But,but..... G said the furlough scheme was absolutely crystal clear in the guidelines and couldn't/wouldn't be changed.....

My employer changing things to suit isn't unheard of but I checked with the union and they said there have been some alterations to the guidelines

Still think they'll be some infringements by my employer before it's all over

My barber was complaining about this. People coming in with no skills because it’s easy to claim on immigration you’re a hairdresser apparently. Though he can be a bit Brexity so take that with a pinch of salt.
How critical does it need to be
Difference between a good and bad hair cut

Two weeks.

The UK doesn't keep the list of critical cases up to date, that will be a snapshot from a date recently. It was 163 for quite a while so had increased nearly 10 fold.

Fair enough FP, I don't doubt it.
Thats all we've got really isn't it?...snapshots with a varying degree of lag.....I even warned about the veracity of all the figures myself on a post a few days ago....yet here I am, referring to them....doh!

We're still a long way off the target for testing too - not even close to the original target of 25k per day let alone 100k. Why after this long is testing still at low levels?

In Holland they're all 'hairdressers' I'm told. Ask where you can buy drugs and you'll be directed to the nearest hair salon. The local poilce are apparently 'oblivious' to this activity which has earned them a lot of derision.

Vape shops are the go-to start-up for washing cash in Liverpool...allegedly. Used to be sunbed salons.....allegedly.

I know, basically all we have our cumulative totals really, they give a broad indication of the acceleration of infection and deaths, but that's it. They don't give any real indication of where people lived as the data is all from hospitals

Fair play JHFC, that's why I made the query .
Think that number has been the same for over a week.
afraid going to come across a bit negative toward our own. Country or even Gov't.
However I've made the point before.ay how tardy our nation seems to be comparison to other countries with our point's of data gathering and implementation of rescue flights etc

I can't help wonder if our minimalist or outsourcing of back office Gov't operations have hindered us ,?

Did the Irish not travel to Cheltenham this year?
My experiences of Cheltenham (work and play) were of huge numbers coming over for the Festival.

Yes they did, I've seen anecdotal reports of people returning to ireland and then showing symptoms of the virus. It may have been mentioned further up this thread.

In fairness to Grendel this looks like clint's employer changing their mind, not the scheme changing.

it looks like the guidelines have changed but I'd imagine it's in response to pressure from Employers. The original guidelines did seem a bit restrictive.
There's a bit more flexibility now which makes sense.
It was certainly a bit busier than I thought it would be on the way in this morning though still a long way off what it would be on a normal working day.

I have no doubt that Trump will be the one leader when balancing the scales of Jobs and public health will go the jobs line unless he’s stopped. He knows his voters will be there if he can prove he’s got people back to work. The American guy on here is not alone with his views on trump despite his increased erratic behaviour. He’s now resembling the fictional character Greg Stilson more and more

It will be interesting how far trump will go with Biden given some of the more outlandish rumours about Biden on the net

What’s indisputable is that Biden is in major cognitive decline if not worse. There are allegations of sexual assault as well which need investigating but based on how he behaves in public it’s not unbelievable. That and with Biden doing even worse on voter enthusiasm than Hillary I think the orange man would need this disease to kill millions for him to lose

I agree. Can't believe Biden is going to be the opposition - what on earth happened to see him jump in the ratings so quickly? There was part of me wondering if it was Rep's voting to choose a weaker candidate. Trump will tear him apart in debates. I really can't see Trump losing to him.

In essence

1. Bernie Sanders’ strategy was to guarantee 30-40% of the vote in each state because the field was crowded-he does this by focussing on the under 45 and Hispanic vote

2. This worked well for the first 3 states and the media looked resigned to him winning with Biden in 4th. Then Biden won the fourth state on the back of enormous elderly African American support (despite him vouching for segregation in the past).

3. Off the back of that the Democratic establishment decided to coalesce around Biden and persuaded all of the other centrist candidates to drop out and endorse Biden ahead of March 3rd when a huge number of contests were held. The other progressive candidate was persuaded to stay in. Keep in mind that Biden had zero campaign presence in these states and had done little or no adverts

4. March 3rd saw Biden mop the floor with the support gained from all the other centrist candidates. Bernie got his 30-40% in a lot of places but got overwhelmed by the high boomer turnout for Biden. The progressive candidate Warren appears to have helped Biden win a few of the north eastern states too. She then drops out making it a two horse race

5. Bernie spends a week calling Biden his friend and saying that he could beat Trump as well. He proceeds to lose heavily on March 10th and the race is basically over though notably he still gets that solid 35% from the under 45s.

It’s a combination of the Democratic higher ups and poor strategy from Bernie, but if there hadn’t been that forced coalescing near March 3rd it is very likely he would have won

Its more than anecdotal, Cheltenham is being pinpointed as the biggest reason for it spreading in Ireland, along with Dubliners heading across country to their holiday homes

I think you're back for the duration now then, nobody can claim unless someone has been furloughed for a minimum of three weeks, so they now won't be able to claim now for the period of time you were not at work (unless it was for 3 weeks? Time feels distorted these days :) )

I 've been called back before the 3 weeks is up and I strongly suspect I'll be out again before the end of next week.
This contradicted the initial guidelines I was sent so I e-mailed HR for confirmation and contacted the union and apparently they guidelines have changed.
If it hasn't I've got correspondence from the company and the union telling me is has so I'm covered anyway!

Got paid today, including the 80% of salary for when not working, surprisingly smooth.

Only thing is that they’re entitled to deduct the days not worked from their contribution towards the yearly annual leave allowance, (I get 2.8 days a month so will lose 1.4 days a month based on what I’m doing now).

Apparently the scheme has been in existence for a while, hence why it seems to have gone relatively smoothly for Italy.

Didn’t bother reading past the sub-headline:
I read it to see what kind of crackpot he is.

But his numbers could be correct. That would be a surprise in what has happened in China. It would mean they are being more truthful than we all think. We are learning more as we go along with this virus. Italy locked down hard but it continued to spread until the 40 days like he said. It even looks like we are starting to peak. And we haven't had a serious lockdown.

But yes it could still be a crackpot idea.

761 I thought it would be higher than that. Let's hope it's not a outlier.

Just unbelievable.

This whole time we've been releasing patients from hospital into care homes without testing them.

I mean, fucking hell.

It is indefensible now, this government has blood on it's hands.
