She infinitely more capable than some of the current shadow cabinet - but maybe she has found her niche at committee level. Good exposure for what she does with very little scrutiny.

I always think she comes across as a bit condescending (think it’s just her manner/way she is rather than necessarily intentional) but should be front bench when looking at some of the alternatives

With UBI, it’s an interesting idea.

I’d like to see more trials on a larger scale, but if you could cut all bureaucracy of means tested benefits and replace all other benefits with UBI... Maybe it could be a good and popular policy.

I can’t help thinking he makes it up as he goes along.

He then pulls a rabbit out to say the figure they used were the positivity rate of people coming into the uk. Where are these figures or have you just made that up and know it won’t be followed up or if it is it will be forgotten cause it’s easy to use hindsight to prove people wrong

With UBI, it’s an interesting idea.

I’d like to see more trials on a larger scale, but if you could cut all bureaucracy of means tested benefits and replace all other benefits with UBI... Maybe it could be a good and popular policy.

In theory Universal Credit could have been a simplification of the benefits system bringing them all together under one payment. But as usual it turned into a sham because it wasn’t done properly.

Comes across as patronising and mummy and has literally no vision for the country other than shouting “high tech jobs”, which lost my vote as her answer to say care workers being underpaid was them to retrain as software devs or whatever.

When challenged over the risk of lifting the restrictions he fell back on his fact that much of the population had received their first vac dose and that there was up to 97% efficacy, therefore the impact of the Indian variant would be much less than for the Kent variant over winter.

The latest study in the British Medical Journal, published last Thursday, shows that the Astra Zeneca vaccine, that many of us have had, in fact has between 80-85% efficiency depending on type.

If this becomes a third fuck up over the pandemic, it's going to damage them hard.

When challenged over the risk of lifting the restrictions he fell back on his fact that much of the population had received their first vac dose and that there was up to 97% efficacy, therefore the impact of the Indian variant would be much less than for the Kent variant over winter.

The latest study in the British Medical Journal, published last Thursday, shows that the Astra Zeneca vaccine, that many of us have had, in fact has between 80-85% efficiency depending on type.

If this becomes a third fuck up over the pandemic, it's going to damage them hard.

I think quite some grace was given to them for being slow off the mark on the first round, and I have no confidence whatsoever that a government of different colour might have done things differently. I think the second event crept up on even the experts but then, when it had hit all it the face, Boris decided to sacrifice bodies rather than be accused of cancelling Christmas. This time round they are firmly in receipt of the advice in a timey way but it's clear that they are set on a course that protects the economy above the widespread impact it will have on health. I do think that if this turns out badly they will be significantly damaged.
