This question may trigger, but it's actually an honest one. The report made a series of recommendations, has anybody seen a critique of these or know what opponents would like to see instead?

Possibly the recommendations from the last six race reviews in the last four years?

The main problem with the report is its conclusions don’t match its contents. It continually identifies structural racism in health education and policing then claims it doesn’t exist. It’s shoddy AF.

Also the recommendations in this report are ridiculously fluffy and vague and either recycle stuff that’s been said before or are just generally useless.

I haven't, so won't make a judgement on the contents, but when they're seemingly randomly popping in sources and stakeholders etc, it doesn't bode well for the veracity of the rest of it. I'm constantly amazed at how senior government bungles the basics of 'research' - it's not just this lot, either, Blair's Iraq dossier springs to mind! - but there are some fundamental principles that they seem to wilfully overlook, and this lot have stepped it up a notch.

The number of people who are listed in the report as having been involved in its creation who have come out and said they've had no input whatsoever raises alarm bells. Why on earth would you list people like that, surely can't have thought they wouldn't get found out.

They will though. Especially if there’s a Union Jack on the report.

They are in an almost impossible situation, but they don't help themselves, do they?

What a shambles and the 'result' of that report is not remotely surprising.

You just know that when they hold an inquiry into the COVID response it will find that we were amazingly well prepared, reacted perfectly, couldn't have done any more, and that Johnson, Hancock and Co did nothing wrong.
...and they’ll get away with it and it’ll be turned into something triumphant by the compliant press.

Saw an interesting take which basically goes “you tell people Britain is one of the least racist countries and the right people take that as part of their patriotism”

Not sure that was the plan but I can see the reasoning that that’s how you make anti-racism part of the British identity. I’m certainly proud we’re one of the least racist countries while still wanting to see more done. Can’t help but feel Darren down the pub will take it as “job done” though .

A senior official in Paris said the French government expected shareholders and creditors to make an additional effort before any state aid could be put on the table.

The official added that a solution for Eurostar would have to be found by this summer, and that as it stands France still expects the UK to participate if needed but there had been no high-level political contacts with the British so far.

Shareholders, including the Canadian pension fund Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and Hermes Infrastructure have already put in more than €200m during the crisis.

SNCF told the Financial Times in March that Eurostar will need new money in “weeks not months” to fend off a looming cash crunch and that both the French and UK governments were in advanced discussions about how to help the company.

Eurostar and the UK government have held talks over a possible state-backed commercial loan worth £60m to help it through the crisis, but they are yet to yield any results. One person close to the talks said the discussions had not concluded, and there has not yet been a definitive refusal from the government.

Eurostar owns and runs the trains that travel on high-speed lines between the UK and France, Belgium and the Netherlands but does not own any of the infrastructure it uses, including the Channel Tunnel itself.

Its chief executive Jacques Damas told the FT last month he was “fed up” with the French and UK governments’ refusal to take responsibility for helping the company.

Eurostar and shareholders SNCF, Hermes and CDPQ declined to comment

He's just a dictator. Still not convinced the 'coup' against him wasn't staged. If not it was the shittest attempt at one ever. Utterly inept from supposed military planners.

He's screwed the economy as well.

Yeah I was just interested in the strategics really, I know the article says it may override some treaty to do with the black sea and naval military restriction, might simplify a certain nations access into the med as ell.
Think there was some row a couple of years ago about America buying up ome Greek port nearby.

Hartlepool latest opinion poll has it turning Conservative in the forthcoming by-election, this is not looking well for Labour in the local elections.

If Labour can't win in Hartlepool then where can they win?

Anyway while we're on the subject maybe he's just displaying the trend of anti woke sentiment. 🤔
But

No, more like a certain Islamist trend that he has set for the country over these years. How ironic it is that in having screwed up the economy he nows needs to make overtures to Russia for support. Well, perhaps not so ironic these days, as East Europe tends to be the last bastion of these in Europe.

Until they regain their class consciousness, they'll always have to rely on the Tories to lose.

Look at the margin of error, look at the methodology of the poll, look at the weighting. Fuck me for someone who loves posting stats you have a blind spot for posting the latest anti Labour posts you've seen on twitter.

It maybe bad news but until we actual more reliable data we just don't know.

I think this shows a lot more, It looks like the voters who choose the Brexit party in the last election may not be returning to their traditional previous voting choice. If this is copied throughout the local election/mayoral vote then Labour is truly fucked.

This could explain partially why Labour et al is 10 points down in the recent opinion polls.

No it doesn't because if you look at the data it shows that only 3% off the people polled say they voted brexit party. It's not a great poll at all and you would be better off waiting for more data to actually come in.

Who hurt you from the Labour party?

Look at how they answered the rest of the survey.

They talk about all the things they'd like the government to do... then say they will vote for the party that will do the exact opposite to those things.

Sums this country up. Absolute idiots who continually vote against their own best interests!

Which could show the issues with how they have weighted the voting intention results.

It could be this bad for Labour, it could be better or it could be even worse but we are not going to know from this poll.

You've got socialists arguing with centrists on twitter about who will blame who , should this happen

Be honest has Labour ever been such a mess ? I can't remember much pre Tony Blair

And the northern independence Party?

Just taking votes off Labour really aren't they, not many granted .. ridiculous really

Torys will keep getting stronger in England sadly

In reality what it shows are BXP voters forgetting who they voted for in 2019. There’s only something like 3% BXP voters in that poll when that seat had 26% BXP vote, similarly there’s more 2019 con voters than Lab which is clearly bollocks as Lab won the seat.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Con won, they’re still well into vaccine honeymoon period, but that poll is less than useless.

There’s an entire raft of policies here that a party like Labour could adopt... who knew.

Interesting thread.

No it's not, it is basically excuses for poor data collection and assumes that a large number of people are forgetting for they voted for in Dec 2019. In fact the sample is even worse than I thought as it's only based on 300 people and not the 500 it claims in it's headline figure.

As I said before if you want to know what's going on wait until more data comes in.

That's what I a trying to tell him, we don't gain any insight into what come be a close fought battle that either side could win.
