tells me we have pretty much that to save us we have the same squad that has taken 2 points out of 21 under Slade.
Yes we retained the family silverware such as it is (Stevenson, Harries, Willis etc) but what has or can change about how the squad can go forward. Good luck to Folivi but it is hard to see he can make a big enough difference in 18 games.
I think that with what is going on, the inability to competively fund, the league position and results, the toxic atmosphere it has made it extremely difficult to bring in the players we really need. I do not think it has been through lack of effort or having some budget (though I doubt it was much). To do any serious business needed a sale to be completed I would think
The squad is still dangerously threadbare, unbalanced and lacking physical presence, confidence and quality (with one may be two exceptions). We still let in soft goals and fail to create enough opportunities to get the goals needed. The pattern of play is confused, lumping balls up to little fellas is rarely going to work, and we are running out of time. This transfer window hasn't changed that
Does retaining the three/four "stars" (have they been really?) perhaps create a further problem down the line. The club needs to sell players to survive, it looks like incomes will crash next season, we will I fear be L2 and that will devalue the playing squad or sales achievable. The last home fixture is 22 April the following season starts around 7 August in that gap the club has no income, yes some players will go at end of loans/contracts but there are still overheads to be met and wont be caught up by season ticket sales.
Academy deal finishes 30 June, how many clubs can afford Cat2 in League 2? Can we and if we cant then as it is vital to our future where does that leave us?
