amateur leagues in the midlands with top teams like Bermuda, Massey Ferguson, Standard, Morris Engined, G.E.C always a strong outfit. I would think they have been in existence a lot longer than 50 years

No need for any precedent to be set, the stadium is currently used for paying spectator sport and has a capacity I think of 4000 might be more. That door has been shut now sisu must look elsewhere, perhaps that other site Fisher has up his sleeve.
