I agree that stability is key, yes.

If someone is completely failing though you have to get rid don't you?

Still a lot of games to go, so for me the jury is still out on Slade. If we don't win another game this season I would very much guess I wouldn't want him here.

If he can make a bit of a fist of it and we can see roots of a plan going forward, then yep, stability.

no he has had 4 league games? so he has 6 more before he is judged by you this season.

Looked to me that he was mostly disproving things the Telegraph were posting. I'd say the Telegraph were trying to sensationalise things, big headline about Willis going etc.

In between Willy Waving.

Definitely a lot of Willis waving by the knobs at the telegraph.....

Not that straight forward. After 10 games we could be down anyway.

If that was the case and his contract is up in the summer, then the obvious thing is to let the contract run.

Pointless changing things if we are down and a new manager cannot bring any players in at all.

Not sure what on earth that would achieve.

I said about Mowbray to judge after 10 games because he had already had a season with us.

and in that season he finished 8th

so 8th in a season plus 10 games at strt of season = terrible and possibly one of our worst
managers ever

half a season -relegation = new contract

rightio

He has a very very similar record to Pressley and very similar to peter Reid.

This window completely shows that Sisu and Fisher have given up on the club.

No ambition to get some experienced players in to have a go at staying in this league.

Sisu have parked the bus and as long as the club is breaking even they don't need to worry about this investment.

Is there any point to the rest of this season as a Coventry fan?
No great surprise . Timmy made it clear on that radio interview how the club will be run. regardless if there is 20,000 fans in or 2,000 in .

and slade will be remembered for being 1 of the few managers not to even get a new manager bounce and fail to save us from relegation?

Even Mark Venus got a new manager bounce, and he isn't even a proper manager

I'm not sure, them rejecting all bids was a bit strange. Wasn't expecting the hardball approach.
.
I Must admit I find this baffling, they seem to have gone from one extreme to the other. doesn't make sense to me at all.

Why do I get the itchy, Fisher-y feeling that these deals for Willis, Haynes and Stevenson are not 'dead', but will probably be completed in the Summer? Was this an attempt at PR by SISU, to keep the fans silent over selling 'core' players (I use the term very loosely)?

Either that, or they'll just be flogged for about half of their market value in the Summer anyway, to any club who talks sweetly in Tim's ear.

The club has already been sold and the agreement in place was to not sell any players during the window.

Could be right Hill, would explain the strange disappearance of Timmy Fisher and Mark Venus

If I am right I'm going to start making stuff up more often.

Exactly!!

He won't be remembered half as much for the 8th place as he will for the failure and will be remembered for taking us from top to bottom 4.

Simple fact is that after being top and then in the top 6 for so long and also 11 points clear of 7th, we should have never, ever have finished the season 8th.

We all know this, apart from Covcity4life who has a clear unhealthy obsession with Tony Mowbray

Not selling Haynes is a way of winning over the fans?

tells me we have pretty much that to save us we have the same squad that has taken 2 points out of 21 under Slade.

Yes we retained the family silverware such as it is (Stevenson, Harries, Willis etc) but what has or can change about how the squad can go forward. Good luck to Folivi but it is hard to see he can make a big enough difference in 18 games.

I think that with what is going on, the inability to competively fund, the league position and results, the toxic atmosphere it has made it extremely difficult to bring in the players we really need. I do not think it has been through lack of effort or having some budget (though I doubt it was much). To do any serious business needed a sale to be completed I would think

The squad is still dangerously threadbare, unbalanced and lacking physical presence, confidence and quality (with one may be two exceptions). We still let in soft goals and fail to create enough opportunities to get the goals needed. The pattern of play is confused, lumping balls up to little fellas is rarely going to work, and we are running out of time. This transfer window hasn't changed that

Does retaining the three/four "stars" (have they been really?) perhaps create a further problem down the line. The club needs to sell players to survive, it looks like incomes will crash next season, we will I fear be L2 and that will devalue the playing squad or sales achievable. The last home fixture is 22 April the following season starts around 7 August in that gap the club has no income, yes some players will go at end of loans/contracts but there are still overheads to be met and wont be caught up by season ticket sales.

Academy deal finishes 30 June, how many clubs can afford Cat2 in League 2? Can we and if we cant then as it is vital to our future where does that leave us?

Completely agree with all of that OSB. Do you have any theory on why we didn’t accept the bids which were received – as Nick says, it was surprising that we decided to stand firm. The policy in the past has been to roll over and accept derisory amounts of cash for key players. It all adds to the feeling that something might be changing behind the scenes.

The OP says “This window completely shows that Sisu and Fisher have given up on the club”. But if that were the case they’d have sold the lot. Yes, they’ve completely failed to bring in the kind of people we need to avoid relegation, which is yet another dereliction of duty. But on the credit side, I’m glad we’ve kept these young players – it gives us a small semblance of continuity and something to identify with amongst all the crap that’s going on. And the performance against Bolton makes me think we can’t be as bad as our run of results suggests. Clutching at straws I know.

Based on current results and current squad it looks that way....
minutes away from 3 points at Peterborough tho but for Burge to be shy and glued to his line.... and also against Bolton when Reilly pulled up believing the ref had blown... another goal disallowed for offside when possibly on.... when things are against you, your lucks out. How we might of built on them 6 points we will never no.
Might be the first manager to take us to Wembley for 30 years tho... it's a huge might tho.

Kind of a cleft stick really potentially short of players if they go potentially short of money if they don't. Perhaps Slade set the values with half an eye on needing to keep players not sell them. Perhaps the sort of clubs interested were never going to pay the price. Perhaps it was all talk. Perhaps they realise that if we do get relegated the players we have will be more affordable than bringing others in. Perhaps the value was right and the offers poor. Perhaps they got their timing wrong, bluffed and messed up. Perhaps they really did not want to sell or need to. Who knows

Very pleased we held on to Stevenson as he'll probably be worth more in the summer. Increased up-front fee for him may negate the need to sell others (for now)

Willis and Haynes are worth nowhere near those fees. Willis undervalued at half a million? At least be sensible Ajose is a midget isn't he and the carlisle guys record above League Two is not good - also he went for a fee to a club near the top of the league

Same height as Lionel Messi, what is your point?

What factors drive a player to choose one club over another? I can only think of four main ones: get paid more elsewhere, will play more games, more attractive team, get on well with the manager.

In summer we were reasonably attractive but tried to hire championship players. Now we are unattractive to league 1 players.

It may be something else, but the above ain't helping.
They don't want relegation on their CV
