He won't make it unless he gets a soft focus 1hr special with LK in some plush hotel , before the previous PM had failed IIRC.

The Kingmaker slot.

Funny how there's no mention of Eat Out to Help Out (or maybe Die Out) in that clip.

The BBC are abysmal these days, just a Tory propaganda machine.

Err....they do mention it...and also comment that it was a mistake.

As far as the Beeb are concerned, If the right wing shouty brigade are constantly moaning about it being full of "wokey libtards" & the left wing shouty brigade are screaming "tory propaganda machine" then they're probably still doing their job quite well....

Am I right in saying that the evidence for Eat Out To Help Out driving Covid cases higher is one study from the University of Warwick? Or is there more to it than that?

Not sure about specific studies of the eat out scheme, but there is plenty of evidence that adults socialising in restaurants, bars, or worse, at home is a major driver of infections.

Part of the ONS report that found teachers are not at any greater risk than others going out to work mentioned that most of the teacher infections were contracted in the staff rooms, teacher to teacher.......kids generally offer less risk...the younger they are the further it falls.

sometimes you know there is actually causation behind the correlation

Oh yeah, obviously from a basic coronavirus safety POV it was an extremely risky move. It deliberately flew in the face of scientific wisdom, and the August/September case numbers obviously speak for themselves. I just find it interesting that it's now taken as gospel that Eat Out to Help Out was the big driver, and wondered if there was more to it than the UoW paper. (Considering how many other papers on other Covid topics have been completely ignored)

Whcih tax rise are we talking here?

I see Corp. Tax is going up 6% to 25% in 2023......fucking hell...thats a kick in the balls & a punch in teeth for small little businesses like me.

Income Tax as freezing the lower threshold just means that as wages rise due to inflation the threshold stays the same so people pay more tax and people who didn't pay tax are then pushed into the tax paying bracket.

Also could corporation tax not be a progressive taxation like income tax? More you earn the more you pay?

That’s pretty much what he’s doing I think DOD

Nah, they’re right wing economically and socially liberal, which is the opposite of the plurality of British voters. So everyone hates them depending on which they consider more important.

Like the TV version of the Lib Dems, hated by everyone for entirely rational reasons :p

So it's going to fuck most businesses and reduce demand

you just said you wanted CT to be progressive ?!. It is🤷‍♂️Think he mentioned the new full rate will apply to something like 10% of businesses (don’t quote me). Not seen the tapering yet but like that those making the largest profits have to pay a bit more as it still encourages start ups/small businesses

Anything on investment? Green jobs maybe?

Yeah, there was quite a bit mate. Some quite big stuff around investment. Wasn’t taking notes though so can’t tell you full detail (I’d be guessing some bits). Some interesting/different things....will wait to read some opinion pieces to see whether people in the know think they will be useful/good (some look positive though)

Because it's going to punish a lot of smaller businesses.

Thus reduce demand which I'm not sure if you know isn't a great idea in a demand shock. If business making 95k a year then has to start paying more CT they will look to reduce other costs which is likely to be wages which then reduces demand.

Raise it for the big boys but start the tapering at a much higher level of profit.

Regarding Freeports, will the news mention that between 1984 and 2012 while being in the EU we had 7 freeports and the reason we currently don't have them is the Tories got rid of them.

What's the cost of freezing personal allowance over five years?
£800-£1000?
Then create 6 Freeport's?
Who is likely to benefit from these Freeport's?

Pretty sure freeports won't benefit me too much. Council Tax on the rise, energy on the rise no increase in personal allowance = normal working people getting poorer.
