Or maybe I'm getting confused with how bsb instills a sense of appreciation for ethnicity into kids.

When you have 2 girls with blond hair and blue eyes aged 12 and 9 .. and living in tile hill you often find yourself in a situation you'd rather not be in .

My favourite line , one which will definitely get me fucked over one day .

I don't care who your dad is , send him round 🙈🙈

Had to sit in the garden with a hammer just incase 🤣
It's not Finham

And that's why gervais is so funny here

Didn’t he say that Jews have hook noses and control the media? No. Wait. That was Boris again.

No that was him liking a Jewish version of monopoly on Facebook Tony

A bloke in finham came out and kicked his wheelie bin the other day because we blocked his drive .

Was a pretty scary moment in all fairness

I have no problem with leaders being paid a high wage and agree with Grendel on this. I also think staff in the nhs deserve a pay rise that keeps their salary in line with inflation and worry that there are 400 vacancies which is 20% of the overall staffing of university hospital coventry. And can’t help thinking they may be linked

On principle, I don’t think many people would disagree with the concept of giving nurses more than 1% pay rise.

The reality is, the amount the government has borrowed since COVID makes it unlikely the Government will increase the pay of public sector workers. It has to come from somewhere and it tax rises are needed to fund this, it’s more money out of everyone’s pocket, including public sector staff.

The government are receiving stock for this, but I know I’d rather the government increase taxation in more subtle ways. For example, they’ve frozen the thresholds in which we pay ‘x’ tax band. In practice, a tax hike without the increase rate on our payslips.

If you work in the public sector, you’ll never become rich.

Nope, no evidence they were racist.

Racism is the belief that groups of humans possess different behavioral traits corresponding to physical appearance and can be divided based on the superiority of one race over another

Groups of people = Muslim women

Different behaviour traits corresponding to physical appearance = wearing a burka and looking like a letterbox

Superiority = those that don't where burkas don't look like letterbox

Was Boris being anti-Muslim?, yes I'd say so. Was he being Islamophobic? Well, I doubt that the imposition of a fifth Islamic caliphate was uppermost on his mind, so no. Was he inferring that looking like a letterbox marked you out as a different race? Not much evidence of that, is there?

And this is how it is. Call out what you consider to a medieval practice with shades of misogyny (whatever the all round protestations) and the constructed weapons of race and irrationality are brought out against you.

Libertarian thinking my arse. These are the tools of authority and control.

He specifically said 'Muslim Women' walking around looking like letterboxes

Next you'll be saying the term bumboys to describe homosexual males isn't homophic?

What is it that I have said that you don't understand? Yes, he was no doubt being anti-Muslim. Do you believe that there is a Muslim race? That would be odd, and factually incorrect.

That’s not how government debt and taxation work. At all.

Feel free to plot tax as a % of GDP vs debt as a % of GDP to prove me wrong though.

I don't really get his point. My wife's family all think letter box women look ridiculous, they may not be massively religious but they celebrate Eid and such so would be hilarious to call them islamophobic. I'd imagine many Westernised people from Islamic races feel the same. Not sure why we have to pretend that something that looks ridiculous, doesn't look ridiculous.

He didn’t actually, he specifically said “... it is absolutely ridiculous that people should choose to go around looking like letterboxes”.

Whether people think what he said was racist or merely Islamophobic isn't really the point.

What he said was derogatory to a group of people, and his 'apology' was basically to say that he will continue to hold those views he just won't make them public while he is PM.

Who do you think suffers anti-Muslim abuse? Is it just Muslims or any brown person with a visible religion?

If you’re straight and I call you a bum boy is that no longer homophobic abuse? Equality legislation says it is.

Islamophobic abuse is cleary racially based, just like antisemitism is (bit clearer that as Jewish is a race and a religion).

Why should he apologise against forced exploitation of women forced to adopt aspects of a faith that demeans them. This was one of the most liberal freedom speeches he’s ever made

But we don’t ban being derogatory about groups of people based on fashion choices. We do it based on things they can’t change.

Why should he apologise? Do you speak on behalf of all Muslim women? Because lots of Muslim were offended by his comments.

In my day at uni people called them the sand people after Star Wars it seems. I felt sorry that they were forced and brainwashed into thinking it was acceptable. It’s outrageous then as it is now - do you agree with Macron this form of dress is illegal as it is in France?

I think that anybody who becomes aware of crass criticism, such as that made by Johnson, and who takes it as an attack on their religion - or indeed against the holding any religion - suffers to greater or lesser degree. I think the printed comment is indefensible, least in terms of its profile.

By definition, you cannot say that such criticism is based on a fear of that religion. You can suppose it, and you can accuse Johnson of it, but that would simply be supposition.

And if it was indeed born of a fear of the Islamic religion, it would be supposition still further to say that the remark was born of xenophobia.

You can surmise all you want, and attack with terms such as racism and Islamophobia, but be aware that you are simply using tools of authority and control, not tools of debate and discussion.

No I don't think it should be illegal. I don't like it or agree with it, but it's their religion, none of my business.

And anyway all it's done in France is stoke both sides of the fire.

Plus going back to Johnson's comments it caused a big rise in Islamophobic incidents in this country, and you still don't think he should apologise?

There is of course the debate about whether referring to Islamic races is xenophobic. The political view being pushed out to all government departments, as promoted by the 'BAME' community, is that race is a social construct, and that there is no genetic basis for distinguishing between groups of people. We are of the same race, but have different ethnicity. The evidence for this view is based on the fact that there is greater genetic variation between groups collected together on lines of ethnicity and skin colour than between groups of different cultures and skin colour.

My Mrs is way more likely to be offended at being called BAME than anything else I think. Doesn't identify with that bullshit at all.
